In The BNOTP Library: Perfect Porches by Paula S. Wallace

After seeing all those fabulous porches earlier this morning in our tour of a wonderful lake home and guest cottage on The Ford Plantation, I knew just the book to share with you this evening. I figure with a blog titled Between Naps on the Porch, it’s  my solemn duty to sample and road test all the available porch books to be found! 🙂

Perfect Porches by Paula S. Wallace

In case you’re wondering if you could be having a case of deja vu, thinking the title of this book sounds really familiar, you’re right! A few weeks ago I shared another delightful porch book with a similar title, Porch Perfect. Today we’re checking out Perfect Porches: Designing Welcoming Spaces for Outdoor Living. They are definitely different books and both are great!

3 Things I Like About This Book:

  • Shares info and lots of photos of many different styles/kinds of porches including coastal, farm, urban, waterfront and country from 40 different homes. All are wonderful, couldn’t pick a fave if I tried although the sleeping porches were pretty high on my list.
  • The stories throughout the book add so much to the enjoyment of seeing the porches.
  • The porches don’t feel like they were done by a designer or decorator. They feel like real porches used by real people. It’s pretty much impossible to put this book down without gleaning several ideas you can use for your own outdoor rooms and porches.

You can read more about this book, Perfect Porches: Designing Welcoming Spaces for Outdoor Living at Amazon where I normally buy my books, via the picture link below.

  1. Hi Susan, I just checked with my library online and they have this book, so I ordered it. Am first in line, so should be coming soon. Then, I shall drool over all the porches!!! 🙂

  2. I would love to know what YOUR favorite porches are!

  3. It’s obvious that “they” who proclaim to not judge a book by its cover never saw your library! So far, the reviewed books are worth having even if only for the covers. How do you ever walk away from your collection and get any projects done?:)

  4. Love the close up of the teapot and boxwood wreath! Is the teapot a Mackenzie-Childs? I want one! The boxwood wreath is to-die-for, too!
