Southern Living Idea House in Senoia Georgia: Bedrooms and Baths

Merry Christmas, Eve! While we continue enjoying all the beautiful tablescapes posted for Tablescape Thursday, here are a few more rooms in the Southern Living Idea House I toured several weeks ago.

This was the Master Bedroom. The colors were really soft and soothing…very warm.

I was really curious about how the lamps were mounted above the bed…so I spread the fabric apart to see. Here’s the best pic I could capture in case you were wondering, too.

Love, love, love the secretary! The door there on the right leads to the master bath.

Here’s the view looking back at the bed…this pic is from Southern Living, online.

And here’s the Master Bath. Notice how the sink is designed to look like an old dresser or piece of furniture. Beautiful mirror! You can just see the built-ins inside the master closet in this pic. How about a look inside?

The master closet…

More of the Master Bath area…I was intrigued with the tub and how it sort of fit down into the cabinetry around it.

So I took a close up to share with you in case you were curious how it looked, too. The cabinetry was literally cut to fit around the shape of the tub.

This was one of the children’s bedrooms in the home…

Another view… It was impossible to get full views of rooms…people were everywhere!

This bathroom was located between the bedroom you just saw and a nursery…coming up next. 🙂 I had to rush to get all the pics because people were entering and exiting the rooms all the time. I really wish I could have captured more full-room pics for you. Oh well, this is better than nothing, right? 🙂

Cute nursery! I managed to catch this room with no one in it. I really loved all the bright colors in this home. After so many tours in the past years of new homes/model homes with bland, neutral, beige interiors, it’s was wonderful to see lots of color in rooms again.

Another bath in the home…cute cabinet and…WAIT. JUST. A. MINUTE! Hold the Presses! It’s a shiny brass mirror! Can you believe it??? It makes me happy to see some polished brass in a Southern Living Idea House. There’s hope! My home just may be back in style again one day. 😉 Wallpaper and a brass mirror! It is sort of funny/interesting to see a modern “vessel sink” in a bathroom with wallpaper and a brass mirror, isn’t it?

Hope you enjoyed this part of the tour and I hope you’re having a wonderful holiday with your family!

Thanks for showing how the lights are attached..
Susan, exactly what are those wreaths made of?/ could you tell?
You may remember, in the early eighties many southern homes had those crocheted heart wreaths in every window.. I'd love to try sommething like they have in the sample photo in my own home..
Thanks for posting all this beautiful inspiration..

    Merry Christmas
    Sonny

  6. Gorgeous!! I seriously want that closet!!

  7. Very pretty home…thanks for taking us along, Susan! I love touring the SL homes & have done several in the past. Wish they'd build a few up here in the frozen tundra. LOL

I'm not getting rid of all my Balwin brass & neither is Yvonne, so we'll all be ready for the next phase in decorating. 😉

Hope you're having a Blessed Christmas Eve!

  19. Wonderful tour. I so enjoyed the baby's room.

  20. Oh Susan, had to chuckle. I have LOTS of brass around here…all faucets, mirrors, doorhandles, etc. I LOVE brass and I don't even care if it's out of style. To me, it's classy! So of course I was happy to see the brass mirror! Also liked the built in closet. Now THAT, you won't find around here. ha ha Susan

  21. I'm in love with the master suite, the rest of the bedrooms….not so much. Thanks for the tour and a very Merry Christmas to you.

  24. when can I nove in??? it's completely beautiful! Love the bathrooms…I'm kind of addicted to unique bathrooms because most are so cookie cutter!

  25. Have a blessed Christmas! Enjoy each other. Much love and prayers!

  26. What a beautiful house! I'm with you on the brass. I have drug out all my old brass candlesticks again and I'm so glad I didn't paint over them like so many of my friends did! I love the look of brass and even though it hasn't been "trendy" lately it will always look classic to me. Wishing you a Merry Christmas.

  29. Susan (Between Naps on the Porch) says

Hi Sonny, I think the wreaths were made of shells. I believe I have a close-up pic of one. If I do, I'll try to post that real soon for you.

  30. Bonnie@Creative Decorating says

Oh such gorgeous images…. truly inspiring!!

Merry Christmas to you and all your loved ones!

  34. Susan, thank you so much for the refreshing 'non-Christmas' related post! Like a breath of fresh air right now! It's still Christmas and I can't wait to put my decorations away and welcome Spring (even though we finally just had our first snow!). I just love that master bedroom – the dust ruffle check fabric reminded me that I have a fabric just like that that I should use up in my bedroom! Thanks for the pictures – those antique dressers as side tables are just lovely too – I love to use dressers instead of end tables – so much more practical if you have the room!

    Merry Christmas!

  37. Graceful Moments says

Susan, your house will always be in style, because it is classically traditional and lavished with beauty! It isn't trendy or "in fashion" but it is designed with style that is your own and it will always be beautiful, warm and inviting! What more could one ask of a home!
Hope you had a great Christmas and thanks for sharing the S.L. Idea House!

  38. Thanks for the tour, Susan! I love the warm tones and touches! You crack me up with your comment about brass..I too am waiting for that to come back..I figure that as soon as I spray paint everything black or white, my old brass lamps will be back in style! thanks for inspiring us on a regular basis and for sharing your lovely home!

  39. Hey Susan, I didn't know you made it to Senoia – YEA! What a fun girls' day a visit to that house was!

I thought the custom made light fixtures were the most stunning part of the house, just incredible. I know I grabbed the artisan's card but I have no clue what I did with it (typical me). I also loved that bathroom in the basement with the ruler mirror. It was just such an elegant yet relaxed home. Kudos to Southern Living and to you for getting some good pics (mine came out awful; I think I took them on my iPhone).

Mostimportantly, did you make it to The Redneck Cafe for some fried pickles? To die for!

    🙂 Becky

I'd love to hear from you! Please leave a comment!
