Welcome to the 133rd Metamorphosis Monday!
How was your weekend? Did you spend any time outdoors grilling or just sitting on your porch, patio or deck? Would you spend more time outside if you didn’t have to cope with the bugs and that hot summer sun?
I’m so excited about the metamorphosis I’ll be sharing today. Recently, Terry who blogs at La Bella Vie, shared a few pics of her answer to enjoying more outdoor time, minus the hot sun and bugs. I loved her low-cost answer to beating the heat and mosquitoes and I’m so happy to share this wonderful space with you for this week’s Metamorphosis Monday.
Before:
Terry’s deck used to look like this. Typical deck, right?
Take a look at it now! A lovely screened oasis!
Here’s a look with the doorway zipped up “bug-free” tight.
And for those pest-free spring and fall days, this screened room can be opened up by pulling each side back. The sections are held in place by toggles.
Pretty awesome, isn’t it? Amazingly, this screened canopy was only $99 at Bi-Mart, a warehouse discount store. So, for a reasonable expense, you get an instant screened-in porch.
The roof/top of this screened canopy keeps the direct rays of the sun off your deck and you, letting you enjoy those days outside without the worry of getting sunburned or overheated.
Terry has turned this space into a wonderful outdoor room, complete with a beautiful rug she found at Home Decorators on line.
Terry and her hubby built the Adirondack chairs several years ago. Wow, they look so professionally made! Initially, they painted them white but last year Terry repainted them this wonderful blue color chosen by Mr. La Bella Vie.
I love this cozy seating area…pass me the lemonade, please.
Terry make the pillows from old (1940’s) Sunbonnet Sue quilting blocks she found in Houston at the International Quilt show several years ago.
Terry changes the pillows in her outdoor room occasionally, giving it a more tropical feel.
I love the color of those chairs!
To give her outdoor space an even cooler more soothing feel, Terry added a bubbly fountain.
Here are just a few of the lovely details in this outdoor space. As you can see, Terry has tiny, winged visitors stopping by.
Here are a few more details that make this space feel like another room in Terry’s lovely home…a room with a view and soft breezes. Life is good.
Don’t let the buggies keep you inside all summer. You can find screened canopy rooms online at Amazon and in many discount stores like Target and Walmart.
Thanks, Terry for sharing your wonderful screened-in deck. You can visit Terry at La Bella Vie.

PLEASE DO NOT type in all caps…it spreads the links waaaay out. Thanks!
Welcome! Thanks for coming to the party!
This is incredible. What an inexpensive way to be able to enjoy the outdoors and create another living space. I love all the pillows, makes this darling room even more inviting. Thank you for hosting each week Susan.
hugs ~lynne~
This a. great idea but the bugs can still get in from the floor & at the bottom of the screen
Susan,
WoW! What a transformation from deck to screen porch! I'll have to look for these in our area. We have no shade and our deck being on the WEST, it isn't bearable most of the Summer. This could be a possible solution on the Prairie! The blue is a cool and soothing shade!
Fondly,
Pat
Hi Susan:
Thank-you for hosting. Love the porch ideas…the sitting area is just great…love the paint color.
Thank-you for being a Miracle Makeover post host for next week!

I'm having a STINKY Give Away and I'd love you to pop over to Lavender Hill and check it out !

What an absolutely magnificent porch!!! They did a great job with that screen/canopy! That would be the perfect solution to our deck that faces south and catches SO much sun. And to be pest-free…priceless!!!
Oh, Susan, I love your porch/deck area. And those screens are fabulous. Your mosaics are always so pretty … in fact, your shares are always wonderful warm shares.
Have a beautiful week ~

Hi Susan,
I love everything Terri has done with her outdoor space!
The screen is such a great idea and her decorating and fabulous touches are just perfect!
Thanks for hostessing too!
Cindy
Thank you for hosting. Love the chairs, the colors are great!
Terry created quite a wonderful space on her deck. I am so excited that I might also be able to create this type of screened room on my deck. Thanks so much for featuring this and sharing Terry's fabulous idea and lovely new screened deck!
I love those screened canopies. I really want one for our back deck. it gets blinding sunlight all day, it's too hot. Only $99??! They cost hundreds up here, at least the ones I've seen. I need to shop around online some more.
Beautiful! Love the chairs and all the decor – what a lovely, relaxing place!
Kathy
That is so great, I cant believe the screen was only 99.00. Those chairs are such a pretty color, the whole deck just looks gorgeous. Thanks for hosting Susan.
WOW this is just such an honor to be a featured guest at Between Naps On The Porch!
We truly have had so much enjoyment from our little screened in sun-room that we've actually spent more time out here than inside the house this summer! The best part about it like Susan said, is that we stay bug free and we don't bake out in the sun, its just a cozy outdoor space that anyone can achieve with a little imagination!
THANK YOU AGAIN SUSAN FOR THIS LOVELY GUEST POST AND FOR HOSTING ANOTHER METAMORPHOSIS MONDAY!!!
YOU ARE JUST THE BEST!!!
Most sincerely,
Terry at LA BELLA VIE

I know this is from 2011, so I am not sure this will even reach you. I saw your deck that became a screened in sun-room, it was gorgeous. I was wondering where I would find the directions and cost?
Hopefully, this will reach you. Thanks. Nancy R.
P.S. I wasn’t sure what to put in website(betweennapsontheporch/133 Metamorphosis 8/8/2011, is where I saw your information.
Hi Nancy,
I found the screened “room” at a chain store here in Oregon called BiMart. They had them again last summer but as always sold out in record time. As the summer gets underway in 2017, I’d call them and ask when/if they be getting them again. The store were I found mine is in Oregon City, Oregon.
Best of luck on this and thank for checking in!
Terry
Hi Susan! Thanks for hosting!!
Hugs,
Susan and Bentley
What a great addition. And the screen fit so nicely as well. Any chance she will share what color paint those chairs are? I LOVE that color.
Hugs, Lisa
What a great screen! I needed one of those this weekend for the BBQ my hubby pulled of for my birthday!
Thank you for the party!

wow, that is really pretty. We don't have mosquitos like you do in the south, but I love the coziness it offers, and would love something like this some day. Thanks for hosting!

Now I must look to see how far away a Bye-Mart store is from me.
That would be perfect for anyone wanting to be outside or have an outside room

Wow! Beautiful a screened porch, a great place to spend summer time afternoons and night to cool off! In my neck'o'the woods, we use a lot of nets, even around beds, because when hot there are little mosquitos. Thanks for sharing and thank you for having me at Met. Mon. Hugs, FABBY
What a fantastic porch for such a great price!!! REALLY cozy and fun!! LOVE it!! Thanks for the link party also! 🙂
What a great idea with the canopy screen for the deck or patio. It even makes it look like another room. I really like the color of the chairs and table. The pillows are adorable along with everything else.

My first time here and I am thrilled! Can't wait to see more and be inspired.
Un lieu magnifique… paisible…
Des photos sublimes (j'aime particulièrement vos fauteuils…)
gros bisous à vous.
Gorgeous and so cost-effective! Anyone know how durable and easy to assemble these things are? We live in the Northeast so we'd have to take something like this down before winter.
I love that water fall fountain. Where ever did you find something so darling?
Hello Raquel,
Terry here from, http://sweetpea-labellavie.blogspot.com/
Didn't Susan do a fantastic job with that post! I still love to read it again every now and then and can't believe I had such a little sun room and warmth…its not that way now…burrr!
Susan emailed me and asked if I could help with the question about the bird bath.
I think its by a company called "Grasslands" which you can find online but I believe they only sell wholesale to retailers?
I purchased it at a store near me named "Pickleweed Hill"
1873 Willamette Falls Drive,
West Linn, OR 97068
(503) 387-5958
They don't have a website but I hope the info helps.
Thanks for the nice comment and thanks again Susan for doing this fun post!
Terry
I absolutely love this idea….but a few concerns here. First what if you have high winds or a bad thunderstorm, does it hold up or blow over, or will it tear? Also do you take it down in the winter, I would love to be able to keep it up all year round. Does it get sun damaged and start to leak, sorry just a lot of questions before I invest in one. Thanks and look forward to hearing from you!
