Welcome to the 471st Tablescape Thursday!
I attended a fun Low-Country Boil at Marie’s earlier in the week. Marie often hosts gatherings for civic organizations in the community. This event was being held for the YMCA.
The weather was perfect for the evening, I never even needed a sweater. We had the usual you would expect for a low-country boil: shrimp, corn on the cob, potatoes and sausage. Dessert was Coco-cola Cupcakes and they were yummy! I didn’t take photos of the food, but it was served buffet style and was delicious!
Love these cute dragonfly tablecloth anchors!
I took quite a few photos of the Halloween decorations and will share those soon. Folks were just starting to arrive, so I had to take pictures quickly. Marie’s home was decorated for Halloween all throughout the downstairs, including three tables.
Later in the night, guests asked if they could walk around and Marie graciously said, Yes, of course! Everyone had so much fun and enjoyed all her Halloween decor.
So cute! I have the clear wine glasses with the arched kitty and I purchased mine from Overstock. I think the spider napkin rings are from Pier 1 a few years back.
The plates are really cute with ghosts and spiders, bats and pumpkins.
Even an owl!
Love the centpiece!
Marie always has a wonderful display in the center of her large kitchen island for every holiday.
The breakfast table was also set for the holiday. Since Marie’s six grandchildren have all grown bigger now, this is where they normally dine when the family is here all together.
Such a fun table! I have this flatware and it’s beautiful! It’s also perfect for a Halloween table setting. Flatware is available here: Black Flatware.
Marie has a small table in her family room that is sometimes used when she has a large gathering and needs some additional space.
It was set for Halloween, too! Love the cute pumpkin place card holders. Notice the bell napkin rings! If you saw something for which you would like to know the source, let me know and I’ll ask Marie. I’m have an appointment this morning, but I’ll check with Marie once I’m back.
Twig Flatware is Back!
If you are one of the folks who has always wanted the twig flatware that I so often use in table settings, I noticed this morning that Pier 1 has it again this year, and this time in three colors! As you know, this flatware can be difficult to find. West Elm used to carry but hasn’t in recent years. Pier 1 has it this year in Gold, Silver and Bronze. I have it in Silver and in Bronze and love it. I’m super tempted to get in the Gold, as well.
You’ll find it here on sale, 25% off and with free shipping: Twig Flatware. Use the code BIG25 for 25% off and FREESHIP49 to get free shipping. Here are a few pics of how I’ve used mine over the years.
Looking forward to all the beautiful tables posted for this week’s Tablescape Thursday!

You’ll need to include a link in your post back to the party to link up and participate. That’s so visitors to your blog will be able to find the party and the other Tablescape Thursday participants. Requiring a link back also prevents businesses and scammers from linking up to sell their products. (Yup, that really happens, unfortunately.)
Wow, I would have loved to have gotten to see her tables and her backyard in real life! Makes me feel like I need to get moving! I usually have my tables set too and was being lazy this year! So much to look at! I love how she had the stacks of books on the table at the back of the couch and she just used those to elevate her decor! What a collection of Halloween fun!
Susan, your friend Marie is amazing. That takes a lot of work for each special holiday! Thank you for sharing her creative and stunning tables!
Wow you are so lucky to be able to attend functions at her home! That back yard is fantastic- I can’t believe how many of those outdoor tables they have. She really does everything first class! There is so much to love about all her halloween tables. I adore that centerpiece arrangement and those napkins shaped like a man’s tie! She has the best dishes!
I always love seeing Marie’s over-the-top decor! These tables are all incredible and so inspiring. How fun to attend one of her parties. Thank you for sharing this inspiration and thanks for hosting.
That Marie…the consummate party giver!!! She just goes bananas in her decorating, and I LOVE IT!!! My kinda gal! She’s got a great sense of whimsy! Yes…I have long wanted some of that twig flatware, but it’s just not in the budget. Doggone it!!! When I buy, I like to buy in 12+. I also know I would want it in both the bronze and gold. That gets pricey as you well know. I need to get a job…or a parttime job…or a husband who makes more money!!! 🙂 OK…none of those three things are going to happen, so I guess I’ll just have to admire it from afar! Have a great weekend, and thanks again for hosting this party. 471, huh? Wow!!!!!!!
love the ghost dipping bowls /where can i find some? Thanks so much Sharon
Sharon, I checked with Marie and she said she found those in HomeGoods.
Susan, I so love when you post, it’s like looking at a pretty present!! Marie always does a fantastic job. Just wanted to pass along this information, that Sur La Table also carries the twig flatware. (in bronze only) The place settings there are only 3 pieces instead of 5 like Pier 1. Sur La Table has serving pieces though and even appetizer forks.
Marie’s Halloween decor is impressive! I can only imagine how you felt seeing it up close. Thanks for the heads up about the twig flatware and for hosting.
Yet again, Marie’s decor is extraordinaire! There is so much enjoy and take in, that after reading the above comments, I realized I had missed some, and had review the post again.
What gorgeous tables and decorations. If you could ask, where did she get that spider lace-like black cover on the kitchen table? So different. Love the underneath plaid cloth also. Thanks so much for sharing with us.
Thanks, Kathy,
I checked with Marie said she found the lace cover in HomeGoods.
Thank you. Have to make a trip to HomeGoods.
Your friend Marie always does it up right.
Awesome Halloween spreads, lots of fun, any kid and adult would love. My grands live far away now, so I don’t think I will do a table this year.
Thank you for always hosting such an inspiring party.
Fabby
I would love to meet Marie. She must have a lot of energy, her displays are even better and more involved than most retail stores. I have to accept that I could never do this but certainly admire it. Her grandchildren must have been thrilled visiting her while they were little, and now too. Thanks for always sharing her decor.
Wow, Susan, thanks for sharing Marie’s set up for the event. She does an outstanding job of providing a wonderful array, and it’s obvious she must be high on the list for desirable sponsors of such events. It’s so nice that she shares it with the community. I love it all!
How wonderful Marie is to share her home to the community for such events.
I am sure that any of the visitors would jump at the chance to attend when she does such a fabulous job of decorating. Its just so nice that she shares her fabulous talents for good causes.
That Marie! I don’t know how she does it all! Thank you Susan!
Marie has done it again. I love seeing her beautiful and creative decor. She is the best. Thank you Marie for sharing your beautiful home with us.
Some really great decor ideas for Halloween. I love seeing all the different table ideas.
What a great display. Everything is so perfect for Halloween. I love every table settings. I cannot choose a favorite, they are all so gorgeous. Thank You for sharing.
Marilyn
I love the plates that are on the dining room table, would love to know where she got them. Her settings are always so beautiful and I am so glad she lets you share it all with us!!!!! It must be so fun to go to a party at her amazing home!!!!
Hi Pinky, I just heard back from Marie this morning and she said, “The dishes were designed by someone named Laura Gates and most of them were found on eBay.” She added, “I had a really hard time finding enough.”
I’ve wanted that twig flatware for years so thanks! Only thing, u can’t use both promotions on the same order.
I just called their customer service number to ask if you could use both promotions and they said that you can only use one, but if you have it shipped to the store and pick it up there, you don’t pay shipping. I’ll be so glad when stores stop charging for shipping. You would think they would see the success of Amazon, Zappos, L.L. Bean and get a clue. I live within 2 miles of a Pier 1, so I can pick things up easily…go by it all the time on the way to other places. But I know not everyone lives that close to a Pier 1.
So I went to the local Pier 1 store. Flatware is only available online and it doesn’t offer local store pickup. But, by ordering at the store I was able to get both discounts and have it sent to my home. FYI I ordered two sets of the bronze. Can’t wait until it arrives!
Glad you were able to get it ordered…I just love it. 🙂
Love to know where she bought the dishes. So cute. Just loved the pictures. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Debbie, Marie said that the dishes in the dining room were were designed by Laura Gates and she found most of them on eBay. Someone else mentioned seeing them in HomeGoods several years ago.
What a “spook-tacular” event! Thank you Marie and Susan for sharing. Her back yard is BEAUTIFUL. Are all the tables and chairs hers, or do they rent them?
All the chairs and tables belong to Marie, they aren’t rented. Marie and her husband, Roy, host a lot of civic and charitable events at her home, so they get a lot of use as you would imagine. Marie mentioned the night I was there that she said she was getting ready to have all the chairs and lounges recovered again.
Where did she get her centerpieces? Those are just fabulous. I assume they could be easily made and if so, where did she get all the odds ‘n ends? Also, where did she find all the goodies for her kitchen island display?
Lovely home. Been enjoying all the tablescapes for years now.
Hi Leigh, I emailed Marie about the island centerpiece and she said she’s had the carriages so long, she can’t remember where she found those. I’ll check with her on the other centerpieces. There’s a local shop the Acorn that has a lot of pretty floral centerpieces…she may have gotten some of them from Acorn. Will let you know what I find out.
Leigh, Marie said she found the floral arrangement she used on the kitchen island and on her dining room table in Michaels.
Thanks so much for the info! I ran to Hobby Lobby today to see if I could find anything close. Halloween was pretty picked over. Will go to Michael’s tomorrow to see what I can find!
Y’all just have lovely and inviting tables!
Thanks for always sharing!
Susan, I never heard of a Low-Country Boil before so thank you for the education. As for Marie’s Halloween Tablescapes; they truly are amazing in every detail and thank you both for sharing. -Brenda-
P.S.: Here is Canada it is our Thanksgiving weekend with a mix of Halloween as we usually visit a pumpkin patch with the Grand Children …. .
What is the in-hand feel of your twig flatware like? I was once considering getting some (not necessarily your brand), but after picking up a couple of pieces, decided the weight/feel was awkward.
Love, love, love Marie’s vision, talent…and budget. *L*
The one I have feels fine. I’ve used it for a dinner party and everyone liked it. It’s different, but worked great.
Unfortunately you cannot combine the 25% off and the free shipping on the same order for the twig flatware at Pier 1. 🙁
Yup, I found that out when I was trying to order. Janet, if you order something online and then have it shipped to the store to pick up, you can avoid the shipping. So if you have a Pier 1 near you, you may want to do that.
Hello Susan, I love all of the tablescapes that you share on your blog. Marie’s home is beautifully decorated and very festive for Halloween. Would you mind asking her where she purchased the darling ghost that are in front of each place setting in her dining room (with the Laurie Gates dinnerware).
Thank you and I hope you are doing well!!
Christina, that one I know. lol I asked her a few days ago and she said she found those in Pier 1. Not sure if it was this year or last year, though.
I’m always delighted to see Marie’s Halloween decorating. Her house looks so beautiful and festive fun. I would love to see it in person. Her back garden area is the perfect place for parties.
I’m woefully behind decorating this year. I’m off to finish hanging the last of the ornaments on my Halloween tree. Then clean the downstairs and I’ll be ready to celebrate the season.
Happy Halloween!
