Fall Dining with Feathered Friends

Welcome to the 115th Tablescape Thursday!

I started this tablescape on the porch a week or so ago when the weather was still in the 70’s. By the time I took pics today, it was rainy and somewhat chilly out. I had so much fun playing though, I forgot all about the dreary weather.

As you view this tablescape, imagine it with woven or ratan chargers in a warm brown. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any but that would have been just perfect. 🙂

Mikasa provided the beautiful china I’m using today. You’ll probably recognize the pieces I used for my centepiece from the summer view of my porch hutch.

I removed the lids from the coffee/teapot and cookie jar and placed fresh mums inside.

Hope you don’t mind…our feathered friends have decided to join us.

They were originally ornaments and I removed their tiny hooks.

They have little clips underneath so they could be secured to a branch. I used the clips to secure them to the napkins.

I loved their long feathery tails.

China is Mikasa, pattern is Daylight. First the bowl…

Salad plate…

And the dinner plate…

This pattern also comes with cups/saucers. I love the solid green saucers.

It’s almost as if the vine on the plates grew right across the table and onto the Ma Maison centerpiece.

Dinner, Salad and Bowl were provided by Mikasa, Pattern is, Daylight
Cookie Jar, Tea Pot and Creamer/Sugar are Tabletops Unlimited, Designed by Dario Farrucci, Pattern is Ma Maison (found at HomeGoods a few years back)
Stemware: Pier 1, 1-2 years ago
Faux Bamboo flatware: Big Lots (I think)
Napkins and Napkin Rings and Candle Holders: Kohls, 2-3 years ago
Bird Ornaments: Garden Ridge

  49. Dear Susan,
although I have no tablescape today, because my blog party "International Christmas Cookies" keeps me busy, I love to see your table. The bright orange and the soft greens shades on your table are perfect for this time. Love the little birds, they looks so naturally. The Mikasa pattern with the bamboo flatware is great. But that is no surprise, you have such enormous skills in decorating charming and tasteful tables. This is a ingenious idea to use the teapots as jardinieres. Love that.
    Greetings, Johanna

Although I have no tablescape today, because my first blog party "International Christmas Cookies" kept me busy, I enjoyed your tablescape very much. The bright orange and the soft green colors on your table are perfect for that time. The Mikasa pattern and the bamboo flatware are great together. But this is no surprise because you have a special talent for decorating charming and tasteful tables. I love the idea to use the tea pots as jardinieres. The whole table is so lovely. OMG this may be one of my top favorite tablescapes. I love the orange and green together, maybe that's why I love it so much. Its so warm and cheerful looking. You have to tell me where you store all of your dishes. I have always loved dishes. I collect them like other women collect shoes. But I just don't know where or how to organize them all.

  62. Another beautifully set table Susan! I love the birds! I'm going to have to look more closely at Christmas ornaments when I'm in the store next time! Thanks for the hint.

  63. Susan (Between Naps on the Porch) says

    Hi Judy,
Thanks so much for those sweet words! On my sidebar, you'll find a link to a dish closet I created…that's where a good many of my dishes are stored. The rest are in the kitchen cupboards, china hutch in the dining room and the hutch on the porch.
    Thanks again!
    Susan

  64. That is really pretty, a change of flowers and it could be used in Spring too! I love the cottages, so cute, and the dishes are lovely too! I just hope those birds don't you know what on MY napkin! 🙂
I didn't make it this week, still dragging!

  65. Just stunning..I love that it is light and airy..
    Thanks so much for hosting.
I just about forgot to post and link today…got lots on my mind.:)

  66. Hi Susan,
I took some time away from blogging to take care of my family. I couldn't wait to come back and visit you. You never disappoint. I so love the Mikasa on the green hutch. I have always loved the picture on the side bar. I read your post about your career. What a wonderful profession to be involved in and I am sure you made a big impact. I just can't believe that you worked all those hours and still had time to put together such wonderful posts and hosting blog parties. I have missed visiting you. Stop by my blog if you have a spare few seconds.
    Love,
    Carey

  67. This has to be one of my favorite tablescapes you've done!!! I just love this place:) I can't wait until my twins are old enough to leave pretties alone:)

    Faith on Fire

  68. Your table is lovely, as usual. I always get some great ideas when I visit your blog. The birds on the napkins are a great idea. I will be setting a table for a Fall luncheon on Saturday so I am visiting as many as I can to get ideas for using the things I have here at home.

  69. Your table is so adorable & your porch always looks spotless. How do you do that?
    Carol

  70. Everything is perfect! The colors, the flowers, the use of your summertime dishes from the hutch… Mikasa's patter is perfect with these!

I agree with Yvonne! You and Mikasa are a perfect match!
    *enjoy a lovely weekend*

  71. Hi Susan!

I wanted to tell you how much I ♥ your new photo you have in your profile. I think you've lost 10 years since you've *retired* LOL GREAT photo of you & your gorgeous long luscious hair.

This pretty table with the birds on the napkins is so perfect for your porch. Very outdoorsy & the ivy vines go beautifully with your darling teapots you pulled from the hutch.

I just can't seem to do a different table each week. *sigh* Too busy sewing right now. Halloween costumes & sis's quilt are done..now its on to Christmas dresses!!

    Stay well my friend,
    Hugs,
    Rett

  72. That's my FAVORITE Mikasa dish set! The one I would buy if I could afford. Beautiful table setting and I loved the colors green/orange together. The birdies are lovely!

  73. Christine:) says

These are breathtaking!!! Thank you for hosting:)

  74. I love the color scheme you used here. It has the feel of fall but a lightness about it. The mums look so pretty in those containers for your centerpiece.

  75. The Tablescaper says

As I look at this tablescape again, I like it even more. I'm so taken by the play of color, the contrast of the rust (a common fall color) and the fresh green (an uncommon fall color). It's a work of art!

    – The Tablescaper

  76. Susan, the canisters make perfect containers for those beautiful orange mums. This is a darling table. Those little birds have the sweetest faces. ~ Sarah
