Antique Bavarian China in a Beautiful Candlelight Table Setting

Welcome to the 704th Tablescape Thursday! St. Patrick’s Day was a week ago but I couldn’t wait until next year to share a beautiful table setting Warren created and shared with me just a few days ago. Warren put this beautiful table setting together for a recent family gathering.

Warren said, “Recently, eleven members of our family gathered to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day with our traditional buffet dinner of corned beef and cabbage, Irish soda bread, supplemented with spinach balls, fish cakes, and salad.”

“For the occasion, I created a green and gold tablescape set on a black tablecloth with a gold table runner (Homegoods). I chose for the dinner plates, a mixture of very pretty antique Tirschenreuth plates (Ebay) with green bands, gold filagrees, and floral designs. They were placed on bright green chargers (Christmas Tree Shops).

Here’s a closer view of the beautiful, floral dinner plates.

The colors are just so beautiful!

I love the centerpiece Warren and his wife, Kathie, created for this occasion! Notice how it beautifully repeats the stunning floral patterns found in the plates.

Warren said, “For the centerpiece, Kathie and I constructed a bowl of artificial flowers, which resembled the floral pattern in the plates pictured above. We purchased the artificial flowers at a salvage store where they were being sold for pennies on the dollar. We brought home four 18-gallon tubs of flowers.”

“The bowl of flowers was surrounded by three gold-stem hurricane candle holders, which we found for 70% off in the “Back Stage” department at our local Macy’s store.”

The glow of the candlelight is just beautiful!

Warren said, “The green and gold theme was continued with emerald green Cristal D’Arques-Durand water glasses (eBay), gold-rimmed wine glasses from HomeGoods, and faux gold flatware we purchased, many years ago, in Lancaster, PA.”

“Finally, Leprachauns straddling green depression glass bowls of gold coins added a bit of Irish whimsy and completed the connection to Saint Patrick’s Day.”

Whenever Warren and Kathie entertain family and friends, the dinner they prepare always sounds as amazing as the table setting Warren creates. Warren said, “For dessert, we had a moist dense chocolate cake served on Lenox Ming dessert plates, which I found in a local Goodwill store.”

If you are participating in Tablescape Thursday, please be sure to add your permalink below, and not your general blog address. To get your permalink, click on your post name, then copy and paste the address showing in the address bar, into the “url” box when you link up. You’ll need to include a link in your post back to the party to link up and participate.

That’s so visitors to your blog will be able to find the party and the other Tablescape Thursday participants. Requiring a link back also prevents businesses and scammers from linking up to sell their products. (Yep, that really happens, unfortunately.) If you see a post that’s not table-setting related, let me know and I’ll remove it.

Please, don’t add your post name/blog name ALL IN CAPS…it tends to create big spaces between the rows of links. Please link up table setting or table setting related posts only for Tablescape Thursday.

I agree Susan, the colors are beautiful. The green and gold so vibrant and the rose color adds such a pop. His tablescapes are so creative not only in the place settings, but in the theme and fun of the design. Thank you for sharing.

Beautiful, intricate and still fun! I especially enjoy reading all of the “scavenger hunts” over time that contribute to a rich and complex table such as this. I love it when things are part eBay, a smidgeon of HomeGoods, something inherited and some just plain lucky finds! All put together with an eye for what will please and entertain. Bravo!

  11. Another beautiful table and dessert from Warren and Kathie – I love the centerpiece complementing those gorgeous plates! And the description of that dessert has me remembering that cake for breakfast IS a thing, right?! Lovely all around! Thanks to all three of you!
