Tartan Christmas Table Setting, Vintage Style

Welcome to the 374th Tablescape Thursday!

Before we get into this week’s Tablescape Thursday, I think I have some good news. It appears the Tartan Chargers are back in stock again, at least they are as I’m writing this on Saturday evening. You’ll find them here: Tartan Chargers

Recently Jeri who reads BNOTP, shared some pictures of a tablescape she created for work. Jeri has the enviable job of working at Williams-Sonoma. I would be in so much trouble if I worked there or for Pottery Barn. I’d have to just tell them to keep my paycheck each week! lol

Christmas Table Setting

Jerri put together a beautiful table setting using tartan chargers and salad plates along with several of the wonderful pieces William-Sonoma has out this season in their “vintage” collection. The dinner plates are from the vintage line, as is the glassware.

The flatware Jeri chose is simple, but elegant.

I adore these “Gold Rim Coupe” glasses. Designed for toasting, they will hold a generous portion of champagne. They are a reproduction design, as are the other glasses pictured here. Love them! You’ll find them the gold-rimmed glasses here: Champagne Glasses and the other vintage glassware here: Vintage Glassware

I love these super tall tapers…they really give the table an elegant feel. I’m going to look for those next time I’m in the store.

I’ve always wanted a silver dome big enough to cover a big, fat turkey. It would be fun to bring it to the table for the big reveal. These are silver-plated so very reasonably priced. Plus, I noticed tonight, they are currently on sale. You’ll find the silver domes here: Silverplate Serving Dome

More shiny pretties…gravy boats, napkin rings…

Thanks to Jeri for sharing her vintage style table setting with us for this Tablescape Thursday! I’ll be returning home tomorrow and I’m looking forward to sharing the Sailing With The Scotts design cruise with you soon!

If you are participating in Tablescape Thursday, please be sure to add your permalink below, and not your general blog address.

To get your permalink, click on your post name, then copy and paste the address showing in the address bar, into the “url” box when you link up. You’ll need to include a link in your post back to the party to link up and participate.

That’s so visitors to your blog will be able to find the party and the other Tablescape Thursday participants. Requiring a link back also prevents businesses from linking up to sell their products. (Yep, that really happens, unfortunately.)

Please, don’t add your post name/blog name ALL IN CAPS…it tends to create big spaces between the rows of links.

Please do not link up table settings that were just recently shared in the last few weeks for Tablescape Thursday.

  1. Gosh this year I’m in love with Tartan more than ever. I can’t store those chargers so I have to pass on them. I’m not familiar with their “Vintage” line of dishes- I’ll have to check them out. Thank you as always for the blog party!

  2. Absolutely love this….. yes. can’t buy everything… but if I were starting over this would be it!!!!

  3. Susan, They would keep my paycheck and I would owe them money each pay period! Thanks for hosting 🙂

  4. Susan, I am seeing Tartan everywhere, it is a classic! I just purchased Tartan Christmas ornaments for the tree this year so the beautiful chargers will have to wait until next year:( As always, thanks for the party! Christine

  5. About two months ago I bought tartan chargers at Michaels for less than $3 each! They are more autumnal than what you’re featuring and lightweight, but wow, I couldn’t believe it so I bought what they had left (only four). I showed them in my Fall Tour post, but I doubt they’re still available.

Thanks for the party Susan, and enjoy your weekend!

  6. I was cruising around WS the other day, trying not to buy anything! How much fun to work there and “play” with all their stuff! Thanks for the party!

  7. Susan, I’ve been to WS a couple of times and have taken photos of these dishes on tables set for the holidays. I’m seriously considering a set of the napkins. I have other elements that would pull this look together, though have to say the chargers are more to my liking than the ones I’ve been collecting. A little late to change. ‘-)
Hope you are having fair skies for sailing.

  8. After spending 20 years in the Navy, I can honestly say this is the first job I have loved since before I got out. So much fun meeting people and talking tablescaping and cooking.

  9. All of that beautiful tartanware! So lovely. Thank you for sharing and for hosting this week! Also, thank you for your previous post a bit back featuring WS Plymouth. It’s just as gorge in person! ❤

  10. Beautiful details and I love those napkins!

    Thanks for sharing, Jeri! 😀

  12. For the last two weeks Michael’s has had tartan chargers for 40% off. At the regular price of $4.50 each that’s not a bad deal. Gorgeous tables!

  13. I got the tartan chargers last week from Michaels! LOOOOOVE them! Can’t wait to do tables with them too. I don’t have a new table to share this week, too busy decorating;):) It sure is alot of work for this old gal:):)

  14. Underneath the tartan chargers are Presidio silver-plated chargers. It looks like it could be part of the tartan chargers but it’s another one just peaking out

  15. Those tartan chargers are amazing Susan! I have to find a way to talk my husband into them. Hope you are having a great week. Take care, Tara

  16. I would love to have a job where I went to different stores doing tables. Wouldn’t that be a fun gig!

  17. Your amazing tartan bedding photos initially got me inspired but now I want to decorate with Tartan everything! I have the Spode Gold Christmas Tree dinnerware and would love to pair that with a tartan charger this year. Have to get to the city to explore at WS!

  18. It would be so much fun to have a job where I had unlimited access to all of those fun dishes and tabletop stuff to play with! I bought those tartan chargers at Michael’s and used them for the tablescape I shared here today!

  19. I, too, have bought the chargers at Michael’s. They are very inexpensive, but also quite cheap. I think they will break easily, but it does give the “look” at a price I can afford! Those from WS would be wonderful, but I cannot justify the cost. I am glad others have also found the Michael’s chargers and are using them.

  20. I was in WS just yesterday…If only I had carte blanche there. ha. I was ooohing and ahhhing at everything. This year’s Christmas plates are beautiful!

  21. So beautiful, Susan! I bought the chargers too just 2 days ago and I think I got either 15 or 20% off. I really shouldn’t be buying anymore dinnerware cause I am supposed to have downsized after moving to FL, lol, but it is so hard for me to resist these…..Christine

  22. Hi, Susan! Love the display table! I’d love to have a job like Jeri has: access to all that loveliness?! But, you’re right: My paycheck would never make it home. Hope your trip is going well; look forward to hearing about it. Oh,.. for some reason I never received BNOTP post notification this week. Take care and thank you for hosting this fun Thursday party! Rosie

  23. Just saw Tartan dishes at HomeGoods.

  24. What a fun job, getting paid to create what you love. Thanks for sharing. Tartan is always a Christmas favorite for me. Happy Thanksgiving, Linda

Tablescaping for Williams Sonoma–wow, sounds like a dream job to me!! :0) Someday after I retire from my engineering career, I should look into a similar post-retirement “career.” :0). Hope your cruise is/was a blast, Susan. Have a great weekend.

  26. Hi Susan. I love the Tartan Charges and everything in that picture. I followed your directions and I hope I linked my post up correctly this time. Please let me know. Thanks!

  27. Hi Susan, I’ve been a fan of your site for years.

I have a Pinterest but no blog. Tried to link the Pinterest URL on one of my Christmas table-scapes but I’m not sure it went through.

  28. Gorgeous.

  29. Plaid is so hot right now. I have my KMart plaid dishes out now & they are so pretty with those salad plates YOU made famous. 😉 Did you see the new patterns?

    • I know…I love that plaid/tartan is so popular now. It’s so easy to find pretty plaid goodies now. I love it…always have! lol I do sometimes wonder if that’s why they seen to have been so popular and why they keep brining them back. I don’t know how much my posts where I’ve used them has helped, they are just so cute…who can resist! I saw the new patterns online but haven’t gotten any yet. My Wally World hadn’t gotten them in when I checked a couple of weeks ago. I need to check back again…would love a few of the new design.
