Welcome to the 517th Metamorphosis Monday!
Good Morning! Hope you’re having a great Christmas Eve! I’m spending time with family this week and I don’t have my usual “Before and After” to share, so I thought I’d share something my son, Chip, was working on throughout the day, yesterday.
In the wee hours of the morning, he got a Boston Butt/Pork Butt going in his Big Green Egg smoker-grill. We spent much of the day out shopping and playing while the grill did its work.
After smoking all day long, here’s how it looked yesterday evening after it was removed and had time to rest for about an hour. I know it looks reddish in this photo, but it was completely cooked all the way through. Very tender…falling off the bone!
Any Big Green Egg fans out there? If so, what’s your favorite dish/food to smoke or grill on your Big Green Egg? Got a great recipe that you absolutely love?
I think my son’s favorite besides Pork Barbecue is Beef Brisket and Chicken Wings. I’ve had both and it definitely beats anything I’ve had in restaurants. Nothing like good home cooking! Would love to hear your favorites for cooking out or smoking!
Looking forward to all the fabulous Before and Afters linked for this week’s Metamorphosis Monday!

Metamorphosis Monday
Metamorphosis Monday is a party that’s all about Before and Afters. If you are participating in Met Monday, please link up using the “permalink” to your MM post and not your general blog address. To get your permalink, click on your post name, then just copy and paste the address that shows up in the address bar at the top of your blog, into the “url” box for InLinkz when prompted.
In order to link up, you’ll need to include a link in your MM post back to the party so the other participants will have an opportunity to receive visits from your wonderful blog readers.
Feel free to link up Before and After posts that are home, gardening, decorating, crafting, painting, sewing, cooking, fashion, travel or DIY related.
Be sure to include a link back to the party in your post, so your readers will be able to find and visit the other bloggers who are participating.
Do not link up to the party if you’re only doing so to promote or sell a product.
To those linking up, if you notice a shop or online store linking up to sell products (yes, unfortunately, that happens) please let me know so I can remove their link and block them from participating in future parties. No one wants to visit a link expecting a Before and After, only to find a spam link to an online business/store.
That must be a summer picture of his grill! LOL. My son used to have one, but he sold it and got a Rec Tex pellet grill/smoker that he likes better. Both make wonderful ribs. Have a Merry Christmas with your family. Supposed to be sunny and 50 in Acworth today.
The first photo is from summer, but the photo of the pork butt is from last night. Merry Christmas, Pam!
My husband loves his green egg. Our favorite thing to cook is ribs. I never get them from a restaurant any more. His are the best I’ve ever eaten. Merry Christmas to you and your family!!
Oh, ribs sound great! Would love to hear your hubby’s recipe. I know what you mean, my son has pretty much ruined me for eating steaks out now. Nothing compares, does it?
Happy New Year, Cathy!
The Boston Butt/Pork Butt looks totally yummy. Please post the recipe for this.
We got one this summer…brisket wonderful but really liked salmon on the grill.
That looks so scrumtious and what a great start to the holiday visit!! But also, how cruel for those of us unable to grill, lol.
I do an applewood smoked Ham with apple wood chips and fresh apple juice. It is so yummy. Merry Christmas and enjoy your family.
That meat looks spectacular! I don’t have a Big Green Egg but I got a HUGE brisket through a barbecue guy here to cook in a crockpot for tomorrow. This thing was almost 14 lbs. So with my dull knives I had to hack it down enough to fit the pot. So it cooked for 10 hours on low and by the time I got the fat off it, there isn’t that much left. Oh, well. Hope it tastes good. Merry Christmas!
Glad you and the sleigh arrived safely! It is nice to have something that works well and saves time. That pork looks delicious! BBQ’s and crockpots are great inventions!
Thanks so much for hosting each week!!
Merry Christmas!!
Hugs,
Debbie
Looks good. I have only had a BGE for a couple of weeks and I haven’t found anything yet that’s not delicious. Brownies, chicken, pizzas, and for today, a prime brisket.
We are grilling fools here. I have been thinking about getting a smoker. Our son bought hubby an infrared flame less fryer for Christmas and we’ve already tried it out. I did some bone in skin on chicken breast and they were wonderful. I’m looking forward to “fried” turkey with out all the oil. Your pork roast looks amazing. So good! Merry Christmas Susan!
My son in law, Sean worked his way through college (UNA) as a grill cook @ Texas Roadhouse Restaurant. So he is a superior grill man. Two years ago, our daughter Lindsay surprised him with a Green Egg!!
Now we are so spoiled at every meal, Sean makes. Our daughter enjoys making the sides & desserts
That roast looks delectable! (Since you posted about it, whenever you mention Chip’s BGE, I get a mental image of him wearing that head-light, lol. )
We don’t have one, but seeing the comments here, it sounds tempting. Who ever heard of brownies made on a grill?!! (from Jason’s post.)
If he cooks the turkey on it, let us know. 😀 Merry Christmas. I hope the grandbabies have a ball.
Glad your arrived safely! His brisket looks delish! Love pork! Funny, I’m doing ribs tomorrow, in the oven, with a special rub, wrapped in tin foil, on the broiler pan with water in the shallow pan underneath to create steam, cooked slow and on low heat. Then near the end I put on a bit of sauce, but not so they are sloppy, just a bit. Happy for him that he enjoys his big egg! Fun for you that you get to enjoy all of his good cooking! What a treat! Merry Christmas to you and your family!
I would love to hear more about those tables holding your smoker!
The tables are also from The Big Green Egg, also. It’s a newer design that they came out with fairly recently. They can be hooked together or you can leave them un-hooked so that you can move the side table to either side of the egg. My son really loves the second table since it gives him a place to set a platter, aluminum foil, his phone/bluetooth speaker, grilling utensils, etc… They are supposed to weather well, better than the wood tables BGE also makes for the Eggs. Both tables came from the same place where the Big Green Egg was purchased. So check with any BGE retailer and they should either stock them or be able to order them.
Gees, I DO luv good barbeque…that looks fantastic!! We smoked a fresh turkey and “finished it off on the grill.” Can’t beat that “flavor” in my book!! EnJOY your time away!! franki
My husband has a green egg. We love his Boston butts, brisket, and standing rib roast. He recently smoked a turkey breast (bone in) and it was the best turkey I’ve ever tasted! He’s definitely figured it out.
