Christmas in Heaven

Welcome to the 482nd Tablescape Thursday!

Elena always creates the most magical table settings. Earlier this year she experienced a tremendous loss when her sister, Anna, passed away at the age of 62. This Christmas will be the first Christmas since Anna’s passing.

Elena shared some photos with me of the beautiful table she created for Christmas this year. Elena said, “My idea of a different kind of main Christmas  table came to me when I was browsing through Pier One about a month ago. They had so many beautiful gold, rose gold, silver, clear crystal and white things. The store absolutely sparkled!”

“What really first caught my eye were  Manzanita branches painted white and gold leaf, white feather angel wings, and gold resin glitter angel wings.  I thought how beautiful the branches would look mixed in with crystal stems and draped with angel wing ornaments.  I put the arrangement together in a Waterford vase for my sideboard. ”

“For me, the arrangement was hauntingly beautiful, and I could feel my sister’s presence and spirit as I looked at it.

“This will be Anna’s first Christmas in heaven! So I decided to  decorate my main dining room table and fireplace mantle with the same theme and colors.”

  1. So stunning! I love gold for Christmas. So sorry to hear about her loss. That is so young.

  2. Such a love-filled tribute, the table is beautiful! I was particularly caught by the way Elena layered the two runners. Great choice! Thanks for hosting us and for inviting us for a peek at this lovely table. Merry Christmas, and happy traveling in 2018! Cherry Kay

  3. What a gorgeous color palette for the holidays!

  4. Snowflake281 says

This tablescape so touched my heart as I can relate to Elana’s situation after losing one of my brothers, quite suddenly, on Christmas Eve 2 years ago. I believe it is important to keep the good memories of a loved one fresh in your mind, especially during the holidays. This tablescape will be a beautiful way to do that.

  5. What a beautiful tribute to a beloved sister! tfs

  6. I can totally relate to the heavenly table setting. I lost a dear first cousin the Friday after Thanksgiving (to ALS) , we were more like sisters and I miss her so much. I have a single candle burning in a small window to honor her life. Let us all remember those that have suffered loss this Christmas. It’s tough!
Susan, have a fun trip. Thank you for all you do to inspire us!!

  7. This post made me cry. How wonderful to create a table that was inspired by her sister in heaven. I am sure that her sister is looking down and loving it.

  8. Susan, thank you so much for sharing this! It is just breathtakingly beautiful, and extremely meaningful to me. A beloved person who has meant so much to so many, including Gene and me went home to heaven on Dec. 14th! And he is celebrating his first Christmas in heaven! I don’t want to turn your blog into anything controversial, but I just thought I would mention his name, as some of your readers may have loved him, too. It was R.C. Sproul, Ligonier Ministries in Florida. But also, my Mom went to heaven in March and two of my aunts in August and September. All 3 were in their upper 90’s and lived long wonderful lives. We are rejoicing in that and not sad. So this table setting is so impressive to me and I will come back and view it again. Thanks so much, and Merry Christmas to all!!
    Love, Jane xoxo

  9. What a most gorgeous table and tribute to her sister….you truly can hear the angels sing.

  10. Sweet and lovely. God bless you and yours this holiday!

  11. So beautiful! And a lovely way to remember her sister.

  12. This brought tears to my eyes, not from its beauty but for the love she had for her sister. May God give you peace this Christmas season.

    • Thank you for your very kind words. I was very close to my sister Anna. I miss her so much, but I know she is now in a beautiful place, safe beyond pain.

  13. Lovely table setting! It would be great for a New Year’s party!
So I just have to share. My son is totally into setting up our Christmas Village and has been for several years. We add a piece or two every year and he picks out one, and I pick out one. So, since I have several of the new ones on my dining room table, I tried to order some cute “Christmas Village” salad plates from Pier 1 today and they are ALL sold out online. I mean, there might be some at a store somewhere, but none in my area. Boo! Maybe they will show up next year or on Ebay some time.

    Signed,
    Dish-appointed in Arkansas

  14. Thank you everyone for your very kind words. My sister was also my best friend. When I think of her, the tears still come easily, but I’m learning to smile through my tears. God bless you all.

  15. What an exquisite table and tribute to her sister! As I type, I have a friend who is almost to the pearly gates. It is so sad, she found out she had cancer less than a month ago!!! Her husband is devasted. Thanks for hosting again this week, Susan. I wish you and your family a VERY merry Christmas. Enjoy your grandson!

  16. What a beautiful tribute to her sister. She must have been very special.

  17. donna a zoltanski says

This is a beautifully decorated Christmas table. So pretty with angels honoring a loved one.

  18. It is divine!! Christmas is for memories…franki

  19. Elena, another beautiful table setting. The arrangement with the Manzita branches has such an ethereal look. Just lovely. Anna loves it all, I’m sure.

  20. Took my breath away with the very first picture to the last. The angel wings are a shinning tribute to her sister and something that can be brought out every year forward. I just think everyone dining at this table will really feel the Christmas in Heaven emotion and share many happy memories together.

  21. Thanks for sharing this lovingly created table setting. I lost my sister in September and almost didn’t decorate at all for Christmas. Then I realized that wasn’t fair for the family I still have, and my sister loved to see my decorations when she was still here. It kept me busy and I was able to display all the Christmas decorations she had given me over the years.

    • So sorry about the recent loss of your sister. I’m glad you decided to decorate for Christmas and I’m sure you’re sister is smiling with approval.

  22. An exquisitely beautiful table, and a fitting tribute for a beloved sister. Thank you for sharing.

  23. An elegant table for a special celebration.

  24. Elena, this is an elegant table to honor the beautiful memories of your sister. Each of your guests will feel a special touch as they sit with you at this table. Thank you for sharing a sad loss into a divine angelic site.

  25. This is a beautiful table setting. Love how she created an angelic setting in memory of her sister. Those mother of pearl dishes are gorgeous. She really put together a beautiful table and I especially love the crystal vase with the manzanita branches. The angel wings and crystal pieces are so heavenly.
Thank you for sharing Elena’s table. Merry Christmas!

  26. Cyndi Raines says

Very lovely and special. It is hard to loose those we love, but we will carry them forever in our hearts. Safe travels to you Susan, Merry Christmas!

  27. This is a beautiful tribute to someone so loved. Susan, I hope you have a wonderful holiday trip. Dianne

  28. So beautiful…and a beautiful tribute to Anna. God bless us, everyone….Merry Christmas !

  29. Oh, Susan – Elena’s tablescape and decor is absolutely stunning! I am so sad for her to have lost her precious sister Anna…..but her tribute in such a beautiful way is gorgeous.

Peace to Elena, and to yourself this Christmas and beyond.

Thank you for hosting. So nice to be a part of it this time around. Hugs.

  30. Dear Susan,
I noticed the angel reflection of light on the wall. I’d say her angel was present there!
What a beautiful grace at Christmas!
    Ann

  31. Elena, this is the sweetest tablescape! Not only is it beautiful for Christmas, but it is perfect to honor the memory of your sister. She is with the angels, and would be so pleased that you chose to memorialize her with such a lovely table. God bless you as you go through all the holidays for the first time without her.
