Beach Themed Table Setting

Welcome to the 22nd Tablescape Thursday!

I’ve been under the weather for about 2 weeks with a bad cold that seems to be getting worse instead of better, especially today. So, hope you won’t mind, but for this week I thought I’d re-post the first tablescape I ever created for Tablescape Tuesday. It’s a Beach themed tablescape and honestly, I think we could all use a little “escape” from the cold right now.

So, for the next little bit, listen to the beach music (yep, there’s beach music) and enjoy this escape. Oh, and if you don’t mind…try not too track too much sand onto the porch. 🙂

I found some whimsical shell candlesticks last summer…they inspired me to put together this “beach” themed tablescape…

Found this sea-blue flatware at Pier 1 and it was half off.   Thought it worked well with the colors in the china and glasses…what do you think?

I made the napkin rings by hot-gluing pretty shells to plain wooden rings.

Used both starfish-shaped and shell-shaped, salad plates in this tablescape…the starfish plate is shown here…

Shell-shaped salad plate… I found all this china at Kohl’s last summer. They seem to be getting it back in again for this summer…saw some just the other day.

Do you see the little starfish on the glass?

Sea-biscuit bread plate…I think he wants a bite!

Love how the bowls are decorated on all four sides…

Now weren’t these candlesticks just designed to go with this beach china?!

Close-up of candlestick base…found these at Home Goods.

“Come walk with me, along the sea, where dusk sits on the land. And search with me, for shells are free, and treasures hide in sand.” (Author unknown)

Hope you enjoyed this little escape to the beach. Please take a moment to visit all the wonderful tablescapes posted just for you on this Tablescape Tuesday!

  28. Lynne (lynnesgiftsfromtheheart) says

Susan, thanks for hosting another tablescape Tuesday. Hope you feel better soon girl. How can a person tire of looking at a beautiful table like this? Makes me yearn for warm weather. They’re calling for snow year again this evening.. and the winds are howling once again. Your tablescape inspired me so much the first time I saw it, I swore at some point I was going to purchase some of these fine dishes. Not too long ago my daughter and I were shopping and we picked them up on sale at Kohl’s. I plan to do a tablescape at some point and then surprise her with them. She adores anything that is beachy…feel better soon girlfriend. hugs ~lynne~

  29. Wow! I just got in from the beach, and guess what?…your table makes me want to go BACK! ;o) Thanks for another great TT!

  30. OK, whatever you’re doing isn’t getting the job done. I do believe it’s time to check with a Doctor. Of course you probably won’t listen to me, you seldom do.

Loved the tablescape. Can’t even think how you managed to find a pail for your shells that matched exactly. The flatware is dead on also. Those square chargers are just perfect.

Unfortunately it’s really not Summer, as your table suggests, and there is something really nasty making the rounds. I really think it would be a good idea if you at least touched bases with your Doctor. Nuff said.

  31. Masterpieces never get old 🙂
And you are so right..we are tired of the cold and yearning to feel the warm breezes…!
I think what I like best Susan is your personal tweaking…the items that you changed to fit your needs…to me, that is the essence of design! And adds the breath of personality, that changes ho hum to fab!

  32. Hi Susan! Just hooked up with Mr. Linky…oooh, that didn’t sound right! ;-/ Well, you know what I mean! What a great idea! Thanks again for hosting Tablescape Tuesday, I’m glad to be back playing!! Hope you feel better soon.
    Love your tablescape–worth the rerun!!

  33. Blondie's Journal says

This tablescape is just beautiful. I love the beach theme, especially the sea shell napkin ring, what an innovative idea. Have been to your blog before but just had to comment this time, maybe because the beach theme inspired such a longing in me for warm weather! 🙂
    Just lovely…

    xoxo
    Jane

  34. Lovely table, Susan. Everything goes so perfectly.

Hope you are feeling better today.

  35. This is beautiful. I’m new to blogging, so I hadn’t seen it before. I just love everything about it, the china is lovely. So creative and yes it does make me yearn for the beach and summer. Feel better soon, Kathy

  36. Susan,
I LOVE this tablescape. All of the many details that you have put into it. Simply beautiful! You certainly have a great decorating eye and I always enjoy seeing what you have done in your home.

oh this is still gorgeous and the first one that I saw and made me think about tablescaping and introduced me to this fun hobby

sigh if only I had more time at the moment, with my kiddos of school it’s all been a bit too busy to foof with the table…next time

    I’ll enjoy these ladies though

thanks susan and I hope you are feeling better soon, when I had my mystery six week illness a few months ago I think it was nothing other than a virus, sometimes i think they come along to force us to slow down…but i will just add that iron supplements do seem to have helped the dogged tiredness

    put your feet up

    Susan,
I love this post! What a wonderful seashore tablescape. Where did you find your dishes? My BFF live in FL and loves to decorate using shells and coastal accents. These pieces would make nice gifts.
    Feel better!

  39. I love EVERYTHING! I know I will never be disappointed when I come to your blog. The shaped plates are wonderful, the glasses are so pretty and the candlesticks match perfectly. I know there are things I’m missing, there are just so many pretty things to look at. FANTASTIC job on the table.

  43. Barb @ GritsandGlamour says

Susan – I remember when you posted this on RMS. I did not even know about blogging at that time. Even then, I was blown away at how beautiful this setting was. It might be one of my faves. I love dishes that have a raised design on them for some reason. Thanks for the re-post. So sorry you’re under the weather and your cold is lingering. Hope better health is just around the corner for you. Hugs, Barb

  44. Terrie's Lil' Piece of Serenity says

Susan, I am sorry to hear that you having been feeling well. It seems to be getting around. I hope you feel better soon.

I am glad you did this repost. This has always been one of my favorites. I did see that Khols are getting some of these dishes back in. Or they did put out their left over inventory. Either way I love it. I love how you accessorized it, too!!
    Hugs, Terrie

  45. Susan, I hope you have an appt. with your doctor, as DH and I ended up with bronchitis and needed antibiotics to get better. This nasty bug that has been going around (we got it right before Thanksgiving)lasts for a long time, and you can relapse easily. Thanks for a replay on that beachy tablesetting. You come through even when you’re sick! Please get better soon, as we all love having you around in blogland! Jan

  46. I’m so sorry you’ve been under the weather, Susan. I hope you feel back to 100% very soon. 🙂

As for this breathtaking tablescape…it is so beautiful that it NEEDS to be reposted, in case anyone missed seeing it from the previous post. I am amazed at how talented you are with putting things together to create such beauty…you could publish a tablscaping book! I bet it would be a hit with all of us home decor fanatics. 🙂 I’m still procrastinating about joining in the Tuesday fun, but next week, I *hope* I’ll get brave!

  47. Such a fun tablesetting! Definitely deserves another go-round!
