The Midas Touch: Tablescaping in All Gold for a Special Birthday Celebration

Welcome to the 544th Tablescape Thursday!

Recently BNOTP readers, Warren and Kathie, shared some wonderful photos with me of a table Warren had put together for a special upcoming event. They make a great team since Kathie does all the cooking while Warren takes care of the table setting.

Warren said, “We are having a party, this time in celebration of my sister-in-law’s 70th birthday.” In honor of this special birthday, Warren set the table in all gold, calling it the “Midas Tablescape.”

Tablescape in Gold, The Midas Touch

Even the centerpiece was done in gold!

Anyone would feel like royalty dining here, wouldn’t they?

Setting the table in a Gold Theme with Gold Dinnerware & Gold Flatware

Warren said, “The dinner plates are antique Hutschenreuther plates. The gold chargers, glasses, vase and candelabras are from Home Goods. We bought the gold utensils at an outlet store in Lancaster, Pennsylvania many years ago.” Warren added, “I do not use gold candles because I have found they tend to drip badly and ruin tablecloths.”

I love these gold-rimmed goblets. They are also from HomeGoods.

Thanks so much to Warren and Kathie for sharing this beautiful birthday celebration tablescape! This table makes me think I need some gold flatware in my life, it would go so beautifully with many of my Christmas dish patterns! Maybe a trip to Lancaster, Pennsylvania is in order!

Looking forward to the beautiful tables shared for this week’s Tablescape Thursday!

If you are participating in Tablescape Thursday, please be sure to add your permalink below, and not your general blog address. To get your permalink, click on your post name, then copy and paste the address showing in the address bar, into the “url” box when you link up.

You’ll need to include a link in your post back to the party to link up and participate. That’s so visitors to your blog will be able to find the party and the other Tablescape Thursday participants. Requiring a link back also prevents businesses and scammers from linking up to sell their products. (Yup, that really happens, unfortunately.)

Pssst: InLinkz has upgraded to a new system for linking up for blog parties. If you have any trouble linking up today, please check to make sure you’re using the most current version of your browser.

If you are using the most current version but are still having a problem linking up, please let me know so I can report it to InLinkz. Thanks for your patience as we all adjust to the new InLinkz system.

What a great idea to use the crown plates for a birthday party! I have the same salad plates and I use them for Mardi Gras with my mothers Royal Worcester Bacchanal dinner plates but I will be expanding their use. Thanks for a great tablescape and a great idea. Lovely tablescape.

  16. Susan,
for some while I toyed with the idea of planning a 3-months vacation at Amish people in Lancaster as I’ve always been fascinated by their way of life, maybe I should go ahead with that plan… 🙂

The crown plates were made by Muirfield China. We bought them at Marshalls many years ago. They rarely appear on Ebay and when they do they are very expensive.

  19. LOL, Kem! Most women would want a Warren! What a lovely table! Nothing is more elegant than gold, and Warren nailed this one! What a wonderful brother-in-law to create such a beautiful table for his sister-in-law’s 70th birthday. Warren’s a keeper!

  20. Oh I LOVE all gold – this is stunning and has really inspired me to try a slightly different twist on my usual white and gold! Thanks Warren and Susan! 🙂
