Atlanta Botanical Garden: Garden Lights, Holiday Nights

Welcome to the 203rd Metamorphosis Monday!

Recently the Atlanta Botanical Garden went through an amazing metamorphosis.  Each year during the Christmas season, the gardens become a magical fairyland.  A lovely friend of mine works there as a volunteer and she invited me along for the opening night this year.  It truly was awe-inspiring and I’m taking you along, too!

Can you just imagine all the work that went into this beautiful display?

This stars/snowflakes floating in amidst the trees was one of my favorite parts of the light display.

So beautiful!  Pictures do not do it justice.  If you live within driving distance of Atlanta, I recommend you go if at all possible.  It’s so beautiful!

A view from the skywalk…

The garden is filled with more than 1 million lights!

Beautiful light in all colors, everywhere you look.

There are so many areas to see and each one is more beautiful than the last.

I loved walking underneath this beautiful lit canopy.

A poinsettia Christmas tree…

A whole wall of poinsettias…

The tropical rainforest was really dark and mysterious.  There were millions of teeny, tiny lights on the foliage inside.

Every now and then, the Emerald City would come into view.

I’m not much of a city girl, but this was an amazing view.   I’m running out of adjectives to describe all the beauty we saw.

Children were roasting marshmallows over fire-pits located in various places around the garden.

There were some really cute indoor displays, as well.  Love these sweet topiaries.

Back outside in the garden, there’s whimsy everywhere you look.

The winter garden is growing well!

This display kept changing colors along with the music that was playing.  It was mesmerizing to watch.

Looking forward to all the fabulous Before and Afters for this Met Monday!

If you are participating in Metamorphosis Monday you will need to link up the “permalink” to your MM post and not your general blog address. To get your permalink, click on your post name, then just copy and paste the address that shows up in the address bar at the top of your blog, into the “url” box for InLinkz.

In order to link up, you’ll need to include a link in your MM post back to the party so the other participants will have an opportunity to receive visits from YOUR wonderful blog readers.

Please observe these few rules:
Only link up Before and After posts that are home, gardening, crafting, painting, sewing, cooking, DIY related.
Do not link up if you’re doing so to promote a website or product.
Do not link up a post that was just linked last week since a lot of readers will have already seen that post.
Do not type in ALL CAPS.  It spreads the links waaaay out.

Let’s try something fun today! Please visit the person who linked before you and after you…that way everyone will get some visits.

Welcome! Thanks for coming to the party!

  18. Hi Susan,
This is beautiful!!! What a fun outing for you! We do something very similar in our town at Tanglewood Park called “Festival of Lights.” Our is a drive through exhibit, though. But it’s nice; everyone cuts on their parking lights (instead of full car lights) after passing the pay gate, and you drive through very slowly. It’s colorful and cheery. 🙂

Thank you for hosting Metamorphosis Monday and have a great day!

    Denise

  32. Susan, thanks for taking me along on the tour. We don’t have lights like this in our little town! I pinned the flowers in the garden because it gave me an idea for putting lights on our garden fence (next year!)

  33. Beautiful! Thanks for sharing.

  34. Truly magical Susan. I loved the the coloured snowflakes in the trees and the poinsettia tree. When we lived in Vancouver, the Van Dusen gardens did a similar thing and we had hot chocolate afterwards, the girls loved it.
