A Beautiful Bedroom Renovation

Welcome to the 86th Metamorphosis Monday!

When Amy first purchased her one-hundred year old home in Florida, she had a vision of how she wanted each room to look. She knew she wanted the rooms to be comfy but she also wanted them to have a touch of elegance.

Today, I’m sharing how Amy transformed her bedroom…the Before and After is truly stunning. As you can see below in this Before pic, the walls were lime green and Amy wasn’t at all thrilled with the chandelier and broken blinds.

Another Before pic…

Now for the fun part…the After:

Good-bye lime green walls and not-so-elegant chandelier. Now the room has a wonderful airy feel with the softest of powder pink walls. I LOVE that chandelier!

So romantic and beautiful!

Amy had always wanted a window seat in her bedroom. Since the room didn’t have an alcove for one, she created a window seat feel with a blanket chest by adding a folded blanket as a cushion and some pillows to make it extra cozy. Isn’t this fabulous? Any of us could steal this idea and make it our own in one of our bedrooms.

When you visit Amy’s blog, she has the source for where she found her Carolina Cottage Hope Chest. I was surprised at how reasonably priced it was…very pretty!

Love the dress form Amy found on eBay. It was originally black and she painted it a soft ivory in keeping with the feel of the room. The pink sash is the perfect finishing touch.

Amy found the plaster plaques in a local antique shop. The cute trinket boxes on the floor are from one of my favorite stores…HomeGoods.

Amy really wanted the look of a beautiful Victorian writing desk for her room. She had spotted one at Ballard Designs.com for $349 (Anne Secretary Desk). Smart girl…Amy checked Craig’s list and found the same desk for only $100! Now that will make you a Craig’s list believer! Wow!

Amy has the cutest pic on her blog of her kitty, Thumbelina testing out the chair she has in front of the desk. 🙂

Amy dressed up her lamp shades by hot gluing white frills and pink rosettes to the bottom and top. Amazingly, the art in the picture frame was printed off the computer. Amy explains in detail at her blog how she found the pics online and used those to create her own beautiful art for her bedroom.

Amy thanks so much for sharing your beautiful bedroom renovation. You’ve really inspired all of us by sharing the many creative ways you designed this lovely room.

  16. Hope you are enjoying your new computer!

The transformation is beautiful. Amy's old chandelier is very much like the chandelier in my first apt. in Harrisonburg VA. My apt. building was built in the 30's, and each apt. had two of the of those types of chandeliers. I have no idea of their worth, but it was a sweet memory seeing Amy's old chandelier! I love what Amy has done with her room, it certainly is more restful looking!

I hope you have a wonderful day off tomorrow!
