Delightful Christmas Train Village & Decorating the Living Room for Christmas

Welcome to the 620th Metamorphosis Monday, a blog party sharing fabulous Before and Afters!

A few months back I shared Jackie’s beautiful home all decorated for Halloween. The Halloween decorations are long gone now and Jackie has her home beautifully decorated for Christmas. I love her decorations here in the living room!

Do you see the extra special decoration there in the center of the coffee table? 🙂 Is that not so like a cat? They love, love, love curling up inside baskets. Sooo adorable!

You may remember when I shared Jackie’s home decorated for Halloween a few months back. Jackie and her husband, Chuck, have a delightful train village that also gets decked out for the holidays.

Model Train Village, Halloween Village

The Halloween train village was so much fun to view!

You can see more of Jackie’s home and the train village decorated for Halloween in this previous post: Decorate for a Spooky Halloween Dinner Party: Cobwebs, Catacombs and a Model Train Village.

Halloween Model Train Set

I couldn’t wait to see how Jackie and Chuck decorated the village for Christmas!

Oh, I think I see Santa and his reindeer!

Is that a Christmas parade coming through the village?

Here’s the tree lot where you can pick up your Christmas tree for this year.

Love the little string lights lighting up the village. Jackie has the lights on timers so they automatically come on at dusk. Just imagine how magical it must be at nighttime!

Ha! This reminds me of the little campfire scene in one of my Dept. 56 villages. Sooo cute!

Have you ever been ice skating? I used to roller skate at a local roller skating rink when I was growing up. I was never very good at it so I can just imagine how I’d look trying to ice skate!

Thanks so much to Jackie for sharing her beautiful living room and train village transformed for Christmas! I’m looking forward to sharing more of Jackie’s beautiful home decorated for the holidays over the next week!

Looking forward to all the wonderful Before and Afters linked for this week’s Met Monday!

Metamorphosis Monday

Metamorphosis Monday is a party that’s all about Before and Afters. Please link up your Before and After projects like DIY projects, room makeovers, craft projects even recipes. Any Before and After is great! Please do not link up Table Settings, save those for our Tablescape Thursday party on Thursday.

If you are participating in Met Monday, please link up using the “permalink” to your MM post and not your general blog address. To get your permalink, click on your post name, then just copy and paste the address that shows up in the address bar at the top of your blog, into the “url” box for InLinkz when prompted.

In order to link up, you’ll need to include a link in your MM post back to the party so the other participants will have an opportunity to receive visits from your wonderful blog readers.

Update: Please do not link up table settings/tablescapes for Metamorphosis Monday. Please save those for our Tablescape Thursday party on Thursdays. Recipes are fine because that’s definitely a “Before and After” but please save your beautiful table settings for Tablescape Thursday. Pretty vignettes (transformations) you’ve created on atop a chest or somewhere in your home are great for our Before and After party, but let’s save the actual table settings for Tablescape Thursday.

Brings back so many memories of the village I used to put up every year but due to space limitations, I am no longer able to do so. I’d love to give you ice skating lessons as I am a figure skating coach…maybe one day?

  3. Thanks for another great party Susan. Hope you are enjoying the season.

    XO- MaryJo

  4. That village is so darling!! I love the lights too. We used to have a friend with a train room and my brother and I loved popping up in the middle to be surrounded by trains! What a fun thing to decorate it for the holidays! Thanks to you and Jackie for the trip down memory lane!

Thank you Barbara for your nice comments. Yes the train set is so fun. I wonder if I will ever get back that space 🙂 It is super fun to gather around especially during the holidays. Have a wonderful Holiday Season!

  5. Incredible fun! Thanks Susan!

  6. Great train display!!! Do you remember the one we had in the last house? THIS house Joe wanted because of the bIG bonus room over the garage for the trains. He started when we first moved in but got burnt out and hasn’t been back to it. It sits half finished…not even half. It makes me carzy:):) I hope you have a wonderful Christmas, Susan and are able to enjoy your grands. I am very sad that Joe and I will be alone for the first time EVER this year. XO

Hi Pinky, Joe should pick it up again! It is so much fun. My husband and I have had many fun hours running it. Happy Holidays.
      Jackie

  7. Cute. My mm used to put a train set around the tree.

  8. Susan, Thanks for hosting. Fun to see the train set up. As a child, we had one set up on the sunporch. Also fun to watch! Stop by for a cookie!

  9. Who can resist a Christmas train setup? And I totally missed the cat until you mentioned it.

    • Jackie Allen says

      Thank you Mia,
Yes trains are especially fun at Christmas time. Of course my cat Gizmo always likes to be in the middle of it all! Happy Holidays!
      Jackie

  10. ‘Have you ever been ice skating?’ Lol. Spoken like a true southern girl. 😀 (and yes I have)

    • 🙂 The only ice skating rink in my area is inside a building and I think it closed a few years back.

    • Jackie Allen says

      Hi Pam,
I used to go ice skating every weekend. I grew up on Long Island, New York and that is what the kids would do on a Friday night. The best was the hot chocolate with whipped cream and also if the boy you liked asked you to skate. Fond Memories. Happy Holidays!
      Jackie

  11. Love the village!!
Thanks so much for hosting each week!! I know how much time it takes so it is greatly appreciated! Stay safe, healthy and happy!!

    • Jackie Allen says

      Hello CoCo,
Yes the train is so fun. I can’t believe we are now a week away from Christmas. Hmm may have to add a New Year’s Ball drop in the village!
      Happy Holidays!
      Jackie

The Train set / village is awesome. What a labor of love and one the grandkids enjoy I’m sure and will lovingly always remember. Yes, growing up we roller skated and ice skated. My ice skates are on my front porch, sitting by the front door, decorated with faux red berries and faux pinecones coming out of them. They bring back fond memories.
