Royal Horticultural Society’s Applebee Dinnerware, A Springtime Luncheon with Friends

Welcome to the 711th Tablescape Thursday!

What better way to kick off spring than gathering together with good friends!

Royal Horticultural Society's, Applebee Collection for a Springtime Luncheon

Norma, who lives in the beautiful countryside of France, recently had friends over for a lovely springtime luncheon. For this luncheon, she covered her table with a lovely hand-embroidered cloth with the Spring flowers out over the table. Norma said, “I have had it for about 25 years and I found it in a second-hand shop.”

What a beautiful tablecloth! This makes me want to look for vintage embroidered linens when I’m out antiquing.

Norma created a beautiful bouquet of flowers for her centerpiece, adding two smaller vases of flowers on either side. I love how the smaller vases of flowers continue the lovely floral centerpiece across the table.

Beautiful!

Notice how the napkin rings so beautifully coordinate with the floral-covered salad plates we see peeking out underneath.

Norma shared that she found these wonderful salad plates on eBay for a “bargain.” They are by Villeroy and Boch and the pattern is Clarissa. I love how perfectly the salad plates go with the flower embroidered tablecloth!

Norma also found this beautiful Royal Horticultural Society’s Applebee Collection china on eBay. What a beautiful pattern! I wonder what kind of flower is in the center of the plate? Could it be a peony or perhaps a Chrysanthemum? Norma placed a pretty crystal knife rest at each place setting. That’s a great way to try and protect beautiful vintage tablecloths from being stained.

Such an elegant table for a special dinner with friends! Thanks so much to Norma for sharing this wonderful spring luncheon setting!

Absolutely beautiful. I love this table setting. Norma did an amazing job. If I had place to store more dishes I would be tempted to search for these patterns. I also love the embroidered table cloth too.

  2. Thanks for sharing Norma’s beautiful table. Her plate stack and flower arrangement are both stunning. Thanks for the little visit to the French countryside.

  3. Beautiful table. The white flower in the center of the plate is a Camiella.

  4. What a setting for a luncheon with friends. The fleur-inspired theme is perfect for spring and just the right touches. Lovely. Hope they all had a great time!

  5. What a beautiful table! I wonder if the Royal Horticultural plates have a different flower in the center? They are so pretty as well as the Villeroy and Boch salad plates. Love everything Norma did to make her luncheon party very special.

  6. SO beautiful and springy. I love seeing the knife rests in action, too. The linens are just gorgeous, and those pops of color against the white are so inviting and calming. Beautiful job Norma – I’m sure your guests were thrilled! Thanks for sharing, both of you. And thanks for hosting, Susan. It’s another wonderful party!

  7. This is such a pretty, colorful table!! I especially love the china and the embroidered tablecloth. Thanks for another beautiful Tablescape Thursday, Susan!

  8. I don’t go antiquing too often because my house is full. But there’s always room for more linens! What a gorgeous tablecloth. I love it and like you said, Susan, the way it goes so well with the salad plates. Lovely table setting for Spring. Thanks, Norma. I hope things are well for you in France.

What a gorgeous table setting! I love the hand embroidered cloth, so beautiful, I use to embroider so long ago and loved it. I also like the pretty salad plates with their flower design, they go so well with the rest of this Spring tablescape. Thanks for sharing!

  12. Could you ask your friend, Norma, a question for me? I have just acquired a set of six K-G Luneville salad plates (7″ diameter) in the Lille pattern (blue & white). There is limited information online about this French company. Is it still in business? How old is this pattern? I’d like to get 6 more but it might be a futile search. Thanks, so much!

      Hi Robin
      Thank you for your question.
I have done a bit of research and it does not look like K-G Luneville are still in production.
However, If you look on French Ebay ( http://www.ebay.fr ) there seems to be quite a lot of that company’s china.
Quite a few blue and white plates, but I could not see any that said Lille pattern.
Have a look, because as I am sure you know mix and match in the blue and white will always look great !
      Best wishes from France
      Norma
