Russet Shades of Autumn: A Table for Two on the Deck

Welcome to the 210th Tablescape Thursday!

It’s been beautiful weather here…perfect time for another tablescape out on the deck.  Try to ignore my slightly bedraggled plants.  I haven’t done the greatest job watering them lately.

Autumn Tablescape (Between Naps on the Porch)

This fall table setting is all about the colors of autumn…reds, golds and touches of green.

Autumn Tablescape (Between Naps on the Porch)

I didn’t have fresh flowers available today, so I took some of the faux flowers from an old autumn floral arrangement from last year and loosely wrapped a bit of ribbon around the stems.  They are standing in for the real thing, so please use your imagination. 😉

The tablecloth really supplies all the floral we need, but I loved the idea of a few casually placed flowers across the end of the table.  I just noticed, they look a lot like the red flowers in the tablecloth.  I’ve had this tablecloth for a couple of summers now and have never gotten around to using it until today.

You may remember the napkin rings from past autumn table settings.

The salad plates are from Wally World…either last fall or the fall before.  Couldn’t get a great shot due to the glare, but they are covered with fall leaves and acorns.  Remember when I wrote about the not-so-pretty acorns the oak tree in my yard produces in this post:  Sometimes the Grass Really is Greener on the Other Side.  Well, I’m hoping it produces bunches this year…because I have a secret plan!   Keeping fingers crossed.  If it works, I’ll be sure to share it here.

  8. It’s beautiful, Susan! I love the warm colors and the outdoor setting..Christine

  9. Your table is really lovely, Susan. You really are the master! Last year I got almost no acorns from my young red oak.
I thought is was the drought we have been having in TX. Well, this year my tree is just loaded with big fat acorns! I already have half a gallon bag and that’s only what I can reach from lower branches.

    • Wow…hope mine produces this year. I saw something I want to try and it’s perfect for the ones my tree drops that are bald. lol I have a plan this year. Hope my neighbor’s tree produces some more that roll over to my yard again, too! 🙂

  10. Thanks for hosting! Your tablescape is gorgeous. I love the tablecloth. Have a blessed week!

  11. Mmmmmm….love the Noritake stemware! Great lines on it! Glad you’ve been able to get back outside a bit!

  12. Hi, Susan!
Table settings for two are so cozy! 🙂
And yours, is so romantic, too! I love all its colors and I can’t believe how beautiful do the silk flowers look on that tablecloth! And, as always, do the lovely plates and the cute napkin rings look like they were made for each other! Love them!
    ~Hugs ~

  13. I absolutely love those chargers! Are they metallic on glass or what and where did you find them? As always, you have composed another beautiful tablescape.

    • Thanks, Pat! They are glass and good and heavy. I found those on sale for a steal in the clearance isle at Hobby Lobby one year…think it was HL. They were just a few dollars each. I haven’t been there in ages…time for a trip back.

      • Susan, what is a charger plate used for? I haven’t heard that word used in a tableware context before. I love the gold.

  14. Beautiful table, Susan! I love the way all your colors came together, and I especially love those glasses. Fabulous shade of amber.

Thanks! Tablescape Thursdays are the best!

Whoosh !!!! There goes Susan on her zip line again to get that terrific overhead shot of the table. LOL. I got those same plates last year at Wally World, they have a similar plate this year but I prefer last years. Either I need to quit visiting your tablescapes or stay out of Wally World, I bought 2 sets of these plates last year and then at Christmas of course I had to buy 2 sets of the red Cardinal plates too.

    • You should have seen that shot before I photoshopped out my toes and my sandals. lol I’m always afraid those metal chairs aren’t going to hold me! 🙂 I bought a good many of the fall sets they had last year, but didn’t buy any of the Christmas. You can’t beat the price and the colors are so pretty!

  16. Michele from Finch Rest says

I love your dining for two right in the thick of your green garden area – that is one beautiful tablescape – and a perfect transition taking us to Autumn.

    Lovely. Thank you for hosting!

  17. Your table is lovely Susan! Love the colours! Thank you so much for hosting! Angie xo

  18. Very pretty Susan. The stemware really takes front seat. Wish you could have gotten a better shot of the plates, they look very pretty. It’s a great transitional table as it has a lot of white, yet still the touches of Fall.

  19. Love your cheerful tablecloth!

  20. It all looks great together, faux or not!

  21. Susan I have to tell you that I love all the tablescapes on the porch, but these two-fer’s on the deck are always my favorites.

  22. Susan, thank you for hosting! I’m late linking up today, as work has been crazy! I really love the warm tones of your table this week, and now I think I “need” some amber-colored glasses!

  23. Beautiful table set for two Susan!…Such a romantic setting for a crisp Autumn evening!……Hmmm..curious about the acorns!!….I had lots of acorns last year, but most of the caps were missing…so I had lots of “bald ones”….Have a wonderful weekend!!

  24. BEAUTIFUL!!!!

  25. Just lovely Susan, so warm and inviting. I love the overhead shot, circles within circles. Such a pretty tablecloth and plates……now be a dear and don`t bring out the spiders for Halloween!! 🙂

  26. Hi Susan,

I just noticed when I run my mouse over your photos, there is a “Pin It” link.
Last night I was admiring all your pins and the lovely porch’s.

  27. I pinned your beautiful table for two! I have a similar floral tablecloth, but I never thought to use it for fall! And those amber glasses are just meant to be used right now!

  28. The cloth and glasses are so pretty! Not a hint of Fall here yet, 80’s today. I need a few crisp days to get me in autumn mode!
More and more tables are showing up on pinterest attributed to me that aren’t mine.
I think if they are pinned from the thumbnails that is happening. Have you noticed anything like that on your Pinterest page?

  29. Susan, this one is fabulous! The floral tablecloth makes me think of the MacKenzie-Childs Flower Market pieces. Love the vibrant colors of this table. This one really makes my heart sing.
Thanks for hosting each week, Susan.

  30. Susan, i love how the colors of the salad plates picks up the colors in the napkins. The turn of the glasses is so pretty. I love how romantic this is.. thanks so much for hosting.. xo marlis

  31. I just can’t bring myself to put away my summer shells and coral yet, but your beautiful fall displays may just push me into action. I’ll pull out the pumpkins this weekend.

    Maybe.

  32. Mid-Atlantic Martha says

Love those salad plates. I need to pull out my pumpkin ones soon.

  33. Hi Susan,
    your photophore is FABULOUS !
    thanks for sharing inspiration

  34. This is such a beautiful tablescape, Susan–I love the floral tablecloth, the gorgeous stemware, and the pretty candleholder that matches so nicely! I have been slacking off on watering my garden lately as well–it takes an hour a day, but I have to do it because I’ve got lots of veggis planted, and they need their water when they are producing. I’m looking forward to participating in Tablescape Thursday this week–I was finally able to put a tablescape together!

  35. Love it! I have those same salad plates and your combination really makes the colors pop! I am so envious that you are able to “see” how things would come together like this! I don’t have that “eye” for combining things but I LOVE being inspired and I can copy what I see :-}

  36. Now, I have a question for all the Tablescapers out there………do you remove the chargers before the food is served or do you keep them on the table until dessert is served? Wikipedia says: Charger plate etiquette and use varies among caterers and restaurants. Some professional catering companies remove the decorative charger plate as soon as the guests are seated. More commonly, charger plates are kept on the table during the serving of soups and first courses, and act as a base on which food-bearing bowls and dishes are placed. In other instances, when the design of charger plates complements the design of dining plates, charger plates are left on the table throughout the course of meal. However, charger plates are always removed before serving desserts.

  37. You must have the BEST Walmart in the entire universe near you! Mine seems to never have beautiful seasonal dinnerware. Lucky girl!

  38. I love this setting. Especially the beautiful etched cross candle holder. May I ask where you got that?

I'd love to hear from you! Please leave a comment!
