I just returned yesterday from a wonderful visit with friends who live in the beautiful community of Big Canoe. On Friday, we toured the Tate House in Tate, Georgia. I’m looking forward to sharing photos from that visit soon. If you live in Atlanta or the north Georgia area, it’s definitely worth a trip for their holiday tour. They just added a stunning arboretum to the home. No rooms were off limits during the tour inside this amazing home. We were oohing and ahhing all the way through! This Dohm white noise machine was in the bedroom where I slept this weekend, and I was amazed by how much it sounds like the fan I run in my bedroom at home. I liked it so much, I ordered one last night, so I won’t have to run an actual fan at night anymore. I like that this one doesn’t have a bunch of digital, fake sounds available from which to choose; it’s strictly a sound machine that produces a true “fan” sound, which is exactly what I want when sleeping. The volume and tone are easily adjusted, so it can be as loud or as soft as needed. It should arrive tomorrow, and I’m looking forward to putting my fan away for the winter. My son loves skiing! If he lived close enough to a ski resort, I have no doubt that he would be out on the slopes every chance he got.
Last year, I purchased this book for him for Christmas. It’s a thick book, and it showcases the beautiful work of James Niehues, the artist who is famous for creating all the trail maps you normally see/collect when visiting the most popular ski resorts. All of the most popular ski resort trails/maps are featured in the hand-drawn, colored images in this wonderful book, including Breckenridge, the ski resort we visited the most during my son’s childhood. He was beyond excited when he opened this gift last Christmas.

I have that exact Duraflame heater in the same color that you showed, it’s nice for ambience, but on a cold day or evening, the heat feels great and I love that it’s warm to the touch but not hot and the cats can get close to it and not get burned.
I noticed in the ad that it shows books on top, so I was hoping that meant it didn’t get hot on the outside. I could see a cat napping on top of it one day. lol Thanks for that additional info about it, Mary Beth!

I purchased the Dohm original sound machine some years ago. One of the top reasons for choosing the Dohm was the fact that it was mechanical, not digital. It replicates the sound of a fan perfectly, is small and unobtrusive and is easy to operate with a wide variety of sound level settings. I liked it so much that I bought a second one for our guest room. It’s small and easy to pack and take with us when we’re traveling. Should one of the two I own have a mishap, I would immediately purchase another to replace it.
