Welcome to the 819th Metamorphosis Monday! Whenever I’m at the Dollhouse, there are always a lot of Before and Afters to share. If things go as planned this week, I’ll soon be sharing how the dining set I ordered looks in the dining room. One update I made recently for the Dollhouse dining room was adding silk-wrapped bulbs to the dining room chandelier. Here’s how those style bulbs look in the dining room back in Georgia.
A closer view…
I love that style bulb so much, I’ve used it in three chandeliers in the Georgia house, including the chandelier here in my bedroom that was a find in the antique shoppe, Queen of Hearts, many years ago.
If your chandelier(s) could use a pretty update, you’ll find these silk-wrapped bulbs here: Silk-wrapped Bulbs.
Another beautiful Before/After in the Dollhouse dining room this month was adding barstools to this eat-in bar here in the kitchen. It took a long time to find the exact one I wanted!! You’ll find these stools available here: Counter-Height Bar Stool in 3 Heights and 5 Colors. (See more photos of their textured leather-like seat in this post: Finally Tracked Them Down!.
Another recent update was retiring the flag that had hung on the front of the Dollhouse for quite a few years, replacing it with a new one. It was looking dirty and worn and made me sad to see it in that condition. I also replaced the flagpole with one that has spinner attachments so the flag won’t repeatedly wrap around the pole when we have strong winds. You’ll find the beautiful, star-embroidered flag I chose here: American Flag. The flagpole is available here: Flagpole with Spinners.
Another favorite purchase during the month of September was a furniture lifter that I used to remove these little brown tabs from the bun feet of the desk in my office. I didn’t remove the bun feet, just the brown thingies that were underneath the feet that were making the desk a little higher than it had to be.
If you have furniture around your home that you could use help in lifting to place floor protectors underneath, or to remove something as I did, you’ll find this brilliant, easy-to-use furniture lifter here: Furniture Lifter.
Not a Before/After, but had to mention these Blackwatch flannel lounge pants that I ordered in September. I ordered these last month before heading north to the Dollhouse so I’d be ready if the weather turned chilly. I’ve worn them several times already, so glad I had them for this trip. I love these for lounging around the house during the fall and winter, especially when paired with this hefty, long-sleeve cotton tee, my favorite warm hoodie, my favorite Merino wool socks, and my favorite Ugg Slippers. This is pretty much my hang-out-at-home wardrobe during the wintertime. Note: I buy the men’s tees (size small) because I like them a bit oversized for winter, and I buy the hoodies a size or two up, as well. It’s all about comfort and warmth come wintertime! Thinking about these favorites has me almost looking forward to winter, which is a miracle! Ha! You’ll find these flannel lounge pants available here: Blackwatch Plaid Flannel Pants.
On my wish list: I have three items right now that I’m thinking about ordering. One is this awesome-looking, French-door, convection toaster oven that is also an air fryer. I had no idea that it was possible to buy an air fryer that’s also a toaster oven.
Back home in Georiga, I have a Maytag stove/oven that is a double oven with a small oven on top that is as wide as a normal oven, and a large, full-size oven on the bottom. That stove has spoiled me because whenever I want to bake bread or cook a pizza, the top oven heats up super fast, I mean really, really fast! I’d forgotten how long full-size ovens take to preheat until I moved into the Dollhouse. The Dollhouse oven takes forever, like 15 minutes or so, and it feels like the biggest waste of electricity to heat an oven that big just to bake a few rolls or biscuits. So, I started shopping for a toaster oven and that’s when I discovered they are now available as air fryers, too! Did you know this? This one has outstanding reviews so it’s the one I’m eyeing. It’s currently on sale for 21% off here: Air Fryer, Convection Toaster Oven with French Doors. Do you have a toaster oven/air fryer combo? I love the French doors on this one!
Pizza Scissors is another item I’ve had on my wish list for a while. Funny story, I often use my kitchen shears to cut pizza since I find it easier than using a wheel-style cutter. The first time my grandsons saw me do that, I think they thought I’d lost my mind. Hahaha! Then one day I was watching a YouTube video where the YouTuber was traveling in Europe (I think France) with friends. They stopped for dinner in an Italian restaurant and when the waiter served a pizza, he used scissors to cut the slices! What?! That’s when I learned that they actually make pizza scissors! These have been on my wish list for a while, so I think it’s time I purchased some. They are available here: Pizza Scissors. Have you ever used Pizza Scissors for cutting up a pizza?
The third and final item that’s currently on my wish list is a pair of Ugg Tasman Slippers in this rich brown color. I have these in the lighter “Chestnut Brown” color and a pretty olive green color, and I live in them during the fall and winter months! I would love to add this Burnt Cedar color sometime this winter. These also make great Christmas gifts! They have become my and my daughter-in-law’s favorite slippers for all year round, but they are especially cozy on cold winter mornings. They also wear and hold up better than our 2nd favorite slipper from L.L. Bean. You’ll find these slippers available in a bunch of different colors here: Ugg Tasman Slippers.
I’m having plantation shutters installed in two rooms here in the Dollhouse today. I’m looking forward to sharing those updates soon! Looking forward to all the wonderful Before and Afters linked for this week’s Met Monday! Pssst: Did you know Between Naps On The Porch is on Instagram? Pizza scissors sure got my attention!
lol I need those!
Yes, me too the idea of scissors sounded odd, but now sure sounds like a great idea. I have always had issues with trying to use the pizza wheel.
If you get that toaster oven, I would appreciate a review. I currently have a Cuisinart brand air fryer/toaster oven combination. I’ve had it for about three years now, and I am completely unimpressed with the air fryer part of it. I really would like to replace it with something better.
Wow, I had no idea they have been making these for so long. The reviews on this one look good. If I order it, Pattie, I will let you know what I think.
Great! I’ve read good views on it as well, but you never know.
You had an air fryer with 2 baskets that you liked before. have you changed your mind about the one you were using?
No, I still like the two that I have, that’s what I currently have and am using in my kitchen here and in Georgia. But if I’m going to buy a toaster oven for the Dollhouse, I’m thinking that I might as well buy one of the combo units that is also an air fryer.
Those pizza scissors are a great find! Thanks Susan~
Haha – I should have known you’d go for the same thing I did! Pizza Rules!! Happy Monday, Jenna!
I bought a Ninja 12 in 1 double oven for myself last Christmas. I love it. It is a toaster oven, convection oven, broiler, air fryer, regular oven, I don’t even know what else since it is so much smarter than I am. There are two ovens so I can cook a main and side at the same time. You can even program it so they are ready at the same time. The air fryer is fabulous and the oven included two metal baking sheets, the fryer basket and a metal liner to use with the basket to catch crumbs. It is just slightly too small for a 9 x13 baking dish, but we are only two people so it works fine for us with a 9 x 9. I have used it for almost a year now (barely use the regular oven at all) and am still in love with it. It is BIG but I was able to eliminate the toaster oven and air fryer to make room.
Oh, I love the sound of that. That’s the brand air fryer that I currently have and I’ve been really happy with it. I will check that one out, Merry, thanks for recommending it!
Is it just me or does the link for the flag take everyone else to the flannel pants too?
Sorry about that, Theresa, here’s the correct link: https://amzn.to/4dzmkcx .
Thanks for letting me know that one wasn’t working.
I love the pizza scissors. Loving antique silverware and it’s many pieces for everything imaginable, my grape scissors literally fell apart.
One of my friends bought the air fryer with double doors and loves it. Aren’t modern appliances great ? Soon they will come with the robot to use them for us ! Please pray for not only the victims of Hurricane Helene but the one headed straight for FL. It’s a cat 5 now.
I have a Breville Smart Oven Air. I’ve never had a small air fryer so I don’t know how they compare. I think the smaller ones are supposed to make the food crunchier than the bigger ovens like mine, but I use mine all the time. I don’t use my full size oven hardly at all anymore. I like the big size for making a lot of French fries in one batch, which is why I didn’t buy a smaller air fryer.
Ooooooh – PIZZA SCISSORS!! Pizza is my love language! (Or one of them!) Another great collection of useful and beautiful things, Susan. Thanks so much for doing our research – and for hosting the party, of course! Hope you have a lovely week and that your dining set arrives right on schedule!
Thanks so much for hosting this wonderful party!! I really appreciate the time and effort that goes into it along with visiting all the links!! I hope you are having a great week!!
Hugs,
Deb

Susan, I have some tried and true things I wear here in MN in the cold weather….(I believe I have already written that we actually hit -37 on our ‘at home’ thermometer one winter). So, I really appreciate warm clothes! Barefoot Dreams heavy weight tops. I don’t see them in a lot of stores, but found 2 on QVC years ago. They are heavy and quite warm!!! And Barefoot Dreams joggers in the sweater material (not cotton). And their socks to sleep in, too. For snuggling in front of the tv, I have a HUGE Comfy (the oversized sherpa lined hoodie), and I toss it in the dryer first. BLISS!! I have puffer everything as far as outerwear (vests, jackets, both long and short) and even a puffer scarf which I LOVE!!! It is SO warm. Joan of Artic Sorel boots with sock liners and heat retaining socks. OK, that is an overload of info, but take it from someone who goes out birding in -25 weather…..I’m kind of good at dressing for winter! 🙂
Wow, I didn’t know -37 was even possible! I can’t even imagine what that is like! So many great suggestions! Thanks for all of these, Rosie!
Forgot to mention, some of the best stores for cold weather gear (imho) are Duluth Trading and REI. I guess you kind of get used to the cold especially when it is not windy and it is sunny. I have seen Minnesotans running around in shorts if it is above 15 degrees! LOL My husband regularly worked in Canada where they would walk between buildings at 30 below with no coats on…IF it was sunny and calm. But you will probably not face any of that in Ohio! Still, it is good to be prepared to be warm when you don’t like the cold. What’s the old saying??? ‘There is no bad weather, just bad clothing’. 🙂 Have fun shopping for new favorites!
Love the updates! My son has that toaster oven. It is great but very large. He kept it on a cart and just moved it to his basement. He doesn’t have a large kitchen. We have a smaller Cuisinart toaster oven/air fryer that we use daily. It’s larger than the old one we had but not as big as the one French doors. I; loving my lounge pants and hoodies on these chilly mornings.
Pizza scissors – who knew ? You did ! I have been using a pizza cutter and then my kitchen shears, but now I know!!! Thanks !
