Marie’s Beautiful Screened Porch Addition with Before & After Photos

Welcome to the 550th Metamorphosis Monday!

Recently I received an email from a Marie, a BNOTP reader. Marie saw the photos I’ve shared of my screened-in porch and decided to add one to the back of her home. This was the area where Marie decided to add on her porch.

Before Photo, Building a Screened Porch

Marie shared a few photos in her email showing the process of building the porch.

Replacing Patio with a Screened Porch

It appears in the photo below that the double windows were replaced with French doors. They also appear to be set out a bit from the rest of the house.

Adding on a Screened Porch

You can see that a bit better in this photo.

Let’s take a look at the “After” for this screened porch addition.

Building a Screened Porch

Wow! Sooo pretty! Notice the lighting running along the screened windows. I’m not sure how that was added, but it looks beautiful in the evening time!

Screened Porch Addition

I love how Marie has mixed white wicker furniture with stained pieces for her porch. It adds just the right amount of warmth to this outdoor room.

Screened Porch with White Wicker

Marie added pretty white sheers to the windows for a soft, dreamy feel. Love that!

Thanks so much to Marie for sharing these photos of her beautiful screened porch addition.

  1. THAT is gorgeous. What a wonderful job. So cozy! My only complaint would be that I have to dust all the little knick knacks. LOL! But totally worth it!
    Have a lovely day!
    Kim

  2. Wow, Marie took that idea and ran with it. It came out so well. I hope she’ll tell us about the lights. I also love the warmth and atmosphere they give the space. Thanks Susan and Marie for sharing this lovely project.

  3. Wow, Marie certainly created a lovely space when she added that screened porch! Looks like she had the cement floor painted or put indoor/outdoor carpet down. I loved looking at all “pretties” she has decorated the room with. Th iris stained glass piece is stunning. Beautiful job Marie.

  4. A covered deck is next on our agenda, since our current uncovered deck has got to be replaced. Although I would love to have it screened, it’s not practical with 2 90-pound labs running inside and out all day. Unless they can work a screen door!

  5. Tammy Schulz says

My first thought was that now Susan needs to add a pool for her next metamorphosis Monday. The grandsons would LOVE that!

  6. Cyndi Raines says

Love it and with the pool right outside, how wonderful is that! Great job Marie! Thanks Susan, see what an inspiration you are to all of us!

  7. We’ll she did a wonderful job! Do you have or can you get a link to the rug she used on her porch. I really like it!

    • I emailed Marie yesterday for some additional information about the porch. I’ll ask about the rug when I hear back from her. Thanks, Deborah!

  8. Susan,
Thanks so much for sharing Marie’s new porch!! I LOVE it and wish I had room to have my own! Thanks so much for hosting each week!!
    Hugs,
    Debbie

  9. Hi Susan, I’m sorry to pose this question in your comments section, but I tried emailing you, and was unsuccessful. Did you recently name a source for your print magazine subscriptions, or was that another blogger that I read? I know that you love to travel so I assume most of your reading material you receive on your e-reader. Thanks so much.

    • Actually, I don’t really read that much about travel in magazines, mostly I Google for articles and just read what I find available online. In the past, I have purchased a couple of travel magazines on eBay to check them out, but I don’t subscribe to any travel magazines. The only magazines I subscribe to these days is the Robb Report and Birds & Blooms. Several years ago I briefly subscribed to Conde Nast Traveler magazine but I found them to be very political in their articles and I hated that, so I canceled my subscription after only a couple of months. There are quite a few online sites that highlight the best places to travel and I do to subscribe to a few of those. One of my favorites is luxurytravelmagazine dot com. I love reading about exotic places to travel, then finding a more economical way to go. Hope that helps.

  10. NICE!! franki

  11. Thanks Susan! I know you are thrilled that your porch was the inspiration for Marie’s new pretty spot!

  12. Linda S Page says

What a beautiful addition to Marie’s house! Great job, Marie!! I love wicker so I am drooling over the furniture. I would want to stay on her porch all of the time!!! Thanks for sharing!

  13. Valerie L. Allen says

Gorgeous porch, Marie! I wonder if you live in a warm/not much rain climate or are there windows, too? Living in IL, my screen porch can be used from May- October. Love looking at Susan’s picture’s as well as her fans!

  14. Wow that turned out really nice! Love the wicker furniture.

  15. Brenda Lawrence says

What a beautiful and relaxing porch! So warm, so welcoming. Thanks for sharing Marie’s porch Susan, such a wonderful room to enjoy the outside. Hugs, Brenda

  16. Susan, funny thing, I also subscribed to Traveler Magazine a few years ago since I’m an “armchair” traveler, but cancelled it for the same reason — too political. It’s everywhere!

Marie’s porch is really inviting; it must be a joy to have, especially on nice evenings.

And I agree with Tammy that you and Nancy need to do a pool next … 😉

  17. Michele M. / Finch Rest says

And no, I STILL haven’t added that porch I have been whining all these years about not having…..well Marie’s wonderful screened porch, along with yours and many others…………has inspired me………..this summer it had to be a replacement deck, though.

    One day my porch will come…. ♫ ♪ ♫……..

  18. Wow looks stunning.

  19. Charlotte Bruce says

That is an amazing transformation!! Stunningly beautiful. I’d want to spend ALL my time there. You are certainly a wonderful inspiration to many, and this shows it.

  20. Susan…If Marie responds back, do you mind asking what type of windows she used on her porch??

  21. Caroline Donnelly says

I just found your blog and was so impressed with your porch and the above porch that I am adding a screened porch to our 1910 home in Lexington VA. Your blog is so beautiful and I am enjoying reading all the older posts. I will take pictures of the porch as they progress. We will be starting in the next week or two.

  22. We are in the process of having our porch extended at our beach house. I am going to decorate it with wicker, this porch is so pretty and has given me great ideas. I also love the decorative birdhouses, could you ask Marie where she purchased them?

    Thank you

  23. Joy Rucker says

I’m excited to finally begin construction of a screened porch! Like you, I want the lighting to be primarily lamps. Do you have electrical outlets on the outside wall of your porch? Just wondering how to plan this out. Your porch has been my inspiration for years! Thanks so much.

I'd love to hear from you! Please leave a comment!
