Welcome to the 862nd Metamorphosis Monday! This house keeps blowing my mind! I've owned this cute cottage home for just over a year now. I thought I had uncovered all its secrets, all its hidden history over its 87-year existence. NOPE! Before I share this recent discovery, I promised you a view of how the front of the house looks with all the new plantation shutters installed. This also ties in with my recent discovery and how it came about. So here's how the … [Continue Reading...]

Welcome to the 879th Tablescape Thursday! Update: The party is now active! Yay! Since I don't have a lot of my dinnerware here at the Dollhouse, I thought I'd combine two ideas together for today's post. On this last day of July, let's enjoy a Christmas in July Teascape, combined with a Before and After. Normally, this area of the office looks like this, but there's been a new addition. The pretty scalloped ottoman that I ordered arrived … [Continue Reading...]

Have you been noticing all the fall, Halloween, and holiday decor that's starting to appear in stores? I once asked about that when I was shopping in a Hobby Lobby, why they put holiday stuff out so early. They said that a lot of crafters start shopping during the summer months to be ready in time for the autumn and winter holidays. That made sense so now I don't get so annoyed when I see those goods in the stores starting in mid-summer. I always enjoy Christmas … [Continue Reading...]

Welcome to the 861st Metamorphosis Monday! Do you use doorstops in your home? I've never lived in a home that didn't have those throughout the house where needed—until now. Not sure why, but doorstops were nowhere to be found here in the Dollhouse. I only spotted one when I moved in, a baseboard doorstop that was missing its cap. Unfortunately, the lack of doorstops has led to some damage in a few places, like this area at the foot of the staircase. In this … [Continue Reading...]
Luxury Designer-Style Scallop Rattan Furniture, Without The Luxury Price

I had another post planned for today, but I made the most awesome discovery yesterday that I had to share! I have long admired the beautiful designer, scallop, rattan pieces that I've been seeing online and in decor magazines, but I've always been put off by the prices. Just a simple ottoman was often well over $1,000, and larger pieces were $2,000 and up! Thankfully, someone has found a way to make these beautiful scallop designs for much more affordable … [Continue Reading...]

Welcome to the 878th Tablescape Thursday! I have a wonderful table to share with you today! Elena recently wrote, saying, "I have been thinking about doing a table honoring my family's heritage for quite some time, and have changed how I was planning it several times. I started thinking about the theme as three of my Grandparents came here from Greece in the early 1900s. All three came through Ellis Island, and I have found all three on the Ellis Island website. … [Continue Reading...]

Thank you so much for all the suggestions in yesterday's post regarding what type/brand of windows I may have here in the Ohio house, aka, the Dollhouse. I will keep you posted on what I'm able to do with those three foggy windows in the future. In the meantime, yesterday was a busy day around here! My third order of plantation shutters was installed, this time in three upstairs bedrooms and two baths. You may recall that my first order of shutters included the 6 … [Continue Reading...]
Cute Pool/Beach Totes & Need Your Help In Identifying This Window Brand/Manufacturer

Welcome to the 860th Metamorphosis Monday! How was your weekend? I hope your week is off to a great start! I spent an hour or so yesterday removing all the window coverings in the upstairs part of the house since the plantation shutters I ordered for the upstairs are due to be installed tomorrow. I couldn't wait to remove these ancient old shades in the bedrooms and upstairs bath! They are old and dingy-looking, with knotted and broken pull strings that no longer … [Continue Reading...]

Several months back, I purchased a couple of adorable lamps for the kitchen since it doesn't have undercabinet lighting. Actually, it has a couple of fluorescent lights in each corner, but even after changing out the flashing/blinking tubes, they still do not work. One of my goals for this year is to add undercabinet lighting to this kitchen, but as a make-do for now, I added a couple of cute lamps. I've always liked having a lamp in the kitchen anyway. I like the … [Continue Reading...]

Welcome to the 877th Tablescape Thursday! Kathryn, the lovely owner of Sunnyland Bed and Breakfast, created a beautiful table for summer.
