Repurpose Your Old Record Albums Into Unique, Exciting Wall Art!

When I visited with my friend, Teresa recently, this was the bedroom where I stayed. I was absolutely enthralled with how she had decorated above and around the bed!

Great Way to Reuse Old Record Albums

Instead of tossing out or donating her old record albums from yesteryear, she turned them into exciting wall art!

Repurpose Old Record Albums or Record Album Covers

Do you still have all your old albums from days past?

Record Album Covers as Art

I love this idea so much! Old record albums often have really interesting covers and this is such a cool way to remember the music you were really into back in the day.

Record Album Covers Become Wall Art

Any time we can take something from our past that we may no longer be using and turn it into something beautiful or functional, that’s totally a win-win!

What record albums do you still have from the past?

Decorate with Old Record Albums, Record Album Covers

The only cost involved to decorate this huge wall over the bed was just for the cost of the frames, which wasn’t that much. The frames come in packs of 3 and they are currently on sale here: Frames Perfect for Framing Record Albums. You’ll also find them available here, although, I think the first link is the better deal: Frames for Framing Record Albums.

Loved my visit to the great state of Texas! I have several more posts I can’t wait to share from that visit. Thanks to Teresa for letting me share this fabulous idea for repurposing our old record albums!

Update: I’ve had a few emails/questions about where I purchased the bows for the wreaths I hang on my exterior windows each year. I just replaced all mine a couple of years ago (they last for many, many years) and I purchased them here: Bows with Streamers for Holiday Wreaths.

Christmas House with Wreaths in Snow

You’ll find a detailed tutorial on how I hang my wreaths here: How to Hang Wreaths on Exterior Windows. Toward the end of that post, you’ll find some suggestions for hanging them on different types of windows.

  1. Wow what a great idea – SO many of my favorites on that wall too! 😉 I didn’t even know they made frames that size! Thanks to you and Teresa for sharing, and Happy Sunday!

    • Thanks for the compliment. The albums I used were stacked in a closet for many years taking up space. The graphics were interesting and the vinyl records are still inside the covers. See ya on BNOTB

  2. What a cool idea! I love how pretty the album covers look framed and hung over the bed like that. I never had that many albums, maybe 4 at the most, but got rid of them and so wishing I hadn’t! That is a cool room you got to stay in Susan! Merry Christmas! Hugs, Brenda

I love this idea! Thank you for sharing

  4. This is such a fun and great idea!!! Makes me sad I got rid of many of my albums! Loved your house in the snow picture…..picture perfect with your wreaths and bows.

  5. The only old records I have were made before there were album covers. They only have paper sleeves.

Thanks for sharing this inspiring and nostalgic wall art! Last year I came across an album cover of a Christmas album of the Ray Conniff singers. My mother always played this cheerful album during the holidays. I planned to frame it and use it as Christmas art. Now, I see a framing that is perfect!

  7. It pains me to see album covers from my past, many of those I had. My ex got the records. Cool idea though!!

  8. Any tips on how to align a grouping of frames so they are straight vertically and horizontally. My gallery walls are randomly spaced by necessity, but I love the effect of the aligned album wall.

    • I’ve never done a gallery wall quite like this but I think I’ve seen recommended that you can cut out paper the size of the paintings/prints, then using masking tape, you can hang them to get an idea of exactly where you would want them. The brown craft paper you can find a Walmart would probably work for that.

Love this idea! I always love it when someone finds a way to bring something out of the storage box and into a whole new life! Clever!

  10. Love this idea! I have some of the same albums on that wall. 🙂

Super cool idea! Love that the frames allow the records to stay inside the jackets protected! Yes, Texas is a GREAT state! Loved my 6 years that I lived there and if I ever move again, it would be back to Texas for sure!

P.s. Yes, My wreaths are hung on my windows with care, in hopes that St. Nicholas soon will be here!
