With Father’s Day just a week away, today I’m sharing some of my and my son’s favorites, in case you’re looking for that perfect Father’s Day gift or a great gift for any of the guys in your family.
The Yeti Tundra cooler is always at the top of my list when looking for a gift the guys (or the gals) will enjoy. It’s awesome for camping and fishing trips or just hanging out in the backyard. My son and his wife regularly fill theirs up for backyard parties or gatherings with friends and family, especially when they have a whole weekend of cornhole gaming planned.
After giving one to my son for his birthday a few years back, I had serious Tundra envy. When Yeti came out with one in my favorite color, I couldn’t resist. I love the tundra! Since it’s on wheels, it’s super easy to pull wherever you need. Tundras are popular for taking to the beach for that reason—no more lugging a heavy cooler across the sand.
A few years back, Yeti came out with the Tundra in bright red. The color was discontinued, which means the price shot up dramatically! I noticed it’s back in stock now and is priced at their normal price for the Tundra. If you missed out on the red, now’s a chance to get it for the normal price. I’m tempted to get one in red since we’re all Georgia Bulldog fans around here. You’ll find the Tundra in stock in several colors here: Yeti Tundra Haul Cooler.
For another year, I gave my son a Yeti backpack. Whenever the weather permits, my son, DIL, and grandsons love to go hiking through one of the many surrounding parks. The style of the backpack has been improved and upgraded since I last purchased one for my son. You’ll find the latest version of this awesome backpack here: Yeti Backpack. I like the current version even better than the one I bought for my son.
One more Yeti favorite with both the guys and the gals is their 30 oz Rambler/Tumbler. It will keep drinks cold for a long, long time, so it’s great for travel. You’ll find this tumbler available in a bunch of different colors here: Yeti Rambler Tumbler, 30 oz.
If you’re looking for a great cooler that can easily be locked and has a friendly price, check this one out. It’s has great reviews here: Rugged Cooler.
For Christmas, I gave my son this wireless meat thermometer since he does a lot of grilling on his Big Green Egg. He has mentioned several times over the past few months how much better this thermometer is than any he has ever owned. Most don’t work well for him since his grill is a fair distance away from the house. He no longer has to leave watching the game or playing with my grandsons to step outside and walk toward the grill to monitor what’s happening with whatever he’s grilling. This one works great from anywhere in the house. If you know someone who regularly smokes a pork butt or grills out, and they’ve had trouble finding a wireless meat thermometer that works well from inside their home, my son and I very much recommend this one. You’ll find it available here: Meat Thermometer for Grilling.
If your Dad or the guy in your life loves to travel, I can’t recommend the importance of keeping your credit cards, debit card, and passport safe from scanning attempts by those who are looking to steal your identity or credit card info. A wallet that offers RFID protection would make a great gift. This one is available here: RFID Protection for Credit Cards, IDs, and Passports.
If you don’t want to change your wallet while traveling, then tuck those credit cards into RFID protective sleeves to avoid having your card scanned. I love that these are from Travelon because it was a Travelon shoulder bag that saved me during a trip to Egypt. (Read about that here: How I Foiled a Pickpocket Thief in Cairo. You’ll find these available here: RFID Protection for Credit Cards.
Beautiful pens always seem to be a hit with the guys. This one has great reviews—4.6 stars after 3,149 reviews. I think it would make a beautiful gift for a man or a woman. You’ll find it available here: Rosewood and Maple Wood Pen. Here’s another one that is part of a set and is also very pretty: 3-Pc Wooden Pen Set with Gift Case.
I’ve heard from so many BNOTP readers over the years saying how much their Dad or Mom loves their puzzle board! I get it—it’s the only way I’ll do a puzzle now since I can puzzle away as long as I wish without experiencing the back pain I used to have when bending over a puzzle for hours. If your Dad or someone you know loves puzzles, I very much recommend this adjustable puzzle board. I love it so much, I bought a second one for the Dollhouse when I moved here a year ago. Can’t be without my puzzle board! You’ll find it available here: Puzzle Board.
Recently, a friend was telling me about these WASGIJ puzzles. (Thanks, Rita!) Have you heard about them? They are a bit more challenging than your standard puzzle. Instead of putting together the puzzle that you see on the box, part of the challenge is to imagine what the characters in the puzzle are seeing at that moment and what the next “scene” will be. There are so many of these puzzles from which to choose, and they are divided into categories: Original, Mystery, and Destiny. I decided to try a Mystery one first and chose this one titled Blight at the Museum. It should arrive tomorrow. Sometimes I’m in the mood for an easy puzzle, but every now and then, I want something a bit more challenging. I can’t wait to try this one! You’ll find all the WASGIJ (which spells Puzzle backwards) available here: WASGIJ Puzzle. If you like the one I’ve ordered, you’ll find it available here: Blight at the Museum. You’ll find many more of my favorite puzzles that I’ve completed in the past here: Favorite Puzzles.
Does your dad (or hubby) love to garden? Many years ago, I saw an article that recommended using a drill with an auger attachment for digging holes in the garden for tulip bulbs. I bought an auger attachment and tried it with my much-loved DeWalt drill and couldn’t get the auger to penetrate more than a couple of inches into the ground. What I didn’t realize at the time is that I needed a more powerful drill, like a Hammer drill.
There have been so many times over the past few months that I wished I had a hammer drill. For example, when I was trying to remove screws from the painted brick wall in the Dollhouse garage, my drill was not even making a dent at getting those screws out. An electrician was here working at the time, and using his hammer drill, he was able to remove them with ease. Since I plan on doing a lot of planting in the garden this fall, I just purchased this hammer drill that should work great with the augers I’ll be using. Note: The hammer function can be turned off when not needed, then the drill just acts as an impact drill, which is still very powerful.
Hammer drills are not meant for use on wood or metal, a regular drill works best for those. But they are great for drilling into brick and concrete surfaces or for drilling holes for planting. Today, I purchased a 4-inch auger that I plan to use when I install a 4 x 4 post for a birdhouse in the garden. I wish I’d had this drill back when I used a mechanical post-hole digger to install posts for three birdhouses in the Georgia house garden! You’ll find the hammer drill that I just purchased here: DeWalt Cordless Hammer Drill Kit. I love DeWalt drills and can’t wait to give this one a try!
Hope you find these suggestions helpful as you shop for the perfect gift!
Awesome gift ideas, Susan! Let us know how long it takes to work your puzzle!
I want one too ! (Hammer drill) I need to find an affordable self propelled electric lawnmower next.
Have you tried the puzzles that make a vase ?
Thanks. I really need auger since my husband is supposed to be careful with his back, and I don’t ask him to dig holes anymore.
