Beautiful Table Setting Filled With Inherited And Vintage Collectibles

Welcome to the 866th Tablescape Thursday! A few weeks ago, Elena created a beautiful table setting for her family, using a lovely mix of newer pieces combined with treasured antique and vintage family pieces.

Bamboo Flatware for an Asian Style Table Setting

Elena described her table as having a bit of an Asian theme since so many of these special pieces that have been handed down through her family are from Japan.

Beautiful Table Setting with Laurel Stemware trimmed in Gold

Elena said, “The dishes are from my Grandmother, they are Andrea Sadek, and since they are marked Made in Japan, I believe they are pre-1945. Rather old, even Replacements Limited did not know the pattern. I usually use a different or coordinating salad plate, but thought these looked interesting together. The navy tablecloth and bamboo cutlery were from Amazon, and the green napkins are from Homegoods.” (Tablecloth is available in 21 colors here: Tablecloth. Faux Bamboo flatware is available in different styles/colors here: Bamboo Flatware. Real Bamboo Flatware is available here for the best price I’ve ever seen it: Real Bamboo Flatware.

Do you recognize the chargers? I have a set of those purchased from Horchow back in 2008. Elena recognized them when she found them a few years back online at a site that sells preloved items.

Elena shared that the beautiful gold-rimmed stemware is Laurel by Tiffin. Elena said, “The brass piece in the center of the table was brought back from Japan by friends of my parents back in the 1960s.” I know they would be so excited to see it being used in a tablescape today!

Elena found the pretty, green ceramic piece in the garden center at Lowe’s. Such a pretty color!

Elena said, “The white pagoda-shaped pieces are candle holders and are marked, Made in Italy. I think they are from the 1960s as well.” I love how Elena created this table setting using beautiful pieces that have been both collected and inherited. Put those collectibles of yours to work as wonderful centerpieces for your dinner parties and gatherings!

Elena said, “The plate on the stand is also marked Made in Japan, but I do not know the age of that one. I absolutely adore the Japanese figurines, none of which are marked. Every single one is chipped, but much to my husband’s chagrin, I refuse to let them go—cherished memories from childhood, I guess!” Elena, I completely understand. The fact that they are chipped makes them even more special because it means they were a part of your everyday life and were much loved.

A view from overhead…love how the creamy-white pagados look, anchoring each end of the centerpiece.

Thanks so much to Elena for sharing this beautiful table setting, filled with special pieces handed down through her family.

To get your permalink, click on your post name, then copy and paste the address showing in the address bar, into the “url” box when you link up. You’ll need to include a link in your post back to the party to link up and participate. That’s so visitors to your blog will be able to find the party and the other Tablescape Thursday participants. Requiring a link back also prevents businesses and scammers from linking up to sell their products. Please, don’t add your post name/blog name ALL IN CAPS…it tends to create big spaces between the rows of links. Please do not link up table settings that were just recently shared in the last few weeks for Tablescape Thursday.

  1. I’m always amazed when Elena or another BNOTP reader mentions things they inherited from their mother or grandmother. It’s so wonderful that they have these cherished pieces. Not only are they lovely to use in their own decor and tablescapes, but they are constant reminders of loved ones and family memories. Elena, you must be like Susan, with cabinets and cabinets stuffed full of all sorts of pretty pieces. And I spotted that green ceramic ginger jar right away and was so surprised when you said you got it at Lowe’s. It blends so beautifully with all the other, older pieces from Japan, lol. I also noticed Susan’s Horchow charger plates. I love those and am glad to know someone else found them, even if I haven’t. I love that pierced look. Thank you, Elena for sharing another of your many inspiring tablescapes.

    • Thank You so much Pam! I really love the memories all these pieces invoke, makes the table and the dinner so much more special! I hope one day my children will feel the same way!!!

Susan, have you watched any of the home tours on the HOMEWORTHY youtube channel?
I thought that you and your readers might be interested. This is Dana Perino’s tour (she was White House press secretary during George Bush’s administration, is on Fox News, and has authored several books). She has a lovely beach home. https://youtu.be/45dVoRQdZPw?si=JDzFMCsfW_kKH6qI

  5. It is always special when the table settings have a story to tell as well as hold wonderful food! The plates especially bring Spring to mind…..so sweet.

  6. Thank You so much Rosie!!! Believe it or not, I did not like the dinnerware when I first got it and put it away for years! Now I love it, I guess taste and what is in vogue changes! Glad you enjoyed it!

I'd love to hear from you! Please leave a comment!
