Welcome to the 893rd Tablescape Thursday! I brought up more dishes with me on this past trip back from Georgia. Having just adopted two furbabies, I thought this would be a fun Christmas table to set for my grandsons.

Actually, my son and DIL are pretty smitten with the new furbabies, so I think they’ll enjoy this table as much as the boys. These photos were taken early this morning, so the lighting isn’t the best. Hopefully, I can add some taken in natural lighting later today.

The “Christmas Kitties” salad plates in this tablescape are by Oneida. Initially, I only had a set of four but I was finally able to find another set on eBay a few years back. So now I finally have enough to set a table for six or eight.

I love how whoever designed these plates paired all the kitties with Christmas presents. My cats have always loved the chaos and unboxing that happens on Christmas Day. The more wrapping paper and boxes strewn all over the room, the more they liked it. lol

The dinner plate is from the Better Homes and Gardens Christmas dinnerware collection that was available in Walmart for many years. Unfortunately, it’s been discontinued now. Every year, BH&G would add to the collection with new salad plate designs. I bought many over the years because their designs were always so cute!

The name of the salad plate collection is Christmas Kitties. If you love this pattern and would like to collect it, it normally pops up on eBay around this time of year.

Again, there are 4 designs in this collection, including this adorable white kitty.

This is the final design in this collection.

This design pairs well with plaid chargers like these from Williams Sonoma. These chargers were exclusively available at Williams Sonoma for several years, but I believe they have been discontinued now.

I need some Christmas cat-themed napkin rings. lol

Reindeer napkin rings will have to do for now.

I’m pretty sure I found this cute, hand-painted pitcher in Old Time Pottery. It’s been too long to remember for sure. On the bottom of the pitcher is written: DEMDACO design for the home. Under that, it says: Set Sail, 2006 DEMDACO. Set Sail sounds like it should have a sailboat pattern, doesn’t it?

The Mr. and Mrs. Santa salt and pepper shakers are from Publix Supermarket, many years back. I think these came out around the same time they sold the Thanksgiving Pilgrim platter and S&P shakers. I love it when supermarkets do that!

The Christmas kitties on the salad plates requested a birdie-covered Christmas tree.

Can’t remember where I found these muffler-clad, adorable birds now. I’ve used them in a table setting before, so I probably mentioned it then. If I had to guess, I would say Target. Target often has great Christmas tree ornaments this time of year.

Looking forward to the beautiful tables linked for this week’s Tablescape Thursday!

If you are participating in Tablescape Thursday, please be sure to add your permalink below, and not your general blog address. To get your permalink, click on your post name, then copy and paste the address showing in the address bar, into the “url” box when you link up. You’ll need to include a link in your post back to the party to link up and participate. That’s so visitors to your blog will be able to find the party and the other Tablescape Thursday participants. Requiring a link back also prevents businesses and scammers from linking up to sell their products. Please, don’t add your post name/blog name ALL IN CAPS…it tends to create big spaces between the rows of links. Please do not link up table settings that were just recently shared in the last few weeks for Tablescape Thursday.

This table is adorable. I am going to be looking for these salad plates. In mid October, my youngest son and daughter-in-law’s house was hit by lightning and caught on fire. They had to leave their house, and come move in with me for a couple weeks until they found an apartment, and when they moved in with me, they brought their three cats. My cat was not pleased I can tell you. So, there were three adults and four cats all living together. Fortunately, I had plenty of room, unfortunately, I think my poor Stanley is still traumatized. At any rate, these plates would be perfect for our Christmas celebration this year.
Oh, wow! I’m so sorry that happened to their home! I’m so glad everyone, included the kitties are okay! Yeah, that would be a huge adjustment, for sure. I know they must have been so thankful to have a place to stay temporarily. These would be the perfect plates for your Christmas, Pattie! 🙂
Fortunately, I found them on eBay, all thanks to you and your beautiful table.
Yay! So glad you were able to find some!
Purrfect table! I couldn’t resist. Definitely your table for this year! So cute. Thanks for sharing sharing. I’ll be decorating early this year, Christmas comes and goes too fast.
Thanks so much, Toni! I think that’s a great idea! I brought up a bunch of Christmas stuff this time, well…mostly ornaments for the tree, so I’m itching to get going on that here.
Cute dishes, Susan, and adorable tree. I love bird themed trees. Glad you’re back in the dollhouse.
Thanks, Rita! It was good to get back. 🙂
How adorable. I have cats; all with different personalities. So many free standing go to stores that were our inspiration and where we bought our collections, are gone. I don’t like shopping online. They ever close Home Goods a lot of women will need retail therapy. Someone on the radio said “Christmas is seven weeks away” What ?
So true! It is kinda sad how few stores are left that I used to love to shop. I still haven’t gotten over Pier 1 closing. Shopping that store online just isn’t the same.
Oh that is so cute Susan! Your family will love it! The kitty salad plates are just darling. Thanks for hosting – I so look forward to Thursdays! Hope you have a great rest of the week.
Thanks so much, Barbara! I hope your week is going well! It’s super dreary and rainy here today.
So cool what you did in the dining room shelving!
Wendy
Thanks, Wendy! If I keep this room as the dining room, eventually I’ll put glass-paned doors on those shelves.
Susan! Of course you KNOW how much I love this table! I’ve been searching for those plates for several years, too. ( I hold you responsible! ) As I launched into a renewed flurry of searching after seeing this charming table, I realized that I missed a set in Des Moines last month, dang it!!! This table is so cute and clever! And the birds in the tree are a great accent to the kitties! Just SO fun!! As always, thank you for sharing!
Thanks so much, Selma! Don’t give up, Selma! It took me a while to catch them on eBay. I kept just missing them or being outbid.
That tablescape is to die for!!!! I adore those kitty salad plates. I am so tempted. Great job on the tree with the birds. Your family will be in hog heaven!!
Thanks so much, Vickie! I think they will love it when they see it. I keep forgetting to show it to my grandsons when they are over. We are always so busy with the kittens.
Oh they are so going to love this table setting. Add a Christmas movie after dinner and what a holiday memory! The layering of the plates is spot on; that plaid really frames it all.
Thanks so much, Mia! I love how plaid is almost a neutral when mixed with other designs. I love this time of year, bring on the plaid!
Susan, I hope your hand is feeling better. That’s a lot of lifting you did, if you had to do it mostly one handed.
The idea of the cats on the table and the birds in the tree is so funny. Of course the kitties wanted their birdie friends close by. 😉 The plate stack is great and I like your choice of flatware. It is very cheery and really completes the look of the setting, imo.
I got nostalgic when you mentioned getting bits and pieces from grocery store promotions. I used to love those too. They don’t seem to do them much any more; at least, not around here. They were fun. So many fun or sweet things from our past seem to have gone the way of the dinosaurs. Oh well, can’t stop progress, I guess. (But is it really progress though?)
I hope you have a great weekend with the family.
Anyway, thanks for sharing a tablescape when you should probably be resting that hand.
It’s getting there. I go back for a follow-up appt. tomorrow. I know, I haven’t really slowed down much, I just try to find other ways to do things. I wonder how complicated it is for a store to run a promotion like that…would love to see that done again.
Love those kitties! So cute!
Thanks, Maureen!
I am a cat lover, and these dishes are adorable, love your setting!
Thanks so much, Jacqueline!
Susan, this is just so darling and purrfect for your family and the new furbabies. I remember when you used the kittie plates previously and I absolutely fell in love with them then. I think I spent almost a year stalking eBay until I finally found 1 set. I ended up using Pier 1’s christmas pups plates for the rest of the my place settings that Christmas since we are both a kitties and pups family. The family loved it. So glad that you found a second set for your table. Have a great weekend!
Oh, I love that idea, combining the Christmas puppies with the cats! What a great idea!
Cutest table ever. I think I have had the kitties represented on the salad plates. I have two gingers, tuxedo, calico and tabby currently. The birds with their mufflers on are cute too. My grandma bought silverware for me at Ralph’s grocery store. I still have most of it. I can remember getting Disney books for the kids at Raley’s. Almost like saving Blue Chip and S&H stamps back in the day and then picking out something.
Oh, I would be in heaven at your house! That is so sweet that you have the same kitties that are on the plates. Love that! I asked my grandson yesterday if he thought I should adopt more cats. I love walking through my house and coming across a random kitty stretched out in a hallway or on a chair. They have added so much joy and life to this house. Oh, I remember saving S&H stamps when we shopped at the Piggly Wiggly. What a great memory! So wonderful that you still have the flatware your grandmother collected!
Susan, Your kittens are adorable. I recently adopted a white kitten. She has peach colored ears, nose, paws, beautiful blue eyes and a beige tiger striped tail!
I love your cat tablescape, so cute. I remember you bought a washing machine sometime in the recent past. Would you please tell me what brand it is? I am having a height issue. ☹️
issue that you had with height.
I know exactly when you first posted these beautiful kitty cat plates, because I immediately jumped on eBay and ordered some for myself. I absolutely love them. I also bought the matching mugs which I use for hot chocolate in the winter. They are still precious to me, thank you for introducing them to me and good to see them in your new dollhouse.
I’m so glad you were able to collect that set, Robin! They do steal your heart! ♥
The Christmas kitty plates are too, too adorable!
Thanks so much, Sabrina!
Awww…love the birdies in the centerpiece tree. A touch of whimsy and sooo cute.
