Welcome to the 621st Metamorphosis Monday, a blog party sharing fabulous Before and Afters!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! I have a wonderful transformation to share with you today for Metamorphosis Monday! Lorelei, a lovely BNOTP reader, recently shared a big change she made in two of the rooms in her home.
Before we go inside, I have to share how beautifully Lorelei has decorated the exterior of her home for Christmas! Notice how she used greenery at the windowsill level for the windows with Bahama/Bermuda style shutters. Such a great way to decorate those windows where a wreath wouldn’t be as visible.
Seeing this picture reminds me that I forgot to put a wreath on my lantern and birdhouse this year. How did I forget that? Love how this looks! Notice the wreaths around the lanterns on either side of the front door. Beautiful!
So what are the big changes Lorelei has made inside? When she moved into her home, all the walls throughout the home were painted a dark blue.
Lorelei brightened up her entry with new paint, choosing Benjamin Moore’s Linen White for this transformation. I love how this looks! Lorelei described Linen White as having yellow undertones. I love the softness of this color and how beautifully it contrasts with her white trim paint.
The dining room definitely saw a huge transformation. Here’s how it looked prior to painting. As you can see in this photo, the walls in the dining room were also dark blue.
Lorelei liked the red paint color I chose for my dining room many years ago.
I came across this color years ago during an annual Christmas tour of historic homes in my area. One of the homes we toured had a cozy den with a beautiful fire blazing away in the fireplace. The room was painted in a red that captured my heart, it all felt so cozy and soooo inviting!
I asked the docent for the paint color and she told me it was Benjamin Moore, Raspberry Truffle. I left that day knowing that I HAD to use that color somewhere in my home. I loved it and wanted to recreate that feeling that I felt during the tour in my own home. Just wish my dining had a fireplace! lol
Lorelei chose Raspberry Truffle for her dining room, too and it turned out beautifully! Love it with white trim!
Raspberry Truffle is such a rich red. It tends to change a bit throughout the day depending on the light. I guess a lot of paint colors do that, don’t they?
This photo picturing a beautiful Hardanger needlework piece created by Lorelei, best shows the true color of Raspberry Truffle. I love how it looks with the “Linen White” color in the entry.
Have you ever heard of Hardanger needlework? I had not, but it is truly beautiful! Such intricate detail! What a gorgeous piece to be cherished and passed down through the generations.
Thanks so much to Lorelei for sharing her beautiful dining room and entry/foyer makeover! I am smitten with Benjamin Moore, Linen White now! I’ve been looking for a new color for my upstairs hallway since Sugar Cookie is a bit too yellow in that space since it has no windows. Linen White may just be perfect for that area! I hope Lorelei will share more of her paint choices as she paints other rooms in her home. It’s so much easier to choose a paint color when you can actually see it in a room in different lighting.
Have you transformed a room with paint recently? If so, I would love to see your Before and After pictures! You can email them to me at: [email protected].
Looking forward to all the wonderful Before and Afters linked for this week’s Met Monday!

Metamorphosis Monday is a party that’s all about Before and Afters. Please link up your Before and After projects like DIY projects, room makeovers, craft projects even recipes. Any Before and After is great! Please do not link up Table Settings, save those for our Tablescape Thursday party on Thursday.
If you are participating in Met Monday, please link up using the “permalink” to your MM post and not your general blog address. To get your permalink, click on your post name, then just copy and paste the address that shows up in the address bar at the top of your blog, into the “url” box for InLinkz when prompted.
In order to link up, you’ll need to include a link in your MM post back to the party so the other participants will have an opportunity to receive visits from your wonderful blog readers.
Update: Please do not link up table settings/tablescapes for Metamorphosis Monday. Please save those for our Tablescape Thursday party on Thursdays. Recipes are fine because that’s definitely a “Before and After” but please save your beautiful table settings for Tablescape Thursday. Pretty vignettes (transformations) you’ve created on atop a chest or somewhere in your home are great for our Before and After party, but let’s save the actual table settings for Tablescape Thursday.
This party has ended, click button below for the links to all who participated.
Such a gorgeous home, thanks for sharing it with all of us. Her outdoor Christmas decor is perfect! Seeing her lamp post made me realize I hadn’t even thought about a wreath on mine. Have a great Christmas week, Susan, and thanks so much for hosting each week!
Oh, I do so love seeing how one “upscales’ their rooms!! What a difference and just lovely!! KUDOS!! franki ps…I’m still finding places for a little Christmas “this ‘n that”….oh, dear… franki
Absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful house and love the colors!
Beautiful! I had raspberry truffle in dining area, per decorator years ago. I now have Ben Moore Pashmina. I’m missing the truffle!
Thanks for sharing Susan. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Beautiful paint colors! I, too, do Hardanger. It’s a type of Norwegian Needlework.
I had never heard about Hardanger until I saw Lorelei’s beautiful needlework. Jane, does it take a long time to make/create? It looks like it would take longer than cross stitch.
Susan, it depends on the pattern that you use. The NOEL bellpull would probably take a little bit longer than cross stitch. The gorgeous sampler is an advanced piece and that would take quite a bit longer to do.
I used to teach Hardanger and the students who had done counted cross stitch were surprised at how quickly they caught on to it. I hope you give it a try sometime……you need to find a teacher who will give you some good tips! Merry Christmas!
The bell pull worked up much more quickly than the framed Christmas piece. Hardanger is stressful as you do the stitching first then very carefully cut away the linen fabric. If you cut something wrong, there goes your work! The framed piece has many different stitches, including cross stitch, bargello, satin stitch, and drawn thread.
Hello Lorelei, was the bell pull a kit or is it your own design?
It was not a kit, but a pattern leaflet that I bought in a shop in Myrtle Beach area many many years ago.
So fun to see that same beautiful red paint in two different rooms! We have a red room in our house too, and we love it! So nice of Lorelei and you to share her beautiful home’s transformation. And how about that cute goose with the red ribbon around its neck! 🙂 Thanks and Happy Monday!
Oh this was a great share, Susan. Lorelei’s home is gorgeous. It is fun to change colors – it always is such a fresh new start for many reasons – moving,
life changes, Covid isolation – we changed the bedroom recently. Hope to share soon.
Loved this post!

James Farmer loves BM Linen White.
Well, then we know it’s a great choice! 🙂 Linda, do you remember which rooms he likes to use it in?
If you go to his blog, he talks about linen white as his “go to white.” Search James Farmer linen white. Merry Christmas, Susan. You have given me some wonderful ideas.
Beautiful colors chosen! Yes, I’m familiar with hardanger linens. They are lovely, and Lorelei’s are exceptional!
