I’m so looking forward to the Christmas movie-watching that I know will be taking place over the next few weeks. A couple of days ago, I was feeling Christmas-nostalgic and curled up in the movie room to watch Home Alone right by myself. There’s something to be said for watching your favorite Christmas movie (or any movie) alone—like the ability to pause it as many times as you wish to enjoy the little details of the house or a favorite scene.

After the movie ended, I started thinking about how Home Alone will forever be my favorite Christmas movie. I like a lot of Christmas movies, but Home Alone holds a special place in my heart. My son was right around Kevin’s age when the movie came out, so that made it extra fun. Then there’s the house! Oh my gosh, the house! It made the biggest impression on my heart. I loved the layout of the home, including the fun attic room, but it was the overall cozy feeling of “home” it exuded with its warm and inviting interior. I’m sure it greatly influenced the home we purchased just 7 months later.
If you or someone you know is a huge Home Alone fan, here are three gift ideas I’m sure they would love. The Home Alone Lego House is the ultimate gift for the Home Alone movie fan! I enjoyed putting it together so much, I’m tempted to buy a second one just so I can do it all again! lol

It’s brilliantly designed where the front of the home fully opens, making it possible to access each interior room. Even the attic is accessible. Each of the upper floors can be lifted up and off to see more of the rooms below. There are quite a few “Easter Eggs” hidden in the build, and those are so much fun to find. If you have a Home Alone fan on your holiday list, you’ll find this Lego set with 3,955 pieces available here: Home Alone Lego Set.

I’ve been stalking this next gift idea for a couple of years and finally went for it. Do you remember the battle plan Kevin devised for when the bad guys were to return the following night?

I just ordered a print/poster that’s a replica of the plan as it appears in the movie. There are quite a few Home Alone battle plans available online, but this was the one I chose since it’s true to how Kevin’s plan looks in the movie. It’s being shipped from France and is due to arrive between November 13th and December 2nd.

I purchased the 16 x 20 size with plans to frame it to hang in the movie room. Since the battle plan drawings go right to the edge of the poster, I looked for a frame that was super narrow. This is the one that I ordered, and it should arrive in the next day or two. Of course, I’ll be using it without the mat and maybe even without the glass. Not sure yet about the glass part. I momentarily thought about buying a blank canvas and using spray adhesive to mount the poster directly to the surface of the canvas, but I really don’t want to deal with all that stickiness. So hopefully this frame will work just as I hope. You’ll find the frame available here: 16 x 20 Narrow Frame.

My final gift idea for the Home Alone movie fan is a hoodie, shirt, or sweatshirt featuring Kevin’s battle plan. I went with a hoodie for myself since I’m a huge hoodie fan this time of year. I was late in life discovering hoodies, and now I live in them during the winter months. I love how snug and warm they are around my neck (so much better than sweatshirts!) and the large pocket in front where I often carry my cell phone when doing stuff around the house. Love me a hoodie! You’ll find the one I purchased in a bunch of different colors on sale here: Home Alone Hoodie. Sweatshirts are available here: Home Alone Sweatshirt, and long-sleeve shirts are available here: Long-Sleeve Shirt.

Bonus Christmas Idea: I ordered a set of these and they arrived yesterday. They are so pretty! Very much recommend them if you could use a nightlight in a bathroom or other area of your home this Christmas. I placed one in the half bath on the main level and one in the basement bathroom. Love them! You’ll find them available here: Christmas Tree Night Lights.

I love Home Alone too! What always got me was how everything and everyone was color coordinated red and green and cream. The house, the wardrobe, wallpaper and the props!
Love it! My favorite Christmas movies are Christmas Vacation with Chevy Chase and Holiday Inn with Bing Crosby (I think Holiday Inn better than White Christmas – both movies are Bing Crosby movies and have basically the same plot in the same farm house). Are you decorating both of your homes for Christmas with trees? I guess you’ll be in the Doll House on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day – it’s so extra special when the grandchildren are young.
I love that you can buy Kevin’s adorable Battle Plan! I didn’t know that. So funny and that will be a perfect addition to your movie room, Susan. The boys will love it, I’m sure. What a fun idea.
That Christmas tree nightlights are very pretty. Thanks for the fun post. Oh, and another wonderful Christmas movie, especially if you haven’t seen it, is The Preacher’s Wife with Whitney Houston and Denzel Washington. I just love that movie. Their house is so cozy, as is the church. It’s just a real ‘feel good’ movie. It’s a take off on The Bishop’s Wife from years ago with David Niven, Loretta Young and Cary Grant. Talk about a house! The Bishop’s house was also magnificent! Happy movie watching.
It must be even more fun with your grandsons close by. How about matting your picture vs a thin frame?
Cute! I just ordered the night lights. Thanks!
I love that movie! The Battle Plan poster will be a great addition to your movie room. Michael’s (I believe you have them in the Midwest) will adhere that poster to a canvas very inexpensively. You can get it adhered to the thin hard cardboard and still put in your frame.
I like that idea! I would like for it to be in a frame but just not sticking out from the wall like a canvas does.
Susan, I too watch “Home Alone”….alone…& find it perfect at this season.
One of my friends who has passed was in the movie & it makes me quite
nostalgic, in addition to having lived a substantial portion of life in Chicago. So many of the stars from the movie have passed when I edge on being a bit too
melancholy I watch “Christmas Vacation” & the pure silliness brings healthy
laughter. Thank you for sharing a lovely post.
This post is making me all Christmasy. How extra sweet to be there this year with the movie room and setup in the dining room. It will be interesting to see how many trees you will have for the Dollhouse. Off to check out those tree night lights…
