Welcome to the 568th Metamorphosis Monday!
Have you ever read the children’s book, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie? It was a favorite of my son’s when he was growing up and the title quickly became a common catchphrase in our home. For example, when we added hardwood flooring to our home, we instantly wanted rugs for the floors. If you buy a new handbag, you may find yourself longing for a new wallet. And if you give a mouse a cookie, he’s going to want a glass of milk. lol
The little Christmas makeover I’ve been working on for my grandsons is definitely turning into a mouse/cookie moment! Without going into too much detail since you’ll be seeing the room for yourself real soon, I shopped online yesterday for a rug that would work between the boy’s beds…
…once their Christmas bedding is in place.
As I shopped for a rug, the sweetest memory from Thanksgiving popped into my head. My son, dil and grandsons (ages 3 and 5) had arrived at my home just moments before. After greetings and hugs were out of the way, my son and dil headed upstairs to deposit their suitcases in the room where they would be sleeping.
Once they had dropped off their luggage, they both headed to my room to see some of the changes I had made since they last visited. My dil took note of my Peloton in the dressing room where she would be riding each day during her stay. She loves her bike and never misses a day riding back home, so we talked about how easy it would be to adjust the seat.
As my dil and I stood talking, I suddenly became aware of movement near my feet. I was standing near the end of my bed.
There in the middle of the faux-fur, rose-colored rug I have alongside my bed was Charlie, my youngest grandson. He was happily making snow fur angels with his arms and legs, taking in all the delicious softness of that furry rug. After a few seconds, he hopped up and off he ran. There was still so much more exploring to be done!
I will never forget that moment as long as I live–a little peek into the sweet innocence of a child and how they look at the world. Imagine if we all had the heart of a child and dropped to the floor to make angels whenever we came across a furry rug during our day. Wouldn’t that be an awesome world to live in?
Yesterday, during my online shopping for a rug for their room, I narrowed it down to two rugs but couldn’t make up my mind. I ended up purchasing both and once they arrive, I will do my best to determine which one will make the best fur angels. That is the standard by which ALL fur rugs must now be judged. 😉
This is one of the rugs I purchased…you’ll find it available here in a bunch of colors: Fur Rug.
And this was the other rug I bought…it’s available here in a bunch of different colors: Fur Rug.
In a few days when we throw back the door and let the boys into their room for the big Christmas Makeover reveal, I will have my camera ready this time to capture any spontaneous fur-angel-making activity that may occur. ♥
Merry Christmas! I’m looking forward to many more Met Mondays with you in 2020!

What a wonderful story Susan – those boys are such a joy! I know they’re going to love their furry rug, whichever one you decide on! Happy Week Before Christmas!
What a sweet memory! Looking forward to seeing the reveal of their space, love the bedding.
Wow, Susan, you could win an Oscar for the Best Grandma! I look forward to seeing how the boys’ Christmas room turns out. Enjoy those special days you have ahead of you throughout the Holidays!
OMG…I WANT TO MAKE A SNOW ANGEL NOW!!! Those lil kiddos will adore their very own snow/fur rug. I have two that are very “sensory” and they gravitate to my velvet pillows, mohair pillows, suede pillows…oh, oh…I am very “pillow.” franki
Only another grandmother would understand that “which rug made the best fur angels” is the number one priority for her grandsons. As they grow older you will be amazed at all the little things they remember. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
I hope you do capture the rug testing, that would be so cute! My snowmen for hot cocoa arrives today, thus begins that all important daily choice for just the right one
Wow! What a memory! Thank you for sharing. There is nothing like being a Glamma!
Thank you so much for hosting. I am excited to share my Christmas porch decor, DIY decor, and home tour. Happy Holidays!
How incredibly sweet, Susan. I love your new standard for quality measure.
Love that story Susan. I was in Marshall’s recently and saw dinosaur wrapping paper. I immediately thought of you and your grandboys! Merry Christmas to you and your family.
That sweet story about Charlie brought tears to my eyes.
I LOVE their bedding and the fur rug–just perfect together! You are creating so many wonderful memories for your grandsons, ones they’ll cherish always. The story is precious, as is the wonder all little ones seem to possess. I miss my grandchildren sooo much–hate that they live far away. I am thankful for face time.
My husband and I spent the evening with our two-year old grandson last night. One of his two current favorite books bedtime books is If You give a Mouse a Cookie, which I somehow missed when our son and daughter were little. Loved it!
Fur angels. Love it. Nothing more to be said!!
Fur angels, ah much warmer than the snow ones for sure … ☺. You are such a great Grandma! -Brenda-
What a precious memory! I’m looking forward to seeing the boys’ room when it’s all decked out for Christmas.
Aww, how sweet ! What a precious memory. Can’t wait to see the big reveal. Enjoy and safe travels safe to snow country. Merry Christmas !
Thank you so much for hosting!
What a precious story and memory Susan! I love that your grandson was making “fur” angels on that rug. So sweet! I can’t wait to see the revel of their Christmas makeover or the “fur” angel making on the fur rug. Sometimes I wish we didn’t have to grow up all the way and lose our innocence. I guess we just need to start thinking like a child once again. lol Hugs, Brenda
Baby it’s cold outside. A fur rug might make all of us happy and cozy.
For some reason, your emails aren’t coming anymore.
Merry Christmas
