Updating My Spring Wardrobe & A Designer Inspired Purchase I Made

This morning I had a $25 Talbots Reward Certificate that was burning a hole in my pocket. lol The weather has been sunny and beautiful the last few days so I decided it was time to use that certificate and shop the awesome spring sale they have going right now. The sale gives you 30% off everything at the site, including all sale items. I also received an email with a code for 40% off any one item that’s currently at regular price.

I’m eyeing this cardigan that comes in several colors. I love long cardigans that come down long enough to cover the tush. This one is currently 30% off, or 40% off with the code FRESH40 at check out. You’ll find this cardigan available here: Cardigan.

I love the cute button detail along the bottom/side of these pants! You’ll find these 30% off here or 40% off with the code FRESH40: Pants with Button Detail.

Love these, too! Plus, they are available in the “curvy” style for folks like me whose waist is smaller in proportion to their hips. The curvy style always fits me perfectly in the waist and the hips. You’ll find this available at 30 % off (or 40% with FRESH40) here: Chambray Crop Pants.

Love this cute, cute shirt! It’s available 30% off or 40% with the code FRESH40 here: Spring Floral Shirt.

So far, this is the item I’ve ordered. It comes in several colors and I went with black. It’s part soft merino wool and the reviews are awesome! Apparently it’s a nice weight and flattering based on the reviews. That’s what I like to read when purchasing a sweater like this.

It was marked down from $169 down to $103.99. I got an additional 30% off and used my $25.00 Talbots reward making it $52.16 after tax. It should be a nice transition piece for spring.

If you need a really nice sweater, this one is on sale plus you get an additional 30% off at checkout. You’ll find it here: Sweater, Blazer Style.

I was shopping online this morning at one of my favorite stores, Tuckernuck, where I’ve purchased several coats, bags and hats over the years. You may remember this sunhat that I’ve shared in the past.

I’ve purchased it three times now, that’s how much I love it! I have it with a navy-blue bow, a pink bow and the white/cream bow seen below. It’s definitely my favorite sunhat for summer and for travel. You’ll find it available here: Sun Hat.

Note: The code ACTFAST will get you 10% off your order. I used that code and saved 10% when I ordered two items from them today.

I’ve always been so impressed with the quality of the clothes, coats, bags and hats I’ve purchased at Tuckernuck, so I love to check out their new offerings each season. They have a dress right now that I desperately want, but sadly it’s sold out of my size. I hope they get it back in. If they do, I will definitely buy it and will share it with you because it’s adorable!

Anyway, I did make one purchase this morning, a pair of sandals that remind me of some designer sandals I’ve been drooling over for years. These Valentino sandals are $775 at the Valentino website online. That’s def more than I want to spend on sandals but I love the look! I normally wear flat sandals or sandals with a 1-inch heel during the summer, but I’ve been thinking about going a bit higher since I love how a higher heel looks with jeans.

Tuckernuck has these and wow, they look so similar! I decided to give them a try and ordered a pair this morning. They aren’t super cheap but are drastically less than the Valentinos. I bought them a 1/2 size up based on a review I read. I normally wear a 7 so I purchased a 7-1/2 size.

If you love the look of Valentino but not the prices, you’ll find these available here: Sandals. Again, the code ACTFAST will give you 10% off, plus shipping is free.

The other item I purchased today was this beautiful summer dress. I love the color and how breezy and light it looks! You’ll find it available here: Summer Dress.

Again, I used the code ACTFAST to get 10% off.

There was one more item that caught my eye and made me think of a designer I love. Dior has made several products in this beautiful blue and white Toile de Jouy pattern. If you’re a Dior fan, you would have seen this pattern a lot of the past year. They have used it on their handbags, scarves, throws, totes, dresses and many other items.

This is the shirt that caught my eye at Tuckernuck. For a minute, I thought it was Dior! I’ve always found shirts with a square-cut neck so flattering on, so I’m very tempted to order this one. If you love it, you’ll find it available here: Dior Inspired Shirt.

One last find…love this Barbour scarf in pink! It’s marked down from $75 to $26.00 with an extra 10% off with the code ACTFAST at checkout. This scarf is available here: Pink Scarf.

Okay, I’m off to do a bit more spring shopping! Enjoy this beautiful pre-spring weekend!

I love those hats! Which style do you have?

  2. Franki Parde says

YOU are on a roller high!! You had me at blue cardigan…so pretty!! ” How far would you walk for a camel…” franki

  3. Talbots always seems very old fashioned when I go in there. White House Black Market is still classic but at least has a bit of modernity.

    • I guess everyone has their favorite shops. I love Talbot’s classic styles, they really appeal to me and I know I can wear them forever.

  4. I so love your shopping advice Susan – that Dior inspired pattern is darling! Thanks for the heads up on the sales too! Happy Saturday!

  5. I love your shopping ideas. Even on sale, many items are more than I want to spend. Do you ever shop at Ross, TJ Maxx, or Marshall’s for designer items? My latest find was a really cute, blue seersucker, and eyelet Calvin Klein summer dress, that is really well made (fully cotton lined, invisible zipper) for $40. I hit the jackpot on that one.

    • I used to shop in Marshall’s year’s ago, but the last time I checked the one near me, they didn’t have a nice selection of classic, well-made clothes. They usually just have a few of the good brands right at the front as you walk in the door, then the rest is trendy, fast fashion type clothes that won’t last through many washings/wearing. I wish they carried more of the better quality brands. Your eyelet sounds beautiful!
I don’t buy that many pieces each season, except the year I purchased a bunch of L.L. Bean flannel shirts to stock up, but I do focus on buying classic pieces (for the most part) so they won’t go out of style and I can wear them for years. They sometimes cost more but I’d rather pay a bit more and buy pieces I know I’ll love for a very long time.
I’m still wearing the same polka dot shirt I blogged about getting a few summers ago from Talbots. I just wore it and a Talbots sweater to lunch with a friend a few days ago…and they both still look almost like they did when they were new.
That would actually make a good blog post, sharing clothes I’ve purchased over the years that I still wear today, but honestly, that’s pretty much everything in my closet. I’ve gotten rid of very little.

  6. Susan, love the green and white dress you picked up! And that star/flower print top would look so cute with the blue pants. Top it with the red cardigan for added pizazz. 😀

And I especially love the Tuckernuck blue and white top!! That style suits me very well. Glad you’re having fun adding to your wardrobe. I bet your closets are full! 🙂 This week things are warming up where I am. It’s really starting to feel like Spring!
