Historic Tyson-Stedham Home Restoration

Welcome to the 173rd Metamorphosis Monday!

Greetings!   Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Several folks have been asking over the past few months for an update on the restoration process of the historic Tyson-Stedham home in Adel, Georgia.   If you’ve been reading BNOTP for a while, you may remember this old home was in pretty bad shape when Dustin, of Van de Fleet Designs and Restoration, first began work on the 1912 Arts and Crafts bungalow.  (You’ll find links to all the pasts posts following this restoration from the start at the end of this post.)

Here’s how this home looked before Dustin began the restoration.  It had been sadly neglected over the years and was in rough shape with peeling paint, mis-guided additions, and multiple roof-overs.

I can’t take you inside just yet because the home may be featured in some publications in the near future.  Once that takes place, I’ll be able to share the interior restoration.  For today, we’ll just check out the final exterior views, including the pretty landscaping.

Dustin chose an historic color pallet for the trim, siding and shutters.  The home has a new roof, new paint, and new porch restorations, front and the back.

A small fence was built to shield the view of the AC unit from the road.

Here’s how the back of the home looked prior to restoration.

And here’s how it looks now.  The porch had been closed in and Dustin took it back to its original function as a porch.  So much nicer as a porch!  What a great spot to sit with a glass of lemonade on a hot summer’s day.

I promise I’ll post the interior pics as soon as those are available.  In the meantime, here are links to other posts in the restoration series for the Tyson-Stedham home:
