Retail Therapy After A Nightmare Week, Plus, An Intriguing Find!

Oh my gosh, this has been a week and a half. I had a very stressful situation come up that I will share more about on Monday, but I’m happy to say that it has all worked out okay. At least, I hope it has–only time will tell. After an absolute nightmare week, today I was craving anything that was positive and happy. It was really beautiful out, so I decided to do a bit of shopping to try and put myself back on an even keel.

Before we get to the shopping trip I made, I thought I’d share some of the things I found online recently that I think are great deals and would be perfect for spring. By the way, if you live in a location where you’re still seeing cold temps, L.L. Bean has this adorable plaid flannel hoodie on sale right now for only $30, so it’s drastically reduced. I love the colors and that’s an awesome price! You’ll find it here: Flannel Hoodie.

Springtime Shopping

Everything I’m sharing below is currently on sale, 25% off so it’s a great time to do a little spring wardrobe shopping. I love this beautiful floral shirt with contrasting striped cuffs. I don’t mind ironing but if you are someone who really dislikes that, you’ll love this shirt since it’s designed to never need ironing. I also like how long it comes down–very flattering! It’s on sale here: Floral Non-Iron Shirt.

My favorite color is green so this shirt is definitely calling my name. They call this shirt a “boyfriend” style but I really like is it’s not oversized in the shoulders and the width, so it’s not baggy as so many boyfriend-style shirts are typically designed. Again, the length is great! I find longer shirts can be really flattering. This one is on sale here: Green Long-Sleeve Shirt.

This beautiful tweed jacket is giving me Chanel vibes. I don’t look good in blazers since I’m pretty short, but I find jackets to be just right! If you find blazers don’t work on you, try a shorter-style jacket like this one. I love, love, love the color and this is a style that is timeless. It will still be in style 20 years from now. I love that! This jacket is on sale here: Green Tweed Jacket.

Another style that I have always found to be figure flattering is shirts with a vertical stripe design. They always have a slimming effect. I love the way this one is designed with pink on the underside of the cuff and around the neck. Whenever I wear linen shirts like this, I always turn up the cuffs or roll up the sleeves, so I really like that contrasting cuff. This shirt is currently on sale here: Linen Shirt with Pink Lined Cuffs.

Another great vertical striped shirt and I love the color! They know we like those slimming designs and have lots of good ones out this year!  This one is on sale 25% here: Pink Striped Shirt.

I really love the pattern of this shirt and again, it has those contrasting cuffs that are my fave! It looks like it even has the contrasting fabric along the placket area, too. It’s those little details that I absolutely love! Great length, too! This shirt is on sale here: Green Floral Shirt with Contrasting Blue Striped Cuffs and Trim.

If you’re in need of a cute summer tote, this one is on sale here: Summer Tote.

I’m intrigued by this lantern! It’s a solar lantern so it charges up during the day, then lights up at night. It would be so nice to place several of these around outside on outdoor furniture, and then have them all come on at night. They don’t appear to be on sale, but I think they are reasonably priced for being hand blown. You’ll find them here: Hand-Blown Solar Glass Lantern.

Seeking a little retail therapy after my stressful week, I stopped by Williams Sonoma. I was super tempted by an adorable SMEG Coffee Maker. It was just so cute, I barely resisted. I saw this pretty bee china out on display.

This was my favorite, though! I love this sweet little bunny surrounded by a green garden and looking just a little mischievous. lol The gold looks so pretty contrasting against the green florals.

Here’s how it looked in a table setting.

Beautiful design!

This would be a great pattern to use all spring and summer. You can see more of this pattern, including its various serving pieces, here: Garden Bunny Dinnerware for Spring and Summer.

So, you know how Williams Sonoma always makes their Peppermint Bark available at Christmastime?

For spring, they have Bunny Bark! Ha! I had no idea! If you love their Peppermint Bark, you’ll find their Bunny Bark here: Bunny Bark. I love giving their Christmas Bark as a gift at Christmastime. This would be a fun gift for spring.

After surviving my stressful week, I went a little crazy and bought 4 new puzzles to celebrate. Four was a bit overkill but I was pretty wound up! lol Do you ever do that, survive something stressful and then reward yourself with something fun? One of the puzzles I purchased had me completely intrigued! It’s very different and something I’ve never tried before. It had great reviews though, so I decided to purchase one. It arrived today and I could not get over how heavy the box was. The box had to be at least 3X the weight of a normal puzzle box. It was so heavy, I seriously wondered if it came with a book inside!

I opened it up and found a pretty poster that will come in handy for putting it together. Also, inside were these two very heavy packets. One says, “Don’t open this envelope until you’ve finished the whole puzzle.” This is some kind of a mystery-type puzzle! The information online says that there are over 50 Easter Eggs to discover in order to solve the puzzle. It also says that the puzzle has a “mind-blowing twist ending.” I was so intrigued by that description and the great reviews, I couldn’t resist trying it. It has 93%, 5-star reviews, and a 4.9 rating out of 5 after 1,665 ratings! I have no idea what to expect since I’ve never done a puzzle like this. Have you ever tried one of these? To read more about this puzzle and the reviews, you’ll find it available here: Mystery Puzzle.

Happy Weekend! I hope your weekend is filled with fun and relaxation!

I love the mystery puzzles! I got one for Christmas last year and it was a huge hit! Just don’t cheat – be sure you are completely finished with the first package before opening the second one. So fun!! Hope you enjoy it!!

So sorry you had a stressful week. Hope all works out.
BUNNY BARK – whoo hoo how fun, right?

    Take care, Susan. Hugs.

Well… I LIKE THE WAY YOU THINK!!! franki

  4. That green jacket is so cute; I’ll have to take a look at that one. I’ve never heard of a mystery puzzle, but that is so intriguing. And the way the hexagon was used in the background of the bee dishware makes it so classy.

My daughter got a set of the Magic Puzzles for my husband for Christmas when they first came out as a Kick Starter. He loved doing them. He then passed them back to my daughter for her and her husband to enjoy. BTW, I have gifted my husband both the puzzle board and puzzle trays you use and shared on your blog. He uses them with every puzzle.

    • I’m so glad he’s enjoying them! It’s the only way I will do a puzzle now, the boards and the trays have spoiled me! Ha! I like that I can stand to work some of the puzzles, too…don’t have to always sit.
That is so cool that they did a Kick Starter…I didn’t know that! I bet I’m going to want all of them. There are at least three series and I think there are 3 puzzles in each series.

  6. I can’t wait until you finish the puzzle and show us what was in the mystery bag. The blouses are all beautiful. Do you have any trips planned this summer? They would all be fun to pack. Many years ago my mother was in a nursing home and my best friend was dying of cancer so I would run from one to the other. One day, in between visits, I did a little retail therapy and bought a blouse. I modeled it for my friend. I think it perked her up a little bit. I still have that blouse and each time I wear it, it reminds me of that day. Retail therapy is real and can provide a much needed boost. Hope this week is better for you.

    • I will definitely let you know. I’m doing a cozy cabin puzzle right now. Since the weather turned chilly again, I was in the mood for that. Wow, that was a rough period for you, I can’t imagine going through that, Lin. ♥♥
Yeah, I didn’t buy anything in Williams Sonoma, but I came close to buying a SMEG Coffee maker because it was sooo pretty! I only drink iced coffee, but I could make the coffee and just put it in the fridge, so I was tempted.

      • Hello! I received my puzzle and my twin boys and I couldn’t wait to get started! I will tell you one thing…I also have your puzzle board which I enjoy very much…but do not work this puzzle on it! That’s all I’m saying!

        • Which puzzle did you buy, Kristie? Why doesn’t it work on the puzzle board? I’m currently doing the mystery puzzle on my puzzle board and it’s working great on the board.
The only puzzles that I’ve found trickier on the puzzle board so far, are the ones with the slick, smooth paper backs. For those, I lower the puzzle board back one step and they don’t slide.

          • Oh, Susan….I don’t want to spoil it for you! Trust me…don’t work it on the board is all I can say! (The Mystery Puzzle)

            • Ohhh, no! It’s too late, I’ve got about 1/5 of it done. Yikes. I know that there are parts that don’t interlock, even on the edge pieces, but so far it’s going okay and I have it fully tilted all the way up. I guess I can lay it down if I start having any issues.

            • Well, I finished it last night. I ended up lowering my puzzle board a few more notches for the last part of the puzzle when I was fitting in those last pieces, but it actually worked okay for most of the puzzle. I haven’t opened the second package yet, but I’ll do that today. Have no idea what to expect. 🙂

              Mystery Puzzle

            • Okay, I figured out how to do it and still have it on the puzzle board. They should warn you about doing it on a puzzle board!

              • Wow! Your board is bigger than mine…I only had an inch all the way around and couldn’t move it! They really should say work on a flat surface or something…so glad you were able to move yours

                • I had to remove that smaller section completely off the board and it wasn’t easy but I got it off in one section. You’re right, they really should warn people not to use puzzle boards because a lot of people do, even the boards that lay flat on a table.

  7. Roxanne Bernard says

So sorry you had a rough week, especially after your crown experience. When the going gets tough, the tough go shopping! Love those little solar lanterns.

  8. So sorry to hear you had such a stressful week Susan. They aren’t fun that is for sure and a little retail therapy is just what the doctor ordered! Yes, there have been times after a stressful situation I rewarded myself with a purchase that made my little heart happy. I’m intrigued with your puzzle, can’t wait to see what you think of it and what the other “don’t look/cheat” bag is! Enjoy!!! Hugs, Brenda

  9. Retail therapy is real. Back in the day when you went to a mall, had lunch with friends, we were better off. Shopping online is kind of like working from home-isolation. I not only like the jacket, but the matching top under it. It would have been hard walking away from those bee plates.
I am strictly ice coffee too.
