Welcome to the 746th Tablescape Thursday! I’m starting to think ahead to Valentine’s Day. Valentine’s Day dinners are usually romantic affairs for two, but I couldn’t resist setting a full table.
Yesterday was busy around here with appointments. The storage room in the basement was measured for its door and other repairs were being made, so it was kind of late before I had an opportunity to set a table for this week’s Tablescape Thursday.
Valentine’s Day calls for cozy, romantic lighting. I think this lamp was a find in A Classy Flea. I’ve had it so long now, it’s hard to remember.
You may remember it lit another cozy table for two here on the deck.
(See more of this previous table here: Romantic Table.)
I can’t remember what this style lamp is called–it may be a hurricane lamp. Does that sound right? I placed a small 25-watt bulb inside for this setting so it kept the lighting soft and low.
I love using this antique Copeland Spode Tower in Valentine’s Day table settings. I think this color is referred to as “pink” but I always think of it as being more red.
I paired it with one of my favorite chargers. These chargers with their pierced, open-work design always make me think of eyelet or lace.
The stemware is a combination of new and vintage. The red goblets are Waterford Ruby Hock, purchased around 15 years ago, I think. The beautiful etched tea/water glasses were a find in a local antique shop–so many years ago, I don’t remember which shop now.
The velvet-trimmed, linen napkins paired with pretty eyelet napkins were both from Pier 1, back in the day. For my napkin ring, I used a mercury glass heart, tied with a bit of red jute yarn. I found the little hearts in Marshalls one year. This is the time of year when they begin getting these types of decorations in, so a good time to look for those.

Here’s how this table looked this morning on this very cloudy day.

Just beautiful! Love the tablecloth. Do you remember where you found it?
Thanks for sharing such beauty!
Thanks, Jan! It’s been so long, hard to remember. I want to say I found it in A Classy Flea because I found quite a few tablecloths there back in the day before they closed. The other places I usually look/find them is TJ Max, HomeGoods, and Marshalls. I just Googled to see if I could find something like it and this one looks similar: https://amzn.to/3iyM5mV
What a sweet table, Susan! Of course, any table you set using those fabulous cream reticulated chargers nearly cause me to swoon. I especially love them paired with your Copeland Spode Tower dishware. Sending you warm regards on this chilly January day.
Thanks so much, Debbie! I love them with that pattern, too–almost like they were made to go together since the cream color in each matches so well. Stay warm!

I like the dark muted pink in the dishware; I’m so over Christmas red.
The silver hearts for napkin rings are the perfect touch. How do you pull together something so pretty after such a full day?!
Thanks, Mia! ♥ When the drywall was installed last week, the installer broke my security system so that was one of the things I was dealing with yesterday. Fortunately, it turned out to just be a loose wire. It was a bit of a struggle yesterday to make my brain change gears but I really wanted to set a table this week. I got to try out what it’s like having some of my table things stored away in the storage area of the basement…and that worked out well. It’s not so creepy going down there at night now that it feels more like a part of the house and not just the basement. 🙂
Everything about this table setting is so pretty, Susan! It feels so cozy and warm for a cold winter’s evening. If we could imagine the lamp was an oil lamp, this table could have happened anytime in the last few hundred years! To me that seems a comforting connection with the generations before ours!
I love that, Dianne…love how that sounds!

I just love those chargers!
Thanks, Beth! Horchow needs to bring them back again.
I love your pink | red transfer ware. Perfect for this table! And the velvet trimmed napkins totally caught my eye. Thanks for hosting us. XO- MaryJo
Thanks so much, MaryJo!

This table setting is gorgeous Susan! I love the dishware, not really red, but not totally pink either-a good cross between the two colors and just perfect for Valentine’s Day. The white charger does indeed remind one of eyelet material, so perfect for this setting. I love that you set the table for 4, it could be for a couple’s dinner or for your closest Galentines who don’t have a guy in their lives. Love that idea the most. The glasses are so gorgeous as is the hurricane lamp-that is definitely what they are called. A kerosene lamp would give nice mood lightening as well. Love this idea as I would have never though to use a gorgeous lamp like you did and that one is gorgeous for sure. Between the dishes, the tablecloth, napkins and lamp, this is one cozy and stunning table setting for 4 and I love it! Hugs, Brenda
Just lovely. Very cozy and romantic. Put some Luther Vandross on, or better yet Barry White and let the night begin!
Valentine’s will be here in a blink! Very pretty table Susan. I think you are coming up to your birthday, right? Happy, Happy birthday and may it be a wonderful year of good health, love and joy! Big HUGS to you! ♥️

Glad you received my birthday wishes! Hope you had a nice once in spite of the yucky weather. I ‘m sorry for the multiple entries, lol. We were having very high winds, causing internet issues.
Susan, my wishes for a lovely birthday and all good things to follow! The table setting is beautiful; perfect for Valentine’s Day. Of course, you know I’m coming for those chargers lol!
Thanks so much, Bobbi! You’re so sweet to remember! Ha! I was just thinking today that Horchow really needs to bring those back again. I bet they sold out quickly when they did have them back in the day. I never really understand why stores don’t bring stuff back when it sells out.
So pretty. Wishing you happiness and blessings throughout your birthday year. God Bless.
