Whimsical Snowman-Themed Tablescape, Perfect For The Winter Months Ahead

Welcome to the 898th Tablescape Thursday! I’m posting Tablescape Thursday a little early this week since I’ll be busy with some other holiday activities over the next few days.

Several years ago, I came across a fun snowman, winter-themed table setting, and I filed it away in my brain as a fun table to create one day. I’m not sure where I first saw it; it may have been on Instagram. Finally, this year, I gathered together the things I needed and made it happen!

As I began putting this snowman-themed table setting together last night, I was surprised to find that I had quite a few pieces that would work perfectly for a Snowman table.

The super fun thing about this table is that it’s designed around all the elements that you normally need and use when dining. The white dinnerware, a purchase from Big Lots back around 2008-2009, makes up the body of Mr. Snowman, with the dinner plate acting as his lower half and the salad plate as Mr. Snowman’s head.

A napkin makes a great scarf, while twig flatware is perfect for his arms. Black cocktail napkins work great as Mr. Snowman’s top hat, and a twig-handle knife works nicely as the brim of his hat. I wish my table were a little bit wider so each snowman’s top hat didn’t overlap his fellow snowman’s hat. If your dining room table is wider, you won’t have the overlapping issue.

Blueberries worked great for eyes, while an orange baby carrot worked great as Mr. Snowman’s nose.

I like how figs look as Mr. Snowman’s buttons.

Blueberries make great buttons, too. Which do you like best? Do you think raspberries would make a cute mouth, or maybe raisins since they are smaller?

The snowflake stemware was a find in Dollar Tree many years back. I also have this same snowflake design in a highball-style glass.

I purchased two items to create the centerpiece: faux snowballs and a festive top hat. (Snowballs are available here: Faux Snowballs. The top hat is available here: Top Hat. I already had the glass container. Those are usually easy to find online.

I’ve had the table runner for a while, most likely purchased in HomeGoods or Marshalls. The twig flatware was a find at West Elm many years ago. As I was putting this table together, I wasn’t sure which flatware I’d use. As soon as I saw the twig flatware in my stash of flatware, I knew that was the one! I tucked the twig spoon underneath the napkin. If you look closely, you’ll notice it peeking out in one of the photos. (Black cocktail napkins used to make the top hats are available here: Black Napkins.

Snowman Tablescape for Winter

This is a table setting that will work great all throughout winter. Love that!

If you would like to make a snowman cake to enjoying with your snowman table, you’ll find the recipe for one that I made here:
Snowman Spice Cake. I need to remember where I stored the snowflake confetti seen in this previous table. Those would look great sprinkled across my current table, wouldn’t they?

Looking forward to the beautiful tables linked for this week’s Tablescape Thursday!

To get your permalink, click on your post name, then copy and paste the address showing in the address bar, into the “url” box when you link up. You’ll need to include a link in your post back to the party to link up and participate. That’s so visitors to your blog will be able to find the party and the other Tablescape Thursday participants. Requiring a link back also prevents businesses and scammers from linking up to sell their products. Please, don’t add your post name/blog name ALL IN CAPS…it tends to create big spaces between the rows of links. Please do not link up table settings that were just recently shared in the last few weeks for Tablescape Thursday.

So cute! I like snowmen just the way you styled. But if I made lips it would be raisins.

  2. How cute. The twig silverware is perfect. You could make hats out of black felt glitter squares and some plaid ribbon. You have to be fast these days to buy the snowman hat at Michael’s. I was able to obtain a can of spray snow this year. I did myself in with the Christmas drum. I forgot it was in a box, not a blue tub, and stepped on it. As if that wasn’t bad enough, I straightened it out and put treat bags in it that I hand out to regular clerks I know when I shop. About the time I finished, I realized I had red glitter all over my hands that was peeling off my drum. Remember to save your dessicate bags when you buy new shoes and purses. It’s so humid here and things break down.
Will you drive back to the dollhouse if it snows ? Santa shipping gifts or driving them home? Chris Rea has a recording and video about Driving Home For Christmas.

  3. How adorable! Great idea for after the holidays, like in the winter blues period. Hope you get a chance to do this for the grandsons. And the adults!

    • Yes! It would be perfect for that! I still have the Christmas Kitty plates on the table there right now, but the snowman would be great for January.

  4. Very cute and clever and oh so easy! Thanks for sharing.

    • Thanks, Toni! It was super easy. The hardest part was finding the best way to fold the napkin so that it looked kinda like a scarf. I finally landed on a way that looked the way I wanted.

  5. Love it Susan!

  6. Love, love, love this! Thanks for sharing.
