Winter Table: Blue Madrid Depression Glass, Earl Grey Tea Cake & London Fog Latte

Welcome to the 647th Tablescape Thursday, a blog party sharing beautiful table settings for all occasions!

Recently Phyllis, a BNOTP reader, had her cousins over for a lovely dinner. I was so excited when she shared these beautiful photos from that event and knew I had to share them for an upcoming Tablescape Thursday.

Blue Madrid by Federal Glass Petal, Depression Glass

Phyllis said, “It’s very much winter here in Michigan with snowflakes and icicles so that my tablescape inspiration.”

For her centerpiece, Phyllis used a beautiful she recently found while shopping Hobby Lobby. Not the pretty beading Phyllis placed around the lower part of the candle…love that touch! I wonder if that’s a beaded bracelet. I love that!

Beautiful White Lantern

For this dinner with family, Phyllis used her beautiful Blue Madrid Depression Glass dinnerware by Federal Glass Petal.

Phyllis wasn’t sure of the maker of the glassware saying, “I don’t know who the water goblets were made by. When I purchased the Madrid dishes at an antique store, the goblets were part of the purchase.”

Love the pretty snowflake napkins, perfect for this snowy-themed tablescape. Phyllis said, “I used mirror placemats because the reflections of the dishes enhanced the snowy/wintry feeling I was trying to achieve.”

Phyllis described the lovely meal she planned and served: “I began the luncheon with Minnesota Wild Rice Soup served with corn madeleines. Dessert was an Earl Grey Tea Cake served with a London Fog Latte. The main course was ham, broccoli, and mushroom quiche with a mixed greens salad. I placed a little blue mesh bag of Dove chocolates at each place setting for the guests to take home.”

Wow, that sounds sooo delicious! What a great menu for a cold winter’s day!

Have you ever had Earl Grey Tea Cake? I have not but it looks delicious!

Phyllis said, “The cake was an Earl Grey Tea Cake, a new recipe from the New York Times. It seemed only fitting that I should serve it with a London Fog Latte.”

Thanks so much to Phyllis for sharing this wonderful snowy, winter table setting for this week’s Tablescape Thursday! Such a treat to see that scrumptious dessert, as well! You can see more of Phyllis’s beautiful tables at her blog, The Relevant Tea Leaf.

Looking forward to all the wonderful table settings linked for this week’s Tablescape Thursday!

If you are participating in Tablescape Thursday, please be sure to add your permalink below, and not your general blog address. To get your permalink, click on your post name, then copy and paste the address showing in the address bar, into the “url” box when you link up. You’ll need to include a link in your post back to the party to link up and participate.

That’s so visitors to your blog will be able to find the party and the other Tablescape Thursday participants. Requiring a link back also prevents businesses and scammers from linking up to sell their products. (Yep, that really happens, unfortunately.) If you see a post that’s not table setting related, let me know and I’ll remove it.

Please, don’t add your post name/blog name ALL IN CAPS…it tends to create big spaces between the rows of links.

It’s also nice to see someone else from eastern Nebraska in the group! Even it it’s not in the negative double digits (-23 here in Omaha, NE Tues), that Minnesota Wild Rice Soup sounds delicious!

  10. That blue Madrid plate stack is beautiful. I have similar but in the more common yellow color. Wish I had the opportunity to locate blue like that!

  11. Michele / Finch Rest says

Very pretty table, well done. The blue dishes are lovely. The food sounds delicious, would love the soup recipe. Phyllis has captured a winter wonderland. Yes, it’s snowing again here in the thumb of Michigan and I took a late evening walk around our long driveway while the snow floated down. The driveway lights cast just enough light to show a glittery, sparking glaze on the snow. A snow globe world for sure.

  15. Phyllis, I have collected glass for a long time, but never seen the Blue Madrid depression glass before. Wow. A full set ! I don’t know if I would have let anyone eat off of them. LOL Thank you for sharing with us.

  16. Oh, my gosh! Such a lovely table! Now I want to look for blue depression glass! Your guest has such beautiful taste, and it is all just so beautiful!

  19. My first thought was icy blue so Phyllis achieved her motivation! Everything is so pretty and thoughtfully placed on the table. Particularly like the snowflakes used in the napkins, the cup doily, and the plates. What fun the dinner must have been from start to finish, especially the cake and latte in the beautiful cups.

  20. I love the blue dishes don’t have any blue, but I do have the small clear plates. I would love to know anything about the clear plates. I got these from my mother-in-law and have never seen them anywhere else. What a beautiful table she set!

  21. Thank you so much for hosting! This week I am excited to share my prairie style living room, a late winter tablescape and my cherry chocolate pretzel ice cream cake recipe! Hope you have an awesome week!
