I’m An Airbus Beluga, Awaiting Clearance To Land!

Welcome to the 819th Tablescape Thursday, and welcome to my holding pattern. I'm a big ole 747 Freighter circling around and around the airport. Or, maybe I'm an Airbus Beluga XL (love how those look!) circling and circling patiently (or, not so patiently) for clearance to land.   Well, at least that's how it feels. Everywhere I look here in my son/DIL's guest bedroom, I'm surrounded by boxes, really big boxes. I've been buying a few things—things … [Continue Reading...]

A Very Special Mother’s Day Gift

Commissioned Painting of Home, Wintertime

Last year for Christmas, my sweet, thoughtful daughter-in-love, Nancy, gave me a beautiful painting of my home that she had commissioned from a local artist. At the time, neither of us knew I would possibly be moving to Ohio the following year.   Though I haven't yet chosen a frame for it, the painting has been hanging on the wall in my living room, and I love seeing it there whenever I'm in that room or walking through on my way upstairs. I'm not at … [Continue Reading...]

Let’s Tour the Basement, Bedrooms, Baths and Gardens In The Home I Just Purchased

Beautiful Room Over Garage

Welcome to the 801st Metamorphosis Monday! When I last left you on Saturday, we had just taken a tour of the downstairs part of the home that I recently purchased. If you missed that post, you'll find it here: Not Going To Make You Wait—Let's Go Inside The Home I Just Bought.   Before we head upstairs, let's go downstairs and check out the basement.   You may remember from my previous post about this home that it was built in 1938. The … [Continue Reading...]

Not Going To Make You Wait—Let’s Go Inside The Home I Just Bought

Entry Foyer, Beautiful Wood Door

The closing on the house went great yesterday—no hiccups. There were 5 of us present at the closing: the title agency representative (not sure of her exact title), the seller, the seller's realtor, my realtor, and of course, yours truly. The representative leading the closing sat at the head of the big conference table with the seller to her left and the buyer (me) to her right. Our realtors sat beside us, listening and answering questions, as needed. The closing … [Continue Reading...]

Celebrating a Special 21st Birthday with a Crab and Shrimp Boil

Welcome to the 818th Tablescape Thursday! Thanks so much for all the encouraging and supportive comments that you left on yesterday's post. I am so looking forward to taking you along on this new adventure! A few weeks back I heard from Sheri who said, "Our granddaughter had her 21st birthday yesterday, and we celebrated Sunday with a Crab and Shrimp Boil...her choice. We always let the birthday person choose what they want for their special … [Continue Reading...]

Exciting (And Just A Little Scary) News

Remember this adorable cottage playhouse—the one I've had a crush on for so many years? I've always loved its design and imagined how wonderful it would be if it were built to grownup size. Well, about a month ago I made an offer on an adorable cottage, and my offer was accepted. Yikes! It doesn't look exactly like this cute cottage, but it does share some similar characteristics. I'm truly in love with it and can't wait to share more of it with … [Continue Reading...]

Sharing My Daughter-in-Law’s Favorite Beauty-Care Secrets For Our 800th Metamorphosis Monday!

Welcome to the 800th Metamorphosis Monday! Last month, I shared my favorite "beauty/care" products in a single post. Since I've been away visiting family this week, I thought this would be a great time to get the skinny on what products my daughter-in-law, Nancy, likes and recommends. She is much more conscientious about how she cares for her skin than I am. I tend to be a little lazy about those things. I asked Nancy for a list of her favorite beauty/body care … [Continue Reading...]

A Horse-Themed Table Setting In Honor Of The 2024 Belmont Stakes Racing Festival

Welcome to the 817th Tablescape Thursday! When Elena emailed to share a special table she created for an upcoming event, I could not wait to share it with you. It's a "theme" that I've never featured before for a Tablescape Thursday. Elena said, "I think you know we live in Saratoga Springs, NY home of Health, History and Horses. Health is for the baths and our famous mineral waters, History from the beginning of our country and the battle of Saratoga, the turning … [Continue Reading...]

Summer Favorites & An Outdoor Dining Set I’m Considering Ordering Again

Spring is here and that first day of summer is just a few weeks away! Love this time of year so much! When spring comes around, I always pull out my favorite summer pillows for the porch. The ones below are from Ikea, many years ago.   A few years back, I purchased pillow inserts. I got that idea from you guys since it's a great way to save on storage space—just swapping out the cases instead of having to store a bunch of different pillows for each … [Continue Reading...]

How To Save Your Favorite Jacket When It’s Ruined From Color Bleed In The Wash

Welcome to the 799th Metamorphosis Monday! Have you ever had a favorite top or outfit ruined due to color bleed in the wash? My friend, Teresa, loves to travel, and one of her favorite jackets that she often takes along when she travels is a Tommy Bahama jacket in a nice neutral color. Having just returned from a trip, her hubby, Frank, was trying to be helpful by washing some of the clothes they wore during their travels. Unfortunately, he accidentally put some … [Continue Reading...]
