Dining in the Conservatory with Royal Copenhagen, Blue Flower

Welcome to the 87th Tablescape Thursday!

Tablescape Thursday:
I’m soooo happy to be sharing another gorgeous tablescape today with you that’s coming all the way from Switzerland! Dear Cornelia graciously agreed to invite us into another one of the wonderful rooms in her beautiful home. Today we will be dining in the conservatory.  I love saying that word…conservatory. I’ve always LOVED conservatories but I’ve become slightly obsessed with them since seeing Bunny William’s conservatory in her book, An Affair with a House.

Cornelia, thank you so much for bringing us into your home this week to see this lovely tablescape in your conservatory. Notice the stunning candlelier…is it not amazing? I have a little close-up of it to share a little further down.

Cornelia told me the table and the chairs are,Empire. I love their warmth and patina…just beautiful!

The rug is a very old Kasak from the Caucassus.

I adore a blue and white tablescape! Cornelia told me the china is from Royal Copenhagen, Blue Flower, curved and a few pieces of Blue Flower, plain.

The Cutlery is silver, made by Jezler (Switzerland), the pattern is called Centenaire.

The napkins are antique and the tablecloth is Swiss from Leinenhaus Berne. There is just something so special about monogrammed linens…absolutely love ’em!

Soooo pretty!

The vase is by Augarten/Vienna…it’s so perfect with the china. 🙂

The flowers are Lenten Roses from Cornelia’s garden. Love their gorgeous color! This so has me longing for a spring garden tour.

What a beautiful, silver serving piece! Johanna believes these are pastry tongs…gorgeous!

Here’s a close-up…

This looks like a cranberry server…love the patina…just beautiful!

The candlesticks are by Royal Copenhagen.

The teapot is silver and also made by Jezler.

The sugar bowl is by Jezler; the pattern is called, Rose.

Cornelia told me, “The chandelier is Dutch and antique. Please note that there is no electricity, only candles.” I’ve never seen an antique chandelier like this that was designed for candles. I’ve only seen reproductions…so it’s a delight to see the real thing!

Cornelia, thank-you so much for inviting us into your lovely home! It is such a treat! I am forever amazed and grateful for the opportunities blogging provides. Sitting right here in the comfort of our homes, we can travel all the way to Switzerland and enjoy a beautiful tablescape in a wonderful conservatory, while surrounded by rare treasures and antiques. We are so fortunate and truly blessed!

I’m so looking forward to viewing your beautiful tablescapes this evening!

  1. The china is so beautiful. Love that blue and white. Looks great on the pale blue tablecloth too. The sugar bowl is just fabulous – what a treasure! The hellebores look great. I never thought of them as a cut flower, but they look very, very pretty in her arrangement. Thanks for sharing!
    Blessings, Beth

  2. It's a beautiful table — love the blue and white but you know how I love blue and white — the table is amazing as are the Lenten roses (which recently have come to Linderhof's garden!)

    And the chandelier . . . perfection!

  3. marty (A Stroll Thru Life) says

Susan this is such a lovely room and a beautiful tablescape. I agree, I have not seen a real candelier, on the reproduction ones. What a fabulous place and everything is presented so beautifully. Hugs Marty

  4. Another gorgeous table! The blue and white china is swoon-worthy, and the silver flatware is so pretty and different from the patterns we usually see. The candelier is spectacular — perfect for the conservatory setting. Thank you for sharing Cornelia's beautiful table!

  5. I love the new picture link! It makes a great site even better!

  6. Susan, I apparently did something wrong when I linked – I'm #1 and clicking on the pic works but my name/blog name aren't there. I think I'll just let it be, rather than being on the list twice. Hopefully people will be entranced enough with the photo to click on it and view my post. Thanks for hosting!
    Beth

  7. Yvonne @ StoneGable says

Susan, Thank you for hosting TT and a trip to Switzerland this evening. Cornelia's conservatory is so inviting! I am such a fan of old linens, especially monogrammed ones. They are so beautiful, as is all the silver.

But the flowers, Lentin Roses, are breathtaking- the don't even look real. I wonder if they can be grown here?

And I certainly don't want to forget the tableware. Arn't those egg cups fabulous? so unique and fresh. Blue and white always looks so crisp and clean to me.

Thanks you to Cornelia and to you!
    Yvonne

  8. A beautiful table. Conservatory is now on the top of my "honey do" list. BTW love the new linky thing – even more browsing fun.

  9. Hi Susan,
thank you for hosting again TT. I love to participate to this Blogparty. And I love to have a look on tables like this today. Cornelia has a beautiful home and she knows how to decorate stunning tables. It's so interesting to see such a lot of good pieces Jezler silver. The unique tongs are pastry tongs and they are very delicate made. That's the kind of antiqued silver and I wouldn't be surprised if this pastry tongs was made in Hanau. The Royal Copenhagen with its dark blue flowers has a strong decorative aura. Greta table, I love it.
Greetings to you and Cornelia, Johanna

  10. Cindy (Applestone Cottage) says

    Hi Susan,
That was a really, fun tour! I love conservatories and am certain I need one too! Her blue and white china, blue tablecloth and silver is just stunning! I adore that table~
    Thanks,
    Cindy

  11. Forget moving to IL, I want to move to Switzerland! The table is lovely. I covet those silver pieces! Susan, I share your love of conservatories. One of the houses we're looking at in IL has one…and it's no accident that House Affairs is akin to An Affair with a House. I love Bunny Williams (although my own personal style is a little more simple). Thanks for hosting!

What a great idea this Mr Linky with pictures is.

What a wonderful room and setting in Cornelia's home and the shape of the tea cups are gorgeous, don't you think?

    Have a great week Susan,
    xxxxxxxxxx Coty

  35. Susan, thank you and Cornelia for such a lovely table! It is such a treat to come here and then quickly visit Switzerland. I adore Cornelia's blue and white china and especially loved the shape of the coffee cup. It's my favorite shape as it seems to hold a little more coffee 🙂 Cornelia has a lovely home!

Please tell Yvonne from Stone Gable that yes, Lenten Roses can indeed be grown here. They are "Helleborus" They are an easy shade loving pernennial and leaves are evergreen in warm climates. Here in my part of Virginia they tend to look ratty during the winter but by February they are greening up and mine are blooming by March.

Love these dishes!!.. I tell you, my daughter just rolls her eyes, at my love for collecting dishes! She doesn't have the appreciation for it quite YET… But they do make the holidays so much prettier, and everyday memories 'round the table all the sweeter, I think! I have just GOT to jump in and play along here, one of these days! ~tina

Gorgeous tablescape. And I love those windows, by the way. Also, I have linked to my dining room makeover challenge, where each week a desinger will redo my dining room. whereas there is no china displayed, the tablescape will change with each desing. I hope that is ok. If not, feel free to delete the link, ok? Thank you. Catherine

Stunning and the silver is to die for. The centerpiece is georgous.

  58. Abi's Blog says

Hi Susan, I love your blog and enjoy the many tablescapes so much! I had to write and tell you what my four year old grandson said today. I was looking at the tablescapes and he saw the tablescape button on my blog – He said, wait Abi, go back to the Mickey Mouse! I had no idea what he was talking about, but look at your button through the eyes of a four year old. – The cup and saucer and the bread plate make the ears and the round center plates make the head!! 🙂 I thought you might enjoy that.
Have a wonderful day and thanks so much for hosting this party!
    Ava

  61. Susan, I wanted to thank you for being so innovative and adding the pictures to Mr. Linky. It is pleasant to view a scene from the blog entries. A picture is worth a thousand words sums it up for me.

Thanks also for sharing Cornelia's blog from Switzerland. It was very enjoyable. I continue to be impressed with blogland.

  62. There’s something so uncontrived and intrinsically beautiful about Cornelia’s tables. The pieces and setting speak for themselves. I love her tables.
