Welcome to the 837th Tablescape Thursday! Today is delivery day. As I type this, the table and chairs I have purchased for the Dollhouse dining room are somewhere out there rolling around on a delivery truck. I’m the 4th stop of the day, so it should be arriving sometime today between 11-3:00 pm.
I paid extra for Rooms To Go’s premium delivery plan which includes unpacking and setting up the table/chairs in the room of your choice. I won’t be asking them to put it together, but I do want help unboxing it so I can make sure the table is undamaged before I rent a U-haul truck to take it to Ohio. It would be awful to take it all the way to Ohio, open it, and find it’s damaged. I’d have to rent another truck and bring it all the way back if that happened. Ugh.
Hopefully, once we open it today, it will look great and we can seal it back up. I’m not as worried about the chairs because if I get to the Dollhouse and find when I unbox them that one of those is damaged, I can fit a chair into my SUV to bring it back down to Georgia where it could be returned. But I can’t fit a huge tabletop into my SUV. So this is the plan for now. I’ve never done anything like this, so I’ll let you know how it goes!
By the way, the shutters were installed in the office and kitchen a few days ago and they look great! I’ll be sharing an update soon on those. Since I flew home to Georgia for the dining set delivery, I’m working on my tiny, travel laptop and it’s torture. Ha! So I may wait until I’m back at the Dollhouse to share the shutters since going through photos and creating a post on this tiny screen takes forever.
Tablescape Thursday: Can you imagine how beautiful it would be to live across the street from a sunflower field?! Norma, who lives in the beautiful countryside in the south of France, had the most amazing view this summer. As summer was drawing to a close, the field across from her home burst into glorious sunshine! Norma took this photo from one of the upstairs windows of her home.
Oh my gosh, I would just stare at this view for hours every single day! Norma shared that the crops are planted on a four-year rotation: wheat, maize, rape seed, and then sunflowers. So, we will have to wait another four years for the next lot!” Wow, that really makes me appreciate these beautiful sunflowers that much more!
On August 15th, Norma wrote, “The sunflowers seem to be at their peak now, so here are a few photos of the last of the sunflowers.”
I was reading some info online about how sunflowers grow. The info I found said that when sunflowers are young plants, their faces follow the sun. So as the sun shifts throughout the day, they turn to face it, and you may even notice them swaying back and forth as they turn to face the sun. As they get bigger/older, their stems begin to stiffen up so they can support all the seeds that are coming. At that time, they no longer follow the sun as it moves. I guess at that point, they have all the energy they need to produce seeds. Nature is so amazing!
Sooo beautiful!
Once the sunflower field has been harvested, there are always a few straggler sunflowers remaining that were missed. Norma said, “I found five small sunflowers that were the last that had survived and picked them for the table. I called this tablescape, The Last Of The Sunflowers.”
About the colorful tablecloth Norma chose for this late summer table setting, Norma said, “The hand-dyed Indian tablecloth was a gift, and the square yellow plates and the white dinner plates came from the usual charity shop.”
Such pretty salad plates! Norma said, “The little flowery ones are English Queen Anne. The silver plate fish knives and forks are Victorian.”
I’m so glad Norma found these last forgotten sunflowers. They are just stunning as the centerpiece for this wonderful end-of-summer table!
Sooo pretty! Makes me wish summer and sunflowers would last forever!
Norma said, “It was sadly the last summer theme, but never mind there are always Halloween and Christmas ones to come.” Yes! So looking forward to the coming months!
Thanks so much to Norma for sharing this wonderful table setting! This will be a table I’ll visit again in January and February when the days are a bit dreary. It will be a wonderful reminder that spring and summer will come once again. Looking forward to the beautiful table settings linked for this week’s Tablescape Thursday!
If you are participating in Tablescape Thursday, please be sure to add your permalink below, and not your general blog address. To get your permalink, click on your post name, then copy and paste the address showing in the address bar, into the “url” box when you link up. You’ll need to include a link in your post back to the party to link up and participate. That’s so visitors to your blog will be able to find the party and the other Tablescape Thursday participants. Requiring a link back also prevents businesses and scammers from linking up to sell their products. Please, don’t add your post name/blog name ALL IN CAPS…it tends to create big spaces between the rows of links. Please do not link up table settings that were just recently shared in the last few weeks for Tablescape Thursday.

I love the tablecloth and the flatware.
Wow. Are they harvested for the seeds ? Lovely tablescape. I like the antique silverware.
Hoping for the best on the delivery. Have a safe trip Susan.
I have to check outside for hurricane damage. Last night was something I have never witnessed in 50 years.
Are you in Florida, Myrna? I hope you don’t find any damage!
Oh, and yes, I think they are harvested for the seeds.
Love sunflowers. I couldn’t get any to grow last year, but this year I had several. Norma’s look so pretty with the table cloth and the plates are perfect. Good luck with the table! I hope the packaging lives up to expectations!
Yes, God is so amazing!! Those flowers are beautiful. I wish they were across the street from me .
Such a lovely table! Thanks Norma – and Susan for sharing! Good luck with the table unboxing. I’m crossing my fingers for you!
The sunflowers are beautiful! My dil was #11 on the delivery list from RTG.
12-4 and they came at 3:20!!!! lol
I love sunflowers and keep fresh ones in my house, either on the dining table or on the fireplace hearth, throughout the year. I get my sunflowers from Sam’s and normally, they look amazing for up to 3 weeks. So I treat myself frequently. Ben planted sunflowers along the back fence last year and they were beautiful. This year he planted zinnias so I keep little vases of zinnias on my kitchen windowsill. I love it. Thanks for sharing the beautiful sunflower pictures.
