Welcome to the 250th Tablescape Thursday!
Marie always sets the cutest children’s table for each holiday or event. The one she created for her 6 grandchildren for this year’s 4th of July is a delight!
The table has a “star” theme with red and white polka dot star salad plates and blue and white striped salad plates.
An overhead view…
This was the same table Marie used for her own four children when they were growing up. Now her grandchildren enjoy loving prepared meals where their parents did…love that!
My favorite part of this table is the centerpiece. We have mischievous ants making off with the food!
Do you remember that old Chris Van Allsburg children’s book called “Two Bad Ants?” In this case, it’s “six bad ants.” 😉 That used to be one of my son’s favorite books when he was small. Mine, too.
Marie also decorated her breakfast room hutch that’s just a few feet away from the children’s table.
A Bonus Table Setting:
The terrace level wasn’t left out in the 4th of July preparations.
Love those swirl glasses! Those are available in Pier 1.
Each tiny tureen has a small star candle hidden inside.
Love the rectangle flag plates. They have so many cute things available these days for Independence Day celebrations.
Thanks so much to Marie for sharing her wonderful 4th of July tables!

Susan,
Marie sets such an adorable patriotic tablescape for her grandchildren
that it makes one (almost) wish they are sent to the Children’s table, again!!!
Too, too cute are those faux picnic ants!!!
Thank you, dear friend, for hosting Tablescape Thursday each week!!!
I always come away inspired with creative ideas for use in my own home!
Fondly,
Pat
Susan, All of Marie’s holiday décor is delightful. Her hutch looks so pretty, and she has so many unique and fun plates for every occasion. Those waving flag plates are so cute. I want to celebrate all of the holidays at Marie’s house. laurie
Me, too! 🙂
You go Marie, you are the man! 😉 Outstanding and FUN July 4th decorations.
Marie is making wonderful memories for her grandchildren. They won’t be able to attend a paper plate affair and not compare it to how “Grandmother” did things!
Just lovely, and so happy I got to see it!
Great ideas and inspiration as always. Thanks for hosting, Susan. ( The ants are super cute. ) Take care – Dawn
Marie really “sparkles” for the patriotic holidays! How much fun her grandchildren must have!
Wow, what a Grandmother!! Those ants add some fun whimsy! I like those square plates with the stars! It’s fun seeing what she comes up with! Thanks for hosting!
I loved the kid’s table. Do you know where she purchased the large blue and red stars? I’d love to do something like that for the 4th.
Kathy, I’ll check with Marie and find out. I may have seen those in Pier 1 recently, but I’ll check with her.
Kathy, I just added a list to the end of the post showing where Marie found the goodies she used in both tables.
Susan, I can just imagine the delight of Marie’s grandchildren when they visit her. What child wouldn’t find it fun to eat meals at this whimsical table. Love those cute star plates with the stripes and polkadots. Thanks to both of you talented and thoughtful ladies for sharing. Happy 4th of July! ~ Sarah
How gorgeous. I have never seen anyone decorate so elaborately for 4th of July. Can you find out where she got at least some of the stuff! Can you please also go back to her house each holiday??!!!
Yes, definitely! Brenda, if you missed the tables she’s created for Valentines, Easter and Christmas, just click on the category Tablescapes at the top of BNOTP, then click on “Holiday” and you’ll find the tables underneath each holiday category there. I just sent Marie an email and will add that info to the post. 🙂

Marie’s home is always a delight to visit — she’s so creative! Thanks for hosting and sharing all the beauty that you bring to your readers.
Hi Susan,
Here we are again at your house sharing ideas. Thanks for hosting.
I love Marie’s tablescapes. I would be happy to sit at her childrens table! What fun.
Good Morning Susan!
It is always so much fun to see the extravagant tables that Marie creates! I come away feeling so inadequate.
She really has a flair for special events & her grandkidlets will have wonderful memories of her when she is gone.
Thanks for sharing her photos & for hosting TT again & again.
fondly,
Rett
Rett, I’ve seen your beautiful tables…inadequate you are not! They are always beautiful!
These are all so gorgeous! The attention to detail is amazing…thanks so much for sharing.
Susan, do you know if Marie does all her decorating or does she have any help? I was thinking perhaps she has some daughters who like to come help her decorate. If not, I would like to know how she gets all her energy! She could bottle that stuff. 🙂
I’m not sure if her daughters help with the decorating…maybe Marie will see this and answer that for us. I wish she could bottle her energy! Marie has a wonderful zest for life and is so much fun to be around!
Susan: I just love these seasonal tablescapes from Marie’s house.
They inspire me! It must be wonderful to see the house in person.
I just love your blog & read it first all the time.
Marie’s grandkids sure are lucky to have her do all these for her for every occasion. Everything is so well done, so beautiful and festive….Christine
WOW!! Marie really goes all out – talk about attention to detail and being so FESTIVE!
Looks awesome.
Thanks for hosting, Susan.
Beautiful!! I love the stained glass window hangings!!
Hi, Susan!
Gorgeous tablescapes! And not only because of the patriotic theme 😉 but also because of Marie’s fabulous decorating ideas! As always, I love everything I see there, even those “giant” ants! 🙂
P.S. Susan, I forgot to ask you if you have stopped sending “Postcards from the porch”? If so, this is no complaints just a question… 🙂 but… if not… I thought you should know that I received the last one on Saturday the 1st of June! 🙁
~Hugs to you~
Cecilia
Yeah, I stopped for a little while after Max passed…just didn’t have the energy to blog and do the newsletter. I will start it back up soon, though. I should have mentioned it in a post. Glad you asked Cecilia. I’ll get it going again. It’s a good distraction for me to stay busy. XO
Susan,
as I said, no complaints…
Take all the time you need… I understand how you feel…
I hope you know you are always in my thoughts and in my prayers… Love you…
Could you please ask Marie, where she got the white fiatware . Really want some! Thanks, Liz
Just love all your posts!!!
Susan, I always enjoy seeing how Marie has decorated for the holidays! I’m so glad you pointed out those marching ants or I may have missed them. They are adorable! I wish I had time to visit every link here today so that I could see everyone’s tablescapes. They all look amazing! At our house, it will probably be paper products for this holiday!
My son’s birthday is on July 4th so I always love a patriotic setting! Thank you for hosting!
How fun it must be for those grands! I bet they can’t wait for the next holiday. Marie’s table are always just great inspiration.
I’m so late to thge party, Susan…very sorry! I just got back from a flight to where my daughter lives, as my dear aunt died of stomach cáncer at 80 and I had to attend her funeral. All the 4th. of July tables are wonderful and the patriotic hutch is fabulous and so adorable! I will make my own patriotic table next week. Thank you for hosting. Big hugs,
FABBY
Fabby so sorry to hear about your Aunt. 🙁 Glad you made it back safely!
OMG, dearest Susan! I was away on our Flrida vacation and didn’t know sweet Max passed away…oh goodness, I am so sorry!…it took me so long get over our pug Ben’s death 3 years ago and I still cry when I talk about him! Prayers are going your way, sweetie. I am so sorry, I think I will even miss him, as he always was laying somewhere in your lovely home.
Sentimental hugs to you,
FABBY
LOVE the ants!!!!
This is so wonderful! Thank you for this and all of your other great posts!!!
Marie’s seasonal decorating is so well done, with every attention to detail! I smile when I look at those picnic ants, and have searched all over the web for picnic ant figures, and only found a few listed at Oriental Trading and Terry’s Village- and all are sold out. Marie’s are wonderful— such a great eye she has for putting a vignette together! Thank you for allowing us “into” your home!
Hi Susan,
I have been enjoying your website for years – I am hooked on “between naps on the porch”.
I have been searching the web for the black and white vintage prints of a fork and spoon that Marie has in her terrace level of her home. I just love it. Do you know where they were purchased? Thank you for the joy that you put in everyone’s life each day. So sorry for you loss of Max. Lorraine
