Alice In Wonderland Tea Party

Welcome to the 102nd Tablescape Thursday!

A few months ago I stumbled upon a miniature Alice in Wonderland tea set…it was love at first site.

Alice in Wonderland Tea Set

We celebrated with an Un-Birthday Party out on the porch.

Alice in Wonderland Table Setting Tablescape with Dept_edited-1

This evening I’ve set up a tea party just for you in the guest room. Actually, there’s room for two so, if you don’t mind, I think I’ll join you.

Alice in Wonderland Tea Party

Brought up a couple of the wicker chairs from the porch…

The “March Hare” asked if he could join us, too. Of course, I said, Yes! He even brought a basket of yummies to share…hope you like carrots with your tea.

Have a lady bug cookie…they really are yummy. I test-tasted one just to make sure.

Susan, I was always afraid of Alice when I was little–I think I am too much of a control freak and she was definitely NOT in control of what was happening. But I could like these dishes! The detail is amazing, with the handles and the lids and the facial features! The stacked teacups are a very funny touch! I think your guests are very lucky to have a beautiful room like this to visit! Linda

  45. I know what you mean about not being able to get around to all the posts in a timely fashion. They are so beautiul one wants to linger.
Someday I hope to be able to pull a table together. Can it be done with plasticware? For sure I have the accessories.
    Love your whimsical china.
    Keep life playful!

  46. This china delights me every time! I love the theme, the illustrations but I think it is the words (especially the swirling ones) that get me every time. A lovely setting and those cookies sure look good!

  47. Loved this bit of whimsy, Susan!

  48. Simply adorable! Thanks for hosting!

  49. So very whimsical and cute. I am floored by the amount of work and detail you do for your beautiful shoots.. As I've asked before, when is the book coming out? Tablescape Thursdays… I think you MUST do one… Who wouldn't buy it?

  50. I want your sock monkeys!

  51. Susan:

ASOLUTELY darling! What a sweet idea! Will you share the source of your bed skirt, pillows and coverlet? Pinecone Hill maybe? Just love it.

  52. Susan (Between Naps on the Porch) says

    Hi Lisa,
Sure…the blue and white comforter, pillows and bedskirt are Ralph Lauren and I think it was called, "Porcelain." I bought it the first year they made it which was many, many years ago…maybe 15 now. They produced it for quite a while, but it didn't look as nice as the first year they made it…looked cheaper to me.
Mine came from Macys, way back then. I can't remember now where I bought the white coverlet…maybe TJ Max. They are pretty easy to find in most dept. stores, but I find TJ Max and HomeGoods to be a lot better, pricing wise. The yellow pillows…and curtains and tabletopper are all custom made with a Sanderson fabric that had the word "Ribbon" in the name…forgotten the exact name of that fabric. It's a very old fabric pattern, so impossible to find now, I would think. I just googled Ralph Lauren Porcelain and here's the latest version that is selling in Macy's: http://www.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=364569&cm_mmc=Google_Feed-_-6-_-89-_-%7Bkeyword%7D&kw=%7Bkeyword%7D

    Hope that helps!
    Susan

  53. The Queen of Hearts is on her way and so looking forward to this wonderful tea party in Wonderland. Hope I'm not late!

  54. Requi@Tablescaping Escapades says

Oh yes, I'd love another cup of tea 'cause I could just sit a spell and enjoy those darling dishes and that beautiful guest room, of course. I would sit for hours reading my big Alice and Wonderland book and daydreaming when I was a little girl. In the tea set, it's fun reading all the sayings on each dish. I found myself tilting my head to read what it says in the teacup, LOL.

Your table linens are gorgeous, such beautiful colors. Those cookies look delectable, yum.

    All the Best,

    Requi

  55. Susan Ramey Cleveland says

  57. Nancy's Notes says

    Nancy

  58. Melissa Miller says

    Susan it is simply charming!

  59. Susan (Between Naps on the Porch) says

    Hi Amy,
The top part came from TJ Max (I think). HomeGoods had it, also. And the bottom half came from Marshalls. They are Dept. 56. I've seen them on eBay in the past, too.

  60. Fun, fun, fun! I enjoy Alice in Wonderland and the dishes are too lovely. Where in the world do you store everything? 🙂

  61. I love this tea set. The cheshire cat creamer is adorable. I think I will look for something similar to have tea with my new grand-daughter.:)

  62. This is adorable! Makes me want to have a tea party!

  63. Nf1andprek-whisper says

  66. I have been collecting this china for a while, too. My granddaughter is planning on using it for a tablescape on TablescapeX3 very soon. It will be fun to see what she does with it. Love all of your photos!

  67. Wonderful room, my favorite blue/white! Been looking for a white matlassee (misspelled) like yours with the diamond pattern. Could you please tell me where you got yours and the name brand. Love all your posts!!! Thanks, Liz Hamrick

    • Thanks, Liz! I believe I found that one at Macy’s. It’s been many years ago though, so kind of hard to remember. I just looked and I don’t see a tag on it anywhere. I have seen similar ones at Dillards and occasionally in HomeGoods/TJ Max, but that was several years ago when I was looking for one of my other bedroom. I hope you can find one. If I see one anywhere online or while out shopping, I’ll let you know. XO

I'd love to hear from you! Please leave a comment!
