We made it through January! Yay! February is officially here, and with just 45 days until the first day of spring, the end of winter sales are getting fired up. While scoping out the sales, I took a peek at some of the upcoming spring fashions, too.
This beautiful sweater caught my eye. I love horses, and I think they are such beautiful animals. If you love a beautiful winter scene, this sweater is currently on sale here: Beautiful Sweater for Horse Lovers.

I love this shirt so much! It perfectly captures a moonlit winter’s night! It would be perfect worn open or buttoned up over a long-sleeve t-shirt. It’s the perfect shirt for curling up with a book in front of the fire. (Shirt is on sale here: Moonlight Forest.)

Speaking of books, I just purchased The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion by Beth Brower. I haven’t started it yet, but I hope to do that this week. It’s the first book in a series that began just a few years back. Have you read any of the books in this series? I hope I like it—I would love to find a good series to get hooked on and enjoy over the rest of winter. (Book is available here: The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion, Vol. 1.)

I do not own a longish winter coat, but this one has me tempted. I love how it fans out, almost like a beautiful dress. It doesn’t look overly bulky, and since it fans out toward the bottom and doesn’t look super restrictive, I think it would be easy to wear while getting in and out of a car. That’s my biggest beef with winter coats, they can’t be restrictive-feeling over my clothing.

This coat is available in several colors, and I like them all! If you could use a longer coat for those colder winter days, you’ll find this one on sale here: Beautiful Quilted Hooded Coat.

Okay, enough of winter, how about a great transition piece‽ I am in love with this adorable embroidered sheep sweatshirt!

Here’s a close-up showing the pretty detail…sooo cute! You’ll find it available here: Embroidered Sweatshirt.

Remember these sneakers that I purchased last year during a ski trip with family in Breckenridge last March?

Here’s a photo of those in better light.

Those are cute, but I think I like these even better! They would go with so many summer outfits, too! Great design for spring and summer! You’ll find them available here: Spring Sneakers.

Adorable socks for spring and Easter!

These are my fave though! Both pairs are available here: Spring Socks.

Happy end-of-winter/spring shopping!

I just bought that book this week. My friend Stacy, who owns our local independent bookstore, says the whole series has been so popular! Love that sheep sweatshirt!
O, those flower socks with those flower sneakers…SPRING IS COMING!!!

Love the sweaters and cute socks
You can never have too many cute socks! Any coat will keep you warm if it has a silk lining. I am with you on bulky coats. Speaking of socks
and shoes. Hindsight is always funnier. It’s been unusually cold here; as in below freezing. I took my socks off one day and went ” My socks stink. Wow. ” Today I put on my rubber garden shoes and there was something in my shoe. When I shook my shoe on the porch, there was a dead lizard in it. What a smell. He must have froze. At least we don’t have those big ones falling out of trees from the cold. How cold is it there Susan? Ice and snow melted?
Love the sweatshirt, sneakers and socks! A series that I just finished is The Cat Who . . by Lilian Jackson Braun. There are 29 books and they are mystery themed with cats that help solve the mysteries. Even my husband got “hooked”. I found all 29 either on ThriftBooks or Amazon. Must reads for cat lovers.
Where is the sheep sweatshirt from, I can’t get it to open. It is so cute.
Connie, does this link work? https://bit.ly/3ZUhzFX
It’s from Coldwater Creek.
Thanks for your quick reply, that link doesn’t open either, I’ll have to ask my husband if he can figure it out. In the meantime I will go to Coldwater Creek. Thanks again! Have a great day!
I love your recommendations and I loved the look of the sneakers and actually bought a pair. Just an FYI that they are the most uncomfortable pair of sneakers I’ve ever put on my feet. I had to return them immediately. The toe box was smaller than normal and the sneaker was not flexible at all. I was so disappointed because they were beautiful.
I was wondering if they were comfortable. Why can’t they make shoes adorable and comfortable at the same time‽ Argh. Thanks for that update, Suzanne…I really wanted to get those, but I think I’ll wait.
I have had a winter jacket from Coldwater Creek for years in the wine color and get so many compliments on the color. It adds a bit of brightness to dull winter. Hope you are feeling better and love the photos of your kitties!
I’ve enjoyed your blog for years but never posted before, but I wanted to say “The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion” were an absolute joy to read! I flew through the 8 existing books during January, and the 9th book (I understand there are 20 books planned) should be out sometime later this year. I thought they were wonderful. Enjoy!
That is so great to hear! I’ve been hoping to find a series that I would love that way. Awesome that there will be 20 in the series! Thanks for letting me know, Sheri!
That journal is so interesting! And that quilted jacket in the green is speaking volumes to me….. And so how are you feeling, Susan? All better and healthy again, I hope?
Much better! Fever, aches and pain are all gone, now just have to get rid of the sinus/head cold stuff that’s left behind. That gets better every day, too. Thanks for asking Michele! Hope you are staying well!
Since you are looking for and addictive book series that is written by a brilliant writer, I recommend the Outlander series. It has EVERYTHING. The books are tomes and you can read for hours and hours. They are about an English 1940’s WWII nurse who is on her second honeymoon in Scotland with her husband whom she has only seen for a few days in five years. Whilst there she finds herself at some standing stones and touches them. They transport her to 18th century Scotland where she meets a dashing highland warrior. It sounds like a fantasy/bodice ripper. It’s not. Time travel is merely an intriguing plot device. Diana Gabaldon thoroughly researches history. She sets her protagonists in a realistic world that teaches so much about life in those times. She raises moral questions, she makes you think. And she makes you fall completely in love with her main characters. The saga covers everything from the Battle of Culloden to the American Revolution. It’s also about an enduring marriage. I’ve never read books that cover the hardship and rewards of marriage through years and years. I’ve never seen love portrayed the way she writes. She doesn’t shy away from intimacy. Sex scenes are explicit and matter of fact but manage not to be salacious. They are simply a part of the relationship. It is a marriage, after all. She says she writes from the experience of her own marriage, which has lasted over 50 years. Diana writes intelligently. There is war, intrigue, loss, politics, adventure, complex characters, moral ambiguity. Beautifully detailed, beautifully written. I have a pretty extensive vocabulary, and I learned some new words! Love that. Obviously, they’re not a quick read. She writes to the more literary minded, rather than to say, those who prefer cosy mysteries, romance novels or lighter reads. I love those, too. But boy, oh boy, are these worth it! My favorite book series ever. BTW, they’re available on Audible. And, there is superb tv series from Sony/Starz (that I get through Amazon) based on the books, the best I’ve ever seen. Yes, I’m gushing. This may not be your cup of tea at all. But there may be some of your followers who might be enticed to enter an absolutely enthralling world.
