Snowbound

Snow so high I couldn’t even open the screened doors to go out on the decks to take pics…so these were taken through the screens.

Before:

After: Decorating by Mother Nature…

Before:

After:

The swing cushion has never even gotten wet when we’ve had tornado rains. It was a blooming blizzard, y’all!

Before:

After:

Before:

After: Don’t worry about the floor. It’s KDAT wood flooring and meant for porches. It gets wet occasionally when we have “sideways rain” as Forest would say. This is just rain in a different form. 😉

Good thing I added two new coats of polyurethane to the table this past summer. I wiped it off and it was fine.

Now:

But, this day is coming. Keeping the faith…

WOW, I'm still up and just saw this post pop up. Oh my, that's amazing in your neck of the woods! We are getting our share tomorrow! How do you clean that up… sweep it out and do you have to make sure to do it before it melts?? Or do you just put towels all around??!!
    Stay warm!!
    Best,
    Gloria

  2. How amazing to see all the snow on your porch!
You're snow bound and here in Australia I am flood bound! how's that for tow opposites!

    Brrrrrrr!! I prefer the "befores"!

    Warm hugs, sherry

I think you all in the south have gotten more snow this winter than we have in Ohio. It's been bitter cold with some snow, but the big storms seem to have gone around us. Maybe not today though, I think we're right in its path.

  5. Snow seems so like winter — we've just had our first this winter and our porch is also a bit snow covered! It just happens with snow (but hardly ever with rain!)

  6. Sherry@ Ties2ThePast says

Oh Susan!!! Isn't the snow fun???? I live in the NW GA mountains & am LOVING the scenery outside while I sit by the fire…inside!!!

  7. Susan, boy the weather has been weird lately. We normally get snow storms, which is great for our winter activities. But this year is different, and we would really like more snow! LOL Be safe 🙂

  8. This is a spectacular site for us in South Africa…but, how do you mop it all up and are all your beautiful furnishings and trimmings ruined!
Thinking so much of you…keep warm..lots of hot chocolate, etc!

  9. Looks so beautiful. Gotta love the season changes. Mother nature decorating!

  10. Have fun with it 🙂 I live in Michigan on the west side -where we get the most Lake Effect snow. We have had a mild winter of it so far. We will start to see the ground again some time in March. 🙂

  11. My goodness, what a FABULOUS porch and deck. You sure got a lot of snow. The snow is heading our way today! The last picture is DIVINE!! What a gorgeous tablescape…WOW!! Thanks for sharing and keep warm! XOXO~Liz

Honestly I'm wishing for some of that snow here in MD – hope to get a little bit tonight. It looks so pretty! and makes the drab landscape look so much prettier!

  13. You got some serious snow! We mostly got ice. I am on a 2 hour delay to go to work.

  14. It's crazy to see the before and after shots. It really makes for a better appreciation for Summer… even when it's at it's hottest! lol.

We live down here in the Florida panhandle and although it hasn't snowed since the 70's [and even than… from what I have heard] it was very little and never stuck to the ground]… it has been colder than a you know what!

Here's to counting down the days for Spring!

  15. That is quite a bit of snow for your neck of the woods. Everything looks beautiful.

We are on ice here. It is all sheets of ice. I'll be working from home. I've never been much of an ice skater.

  22. I love your porch no matter what the weather!

  23. How beautiful. Loving the befores and afters. Your porch is gorgeous year round.
Although I keep thinking about the before pictures….kind of longingly…

    Susan –
I feel your pain. I'm doing a post today with some pictures I took yesterday. It was beautiful, but I'm over it now. My heart goes out to all who have to risk driving in this. We feel blessed to be able to snuggle in with a good book, good food, and good company. Stay safe and warm and we'll all look forward to those porches and gardens giving us that summer pleasure soon.

    Enjoy your different weather!

  27. Here in Toronto, Canada we just had our first snowstorm this past Saturday, and it's not nearlky this much! I assume you are living in the southern US; I've searched your site and can't find your location.

I find it puzzling that bloggers so seldom mention their location; it really helps to give a perspective on styles, etc.

  28. California Girl…so I have never seen it snow. I'd like to see that one day!

  29. We all forget that your blog name is Between Naps on the Porch and that a porch usually open on the sides.
Your porch looks more homey than most of our living and dining rooms.
    Looks good still.

  30. All your "befores" have me longing for Summer! Enjoy your snow!

  31. Michelle @ Ten June says

Yay for our beautiful Georgia snow! Not sure when it will finally melt, but it sure is pretty! 🙂

  32. Wow! Look at the snow! It must have really been blowing. It's hard to see your beautiful porch all icy! I always think of it filled with sunshine! 🙂 Stay warm.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia 😉

  33. The Quintessential Magpie says

Susan, that is just unbelievable! I can't get over all the snow. Glad it didn't ruin things on the porch.

Hope you are feeling better by the time you read this and that you are cozy and warm.

    XO,

    Sheila 🙂

  34. Hard to believe that's the same space. Wishing for warmer days to come your way soon enough. A little bit of variety is good, and easier to enjoy in small doses.

  35. Wow, I visited Georgia during summer season…and I loved it…but it's beautiful even during winter time!!! Blessings, Flavia

  36. Wow! You sure got a lot of snow, Susan. It's pretty. There was forecast of snow here the other day too but we did not get any at all….Christine

  37. Howdy Susan from Kansas.
    Yesterday we were snowed in.

Just think…one day closer to Spring.

This thought helps get me through the cold times,

We were blessed with almost 5 inches of the white stuff. I truly love your screened in porch, but because of the blowing issue, I went for the glassed in sunroom style. I still have some decorating decisions to make… the sheers or bamboo shades.

  39. Designs By Pinky says

I love how you showed the before and afters! So much snow for GA!!! We are supposed to get it tonight. It is VERY cold , good weather to take Christmas down, which is what I am doing.!! XO, Pinky

  40. Anne at Bird/Like says

Whoa! I've gotten some snowfalls like that but my porch (deck) has definitely not held up that well! Its a beautiful space, glad it will survive the winter!

  41. Chandra Chinnis says

I definitely love the table set up of the before. I could eat dinner there anytime. This snow has been amazing. I am in Columbia,SC and just got the call that school is cancelled for tomorrow also. They might as well cancel Thursday also since Friday is already a scheduled day out. Wishing I had a porch like that.

  42. Mother Nature at her best.

We had 8 inches of snow in my neck of the woods this week. Tomorrow will be our 3rd day out of school. We are totally enjoying God's beauty right now since it has not snowed this MUCH in over a decade. Thanks for sharing the before and after photos. Cute idea!

    War Eagle!!!!

  47. I was teasing Debbie over the weekend about her saying she isn't sick of snow yet. I said in GA I don't think you would be.
We are supposed to get a big one tonight. Third one since Cmas. I am keeping the faith. In 4 months we will be getting ready for the start of the summer season here!
I have to keep convincing myself! Stay safe and warm, You GA peeps aren't used to driving in snow!

  48. We have snow here too but I didn't take any pretty pictures like that. Love your tablescape and those blue glasses are awesome.
    Have a great week!

  49. Rustique Gal says

    Susan,
Like you probably do, I hate to see my porch snowed in! But in New England it is a big part of the year. This year I packed it all up and tarped it to protect it from the snow. I know Spring will come, sooner for you, I hope!!! Have a happy week,
    Sherry

  50. Well, Susan, misery loves company! I am sitting here in my breakfast room with snow falling outside in NYC area. I know for you guys this snow thing is not 'normal' for the South! It's beautiful to look at but if you are not used to it, it's a pain to shovel etc. I am dreading that part! Spring is not too far around the corner and I welcome it!

  51. Enjoyed the before and after shots! Looks like a lot of snow! Think the sunshine is more fun.

  52. You look like you got more snow than I did but we are on Day 3 of snow. I enjoyed the summer vs winter pics. We haven't seen the sun in a while but it is all part of God's design. We have to love it all. I spent the day sledding with my 25 year old daughter and I had a blast. Life is good.

  53. Kim @ This Belle Rocks says

Love the new site look! Looks like you were hit with the "Snowpocalypse" too. I don't like winter, but have been enjoying the snow – since I don't have to try to drive around in it!
