Tablescape Thursday: Celebrating 100 Table Settings

Welcome to the 100th Tablescape Thursday!

Light the fireworks, sound the horns, throw the confetti..it’s time for a celebration!  Whooo, hooo! Tablescape Thursday is officially 100 today!

Can you believe we have been tablescaping for 100 weeks?! Wow! I’m so grateful for each and every one of you!  Thank You with all my heart for sharing your love for the art of the table every week here at BNOTP!

Now, I have to tell you a little about my tablescaping escapades this week. I knew you all were coming for this special celebration party, so I wanted to set an extra special table for you. I got it in my head that I wanted to use a single magnolia blossom as my centerpiece. Just one, big, beautiful magnolia blossom. I remembered having seen several blooming on the HUGE magnolia tree that lives just outside my front door.

I ran outside this past weekend to cut a pretty blossom and here’s what I found…whaaat? It was just gorgeous a day or two ago…ummm.

So, I walked around and around the tree…how can this be? No pretty white blossoms for this special Tablescape day? Things were looking pretty bleak…not a blossom in sight. Well, this magnolia tree is really, really big and I thought if I just went upstairs and peered out the window, maybe I could find a blossom a little higher up. I’d climb that big ole magnolia for you guys…yes, I would!

So, I looked out the guest bedroom window…didn’t see a single blossom.

I ran to the upstairs family room dormer windows and looked out. It took a while to get my magnolia-blossom-spotting eyes to work, but eventually I spotted one. Yikes, that was a little higher than I had planned to climb. Sigh…

See it way up there…soooo tempting.

Oh, there’s another one…right in the center of the tree, but again…really, really high up.

I kept looking and then I finally spied it…one right at the top edge of the garage gutters. I bet I can reach that one…what do you think?

Yep, had to go for that one. Grabbed my stepladder and…

I’m going to hush now and just let you enjoy. Oh, and please ignore where I placed the champagne glass. It goes above and to the right of the wine glass…don’t know why I placed it where I did. Do as I say, not as I do. 😉

A little candlelight…

Thank-you so much for being such a important part of my life these past 100 weeks! I am so blessed to know you and I value your friendship every moment, every day!

XOXO
Susan

Happy Tablescape Thursday! This is the first time the silver basket (centerpiece), the Nippon salt cellars and the vintage embroidered, cutwork linens have been used in a tablescape here at BNOTP, though I’ve had them for a while.

Chargers: Neiman Marcus, 2-3 years ago
China: Dinner Plate and Bowl is International, Pattern is Glenwood, found in a local antique shop. Homer Laughlin made a similar pattern, too. Salad Plate is vintage Homer Laughlin…do not know the pattern , perhaps Georgian
Crystal Stemware: Champagne, Iced Beverage and Wine are Waterford, Araglin
Sterling Flatware: Towle, King Richard
Salt Cellars: Nippon, Hand Painted
Candles: Tapers supplied by Colonial Candle

Looking forward to viewing your beautiful tablescapes!

If you are participating in Tablescape Thursday, please be sure to add your permalink below, and not your general blog address. To get your permalink, click on your post name. Then just copy and paste the address that shows up in the address bar at the top, into the “url” box for the picture linky. You’ll also need to put your e-mail address in, but don’t worry, it will not be visible to anyone.

You may see a red X once you enter your link. No one else can see the red X, it’s just there in case you make a little mistake and need to delete your link and re-enter it.

I’d love for you to use the Tablescape Thursday logo button in your post. To do that, just copy and paste it to your computer and upload it to your post as you would any photo. Or, just grab the html code posted on the sidebar under the TT button.

Please link back to the host blog, Between Naps on the Porch. This is important because it helps those who are visiting your blog, find the other wonderful tablescapes posted for this Tablescape Thursday, thus increasing visits for all participating.

Please do not add your link below, until your tablescape post is actually published to your blog.

Please don’t add your post name/blog name in ALL CAPS…it tends to spread out the links in an awkward pattern. Thanks! 🙂

Happy Blog-day TT! I remember very well the first time I saw TT. I had not been blogging long and I fell in love at first sight! Thanks so much for hosting, Susan. You have a beautiful blog and I know we all love seeing all of the beautiful eye candy every week. Happy, Happy, Happy!

Oh, and by the way, can't believe you climbed out to get that magnolia blossom! Oh well, it is beautiful and so worth it. I need to dig out my moonlight and magnolia post!

Thanks again, Susan! You are the best!!!

  2. Simply stunning. I'm breathless!

  3. This table is just stunning, and I love the music in the background.
I must have scrolled back and forth four times.

I LOVE the table, and I love the theme. No wonder southern belles are associated with the magnolia. The two are so alike, aren't they? Beautiful, flirtatious, difficult to attain, but well worth the effort. Grin.

I'm joining for the first time today. I always enjoy peeking in the windows on Tablescape Thursdays so thought I would join your 100th party.

  34. Wow, 100 Tablescape Thursdays! CONGRATULATIONS! That is so exciting and I'm glad to take part in your celebration. As always, your table is lovely. You always have the prettiest night time shots with candlelight. They are mesmerizing!
One of my fondest childhood memories and definitely one of my fondest memories of my Grandma's house is her giant magnolia tree in the front yard. It was so large that as kids we could walk underneath it. I have so many memories of playing in and around the tree with the huge white blossoms.

Again, congrats on your milestone evening!

And it is so thoughtful that you used this Magnolia patternd china which is also in this wellknown button. I am pretty sure that there will come another 100 Tablescape-Thursdays. 42. Entertaining Women says

Do you know the story of the young boy who traveled miles, over mountains, to the coast to find a shell & bring it back to his beloved young teacher who was homesick for her ocean home? "Oh, you shouldn't have traveled so far," said the teacher. "But teacher," said the young man, "long journey is part of gift." Thank you for the long journey that you took to share that magnificent Magnolia with us. The Madeira linens are perfection, and I particularly adore the Nippon open salts. I collect those for a friend for her birthdays. What is the luncheon plate spliced between the dinner & salad plates? It's lovely, and the tables design is perfection. Tablescape Thursdays has quickly become one of my favorite destinations…time stops in rather a delightful way. Thank you for all your endeavors! Cherry Kay

"Happy 100th Susan"… What a grand table you have set… It is SO special and I would have climbed that magnolia too to get that flower… My grandmother had those dishes in turquoise, and as a little girl I loved them when she brought them out on special occasions. I had forgotten about them and NOW I'm going to be looking for them(Thank you). Your 100th WAS my 1st so it is special to me too…

  92. Thanks so much for the lovely tablescapes each week. I can hardly wait for Thursdays. You have truly outdone yourself this week. What beautiful elegance. I love it. The climb for the Magnolia was well worth it. I love the setting by candlelight, how everything turns to gold…stunning!

Congratulations Susan, it hardly seems like your event could be 100, but I suppose like all things, time flies when you're having fun! I simply adore this tablescape, and I have my mind set on finding those beautiful salt spoons and knife rests! WOWZA! This is quite stunning and I for one, am honored that you'd climb a tree for us! Best to you! So sorry I didn't have anything prepared for this week.

  99. Sue (Someone's Mom) says

Congratulations and thank you so much for bringing something to my life that I just love to do. I had truly forgotten how much fun it was to "play with my dishes" until I found your weekly event.

I guess I didn't read the fine print this week…missed the memo on outside or party mode, but in truth…my table was planned to be outside because of the dragonflies and I couldn't take the heat! So, you will just have to pretend it is on the deck.

Your table is gorgeous. I love the silver basket with the magnolia…stunning!

  100. Heaven's Walk - says

Susan – Congrats on your 100th!! How exciting! Even though I don't get in to tablescaping (don't ask me why…guess I've never been a china-type of gal), I really enjoy seeing the personalities of every one else's tables and the beauty they display. Thank you so much for hosting TT every week.

I must say that I think that your table today is the best one ever. It's simply so beautiful! I'm glad that you retrieved that magnolia safely, too! Everything about your table is perfection. Elegant perfection…

    Congratulations on TT's 100th post!

This is a gorgeous table setting Susan! I love the dishes and silver. I had to laugh at your magnolia escapade because I was seeking some magnolia blooms from my tree yesterday and could find only one and it was at the very top of the tree and I had no way of reaching it. Although, I must confess that the idea of shooing one of my cats up the tree and calling the fire department briefly flashed through my mind. Oh Mr. Fireman my little kitty is up in the tree and she is so scared because she has never been outside before can you please get her? Oh, and while you're up there, will you please grab that gorgeous magnolia bloom? Here are the clippers. (all said in my most effective Southern Belle voice of course).

    ~ Tracy

Congrats on the 100th Tablescape Thursday. We can all truly tell how you love tablescaping b/c every table you create is so beautiful. Your table for this post is most definitely worthy of the 100th TT celebration. Its gorgeous!

My Mommy and I are from Mississippi and Magnolias were her favorite. I see why you sought out a blossom, the magnolia blossom is perfect with your china. So much eye candy, everything is beautiful.

One Thursday, I found your blog when googling "tablescape" and I've been hooked every since. Before I discovered you wonderful blog, I would change my tablescape every season or occasion, but now I try to change it every Thursday. It sure helps me use what I have collected from my Tablescaping Escapades. I look forward to another 100 Tablescape Thursdays.

    All the Best,

Congratulations on the 100th gorgeous tablescape!
love love love as always 🙂

  132. My grandmother had these as her fine china when I was a kidI’m now 64. I wonder where they went when she moved to the lake to retire? I ate many a Christams and Thanksgiving dinner from these dishes. Thanks for reminding me of thsoe wondeful days!

  133. Just lovely! Do you have any tips for conditioning magnolia blooms?

    • Thanks! No, not really. Just try to not touch the blossoms. They tend to turn brown very quickly wherever they’ve been touched. The blossoms usually only last for the day.
