My October Favorites, Including Some Possible Gift Ideas

Happy Almost Weekend! It is so beautiful here in Georgia right now. The weather is stunning and the temps are going to reach 83° today! I need to get outside in this glorious sunshine for a bit. I hope it’s beautiful where you are today! I have some awesome favorites to share from the month of October. Hope you will find these helpful!

One of my favorite shampoos and the one I’ve used the last few times I’ve washed my hair is this Biolage Hydra Source shampoo. After I returned back home to Georgia, I realized I had left it back in Ohio, so I immediately a bottle for here. Can’t be without it! When I first started letting my natural hair color grow out just over a year ago, I bought all these expensive shampoos designed for white/silver hair, and yet the shampoos that work the best for me are my old reliable! In fact, the more I switch between the “silver” shampoos and regular shampoos, the more I prefer the regular ones. The silver ones tend to make my hair too soft and take away a lot of the body. I can’t recommend this shampoo enough! You’ll find it available here: Biolage Shampoo.

Of course, I had to mention the lamp that I bought three times last month! I bought two for my kitchen counter since my undercabinet lighting doesn’t work in that room—hope to get that fixed one day. And I bought one for the Butler’s pantry.

Lamp lighting in a room like a kitchen or Butler’s pantry is often unexpected, thus it makes those rooms feel extra special at night. You’ll find this lamp available for purchase online here: Small Lamp with Gingham Shade.

Still crazy about this toaster oven/air fryer that I purchased last month. You may remember my main reason for purchasing it was because the 20 year old stove/oven currently in the Dollhouse kitchen takes 140 years to preheat. This baby preheats to 350° in about2-3 minutes Love that! It does so much more than just toast and air fry, has a lot of settings that I haven’t even tried yet. Very much enjoying it, it gets used at least 3-4 times a week. If you’re in need of a toaster oven that’s also an air fryer, you’ll find this one here: Toaster Oven/Air Fryer. One tip: It cooks very fast, so when using it, you may have to shave several minutes off the normal cooking time.

It has been so nice having bedside lamps again in my master bedroom! These lamps I purchased last month are beautiful and budget-friendly. I’m so impressed with how heavy and beautiful they are—such great quality! If I ever decide to move to the Dollhouse full time and bring my current lamps along with me, these are definitely keepers and will be find a new spot somewhere in the house. The quality is excellent, so much nicer than what I see in a lot of stores today. You’ll find them available here: Crystal Lamps.

Last month I purchased this set of mesh bags for holding delicates and small items when I do laundry. They are excellent quality, really like them! I may buy another set for the Georgia house, they are that nice! If you could use something for holding those smaller items or items that need a bit more care in the wash, you’ll find these available here: Mesh Laundry Bag.

Crazy about this storage baggy organizer I purchased in October. No more rooting through the various boxes in the pantry to figure out which box holds which size bag. Love it! You’ll find it available here: Storage Bag Organizer.

Love, love, love this adorable wool cushion I purchased for my desk chair. It prevents denim transfer onto my desk chair and is cozy warm without causing any static shocks when I get up. You’ll find this all-wool seat cover/cushion available here in 4 colors: Wool Sheep-Shaped Cushion.

I’m not sure if I’ve ever shared this, but a while back I purchased a microphone for my desk. I had a bulky one that I had purchased quite a while back and was so happy to find one that was much smaller/sleek. I liked it so much, I bought a second one to use in Georgia, too. I like that it can be muted via the press of a button, so it’s only “listening” when needed. I use it a lot for voicing searches online, saves a lot of typing!

Of course, it would work great for Zoom calls, too Since it plugs in via a USB connection, it should work well with laptops. It was definitely an upgrade over my old microphone. You’ll find it available here: Microphone for Computer.

A while back I purchased a set of these timers to use on lamps in the Dollhouse. They worked so well, I ended up purchasing a second set when I added more lamps in the kitchen and Butler’s pantry. I love it when a lamp comes on by itself in the evening…so nice to come at night to a beautifully lit, welcoming home. This particular timer is so much better than the two timers I’ve been using on lamps in the Georgia house. When I arrived back here, since the seasons had changed and we just had the big fall time change, I needed to adjust the timers here. Oh my gosh, it took forever since the older timers I’ve been using required pressing the hour and minute button a gazillion times to finally get to the correct time. The timer below is so much easier and faster to set—I just held down the hour and minute button once, and the numbers flew by. I just ordered another set for the Georgia house so I won’t have to go through that frustration in the spring. You’ll find this excellent timer here: Timer for Lamps.

Last month I ordered this game for the basement (aka game room) since my grandsons love playing down there whenever they visit. I actually ordered two games, but this is the one they always choose to play. They LOVE this game! Highly recommend it if you’re looking for a Christmas gift for the kiddos this year! You’ll find it available here: Toss Across Game.

A few months back I mentioned that I had these Pizza Scissors on my wish list. They finally made it off the wish list and into my kitchen. Love how they work—fast and efficient! I find them much easier to use than a regular pizza wheel and the pizza doesn’t try to slide all over the place as I cut it. You’ll find these available here: Pizza Scissors.

    Susan,
I ordered a set of the timers on your recommendation. When they arrived I was amazed, not only at the ease of setting them, but also that they don’t block the entire outlet, allowing another item to still be plugged in. I’ve since ordered two more pairs, to switch over all timers I have and be prepared for for the holidays. Thanks so much!!

    • I love that they don’t block the whole outlet, too! I’m so glad you like them, June! I’m donating all my others as soon as the ones I ordered for the Georgia house arrive.

  2. Christmas is coming. More gift ideas!

  3. Thanks for the ideas. I like the timers. We have the kind you dial and punch things down. That is my husband’s job, and we have them everywhere. When we replace, I’ll get these.

I'd love to hear from you! Please leave a comment!
