What Is The Name of That Blue Paint In The Bedroom, Bathroom & Your Office?

Ever since I shared a tour of the upstairs part of the Dollhouse in THIS previous post, I’ve had several comments and emails asking if I know the brand/name of the blue paint that was used for the Master Bedroom, Master Bath, and the FROG (Finished Room Over the Garage) that I’m using as my office. Recently, I came across several paint cans in the Dollhouse basement, and as I cleaned those off before moving them to another location, I snapped photos of the cans, along with the formulas. So, if you were one of the dearhearts who asked about the blue paint in the Master Bedroom…

…I didn’t see a paint can with blue paint that was labeled Master Bedroom, however, I did find one that was labeled Master Bath. I texted Katie, the lovely owner who lived here for 20 years before the most recent owners moved out, and she said that she may have used a shade darker blue in the Master Bath. The master bath is a lot sunnier than the bedroom, so I can see why she may have done that—if she did. This is the paint that Katie chose for the Master Bath

Here’s the label on the top of the can showing the name of the paint color, Lanquid Blue, along with its formula.

Here’s how it looks in the Master Bath.

So, how about the blue paint that was used in the office?

This is the paint can that I found that was labeled, “Room Over Garage.”

Here’s the label that’s on top of the can, showing the name of the paint as Faded Flaxflower, along with its formula.

Update: Found one more can of blue paint tucked into an alcove here in the room over the garage. This one is called Sleepy Blue.

Here’s the formula showing on the top of the can for Sleepy Blue. Sounds like a great color for a bedroom. Not sure if it’s the color that was used in the room over the garage (my office) or if this could the be the paint color that was used in the Master Bedroom.

Hope this helps with any questions about the blue paint color in both of those rooms—the Master Bedroom/Bath and the office. See you tomorrow for Tablescape Thursday!

  1. I am a blue girl all the way!! It’s such a calming color to me. Love it in the office and the bathroom tile is so pretty!
Looks like you are making progress! Congratulations!!

Thanks so much Susan for looking into the paint colors, even though you’ve been super busy!

  3. Did you decide to keep the carpet? If you are still thinking about it I thinka round one would be perfect. you would see the rectangle one coming into your office and then the round one in your office. that way you are not looking at two rectangle ones. I have plaster walls in my 90 year old house and we just used Behr Marquee paint. One coat coverage, worked great.

    • I kinda love that idea, just not sure any of the sizes they had for the round would work. I would love to have tried a round one in the room though and I do love the idea of mixing up the shapes. I hate to keep ordering them because they are so heavy to repackage when I need to return it. I do wonder how a round one would have looked.
Thanks for that tip about the Behr Marquee…great to know!

  5. Thanks for sharing the paint info, and I’m so glad you’re keeping the blue color in your new office. I’ve been thinking, though – have you considered painting the office ceiling (and only the ceiling) white? I love the blue ceiling in the master bath because it’s a relatively small area, but something about the big expanse of blue on the office ceiling makes the room feel heavy. I know it’s already a bright room with all the beautiful windows, but a white ceiling would lighten (pun intended) the room, while keeping a good amount of blue on the walls. Just a thought!

    • That’s a great point. When I looked at the photos of the house when it was for sale, I thought I would for sure paint the ceilings in the master bedroom and the office white. They looked blue in the listing and once I saw the house in person, I saw that they were indeed really blue. After I moved in, I kinda got why the master was painted that way because its walls kind of just meld into the ceiling and it’s hard to find a stopping point where the walls end and ceiling starts.
But in the office where I’m sitting right now, it’s much more defined and easier to see where the walls stop and the ceiling starts, so that would be a great idea for this room. The ceiling does feel a bit heavy, just as you mentioned. Once I get to the painting part in this house, I would like to do that—have the ceiling painted white. Thanks for mentioning that, Kathy. I hadn’t really thought much about it since I first noticed the blue ceilings in the listing, but that’s a great idea!

    • Kathy, I just thought of something, I wouldn’t want the slanted parts to be white, I love the blue in the alcove section of the office. When I just now did a little research online about how to paint attic rooms or rooms with slanted walls/ceilings, the first two articles I found recommended the ceilings be painted the same as the walls. Ummm, so now I’m not so sure I want the ceiling to be a different color. I really like having the slanted sections blue since I think that adds a lot of charm to the room. Do you know what I mean? Take a look at the photos of the office again. The white walls would just continue up white on the slanted sections if I painted the ceiling white since normally the slanted sections are considered part of the ceiling. Maybe I could go against the way the slanted section is normally painted the same color as the ceiling, and leave those blue.

      • Ugh, it’s always something, isn’t it? First of all, I love the blue in the alcove too; that area, with your desk and whatever bookcase arrangement you end up with behind it, will absolutely be the star of the show. I would have no problem “breaking the rules” and leaving the slanted walls at both ends of the room blue. I’d be interested to see other readers’ experiences and thoughts on the subject. And fortunately you have time to think about it, too, before the painting is done. I know you’ll figure it out perfectly – you always do!

        • I’ll chime in here since I also have some rooms with the slanty ceilings (which I love.) In the rooms I have that are similar to your office, I consider the slanty part as part of the wall, so it’s the wall color. Think of it this way — any part of the wall that basically adds to the height of the wall, is wall color. In my case, only the flat top of the room is painted the white ceiling color. That makes sense to me. If it’s adding height to the room, it’s the wall. If it’s flat on top of the room, it’s ceiling. 🙂

  6. Thanks for resting long enough to share the paint info. So nice of someone to leave those cans with visible information. I am not a blue person because one time I bought a blue rug and nothing ever matched that blue. However, periwinkle is a nice blue if someone is into blue. I seldom use blue in floral arrangements. I can see how all of your decor changes with blues vs yellows in the GA home.
Face it Susan, you need two homes ! Don’t be in a hurry.

  7. I’m one of those who asked about the blue walls, so thank you for this info! I love them all, and I know shades vary with computer screens and time of day. But I really love that bathroom color, especially. Perhaps because it goes so well with the tile color. They are all beautiful, and this is great info. Thanks again, Susan.

I'd love to hear from you! Please leave a comment!
