A Fish Tale for Tablescape Thursday

A Fish Tale:

Cornelia is inviting us back into her beautiful home, and this time she is sharing a fabulous ocean/seafood inspired tablescape. This whimsical table is a delight to view! So, grab a cup of coffee and a yummy scone…or perhaps a hushpuppy would be more in order.   Sit back, relax and enjoy!

Love all the light coming in through the windows…

Lovely chandelier…

Your place is waiting…

Fish plate is ironstone by Wächtersbach…

Cornelia told me the small fish dish is meant for potatoes. They are served in a separate dish as a side order.

Love this seagull plate…it is by Bing & Gröndahl (Danish)…

Cutlery is German and Austrian/Hungarian (k.und k. Monarchie, before 1918)…

The fish fork closest to the plate is Austrian/Hungarian and dates back before the first World War, when Austria was k.und k. (kaiserlich-königlich). Other two forks are silver, also, and come from a German manufacturer…gorgeous!

Upper silver knife is German and the lower one is Austrian/Hungarian…love the detail on these.

Glasses are by Holmegaard (Danish) and the napkins are vintage, Swiss handkerchiefs from the 50’s.

Beautiful flowers from Cornelia’s garden!

Vase by Sarreguemines, pattern “Flore” and the silver underplate is by Jezler…

Wow…just beautiful!

Tablecloth is from IKEA.

The candlesticks are by Royal Copenhagen (Blue Flower)…

This serving piece would be used to hold potatoes…

Do you see the beautiful lilacs in the background?

Lilacs are from Cornelia’s garden…

Beautiful vase is Meissen…

Cornelia, thank-you for inviting us back into your beautiful home.

We loved every moment!

  1. It definitely is lovely, sugar! I don't have enough different china to make it worthwhile to participate but I do love the settings. Where do chicks get all those plates?! I'm truly astounded. I just bought some new Melmac plates because I got tired of lifting so much china all the time. But then I'm an old chick and I'm guessing you all are YOUNG chicks! Hah. Beautiful home though.
    xoxo,
    Connie

  2. Hi Susan! Woo Hoo! I'm the first to get to comment! Oh, I love Cornelia's beautiful home and her table is wonderful! I love those fishy dishes! They are just wonderful and those serving pieces are the cutest things! I'm hoping she'll show us more room of her lovely home!

Sometimes when I visit blogs…and see some of the homes and the decor…it's almost more than my soul can bear…and I am very serious. I have always loved decorating and never really had much until the children were all grown…and still nothing like I see in the photo's. It is just such a joy to see such beauty and perfection in tablescapes and home interiors!
I feel..as though I have found "gold" since I discovered blogging. What fun it has brought into my life, how much I have learned.
BNOTP is one of the most lovely in all blogland. Always a delightful experience!!

How lovely to see a table set with fish knives and forks. I have 3 sets that have come down the family line and use them often…but when we go out to dinner now I rarely see them even though fish is served! Love the whole setting.

How beautiful! Though I must admit I am not a fish fan so using fish as serving pieces makes me a little skweemish (sp?). The entire table is lovely and her flowers are to die for!

  31. Hello sweet Susan – thank you for sharing Cornelia's beautiful fish inspired table! I have never seen anything like her plates and flatware before! Although, as you already know I'm not a pro table scaper or anything so maybe there's more of that out there than I think. I really love it though! So cute. My fave is the gravy boat sitting on top of the shell with the fishy upside down!

    Blessings,

I think the separate fishy dish just for potatoes is the best part.

    That and the flowers.

    And that giant table.

    And the stemware.

I have problems when it comes to making choices. It's the Libra part of me I think. ; )
