Craving Cozy for This Week’s Tablescape Thursday

Welcome to the 693rd Tablescape Thursday!

On a cold, dreary winter day, my mind craves cozy. I dream of warm throws in rich, jewel tones, mixed with beautiful winter plaids. A cozy cabin in the woods or the mountains would be really nice, too. Inside we would find a hot, crackling fire burning away in the big, rock fireplace.

Table Setting in Jewel Tones for Winter

I wanted to set a table with a candlelight centerpiece for that cozy cabin I was envisioning in my mind, but it was still a bit too daylight out for that.

So these sweet deer that you’ve so often seen me use in the center of tables before had to fill in as our centerpiece at the start.

Winter Dining, Jewel Tones

I found these guys in Lowe’s one Christmas quite a few years back.

There’s our cabin in the woods and, look! There’s already a nice hot fire crackling away in the stone fireplace inside!

David Carter Brown Dinnerware, Northwoods

I really love this David Carter Brown pattern called, Northwoods.

Woodland Fishing Scene, Northwoods Salad Plate

It works well in a cozy winter table but would also be great for a Father’s Day table. Really, anyone who enjoys the outdoors would love the beautiful scenes depicted on these plates.

Whenever I see this particular plate, it reminds me of my stay at Ballynahinch Castle in Connemara, Galway, Ireland.

This was the view out my bedroom window. Flyfishing is a favorite pastime for many who visit Ballynahinch.

I brought out my vintage antler flatware purchased many, many years ago on eBay. The special storage box for this flatware shows that it was made in Sheffield, England.

Northwoods Woodsy Salad Plates, David Carter Brown

I love using these bark-edged, real wood chargers in woodsy table settings. I wish I had bought them many years ago because they have become a favorite! They are still available here: Bark-edged Wood Chargers.

Napkins are a mixture of paisley and velvet-trimmed linen. The paisley napkins are Ralph Lauren and I’ve had them so long, I don’t remember where I found them–most likely HomeGoods, Marshalls, or perhaps Tuesday Morning. The velvet-trimmed linen napkins were a find in Pier 1 back in the day. The deer napkin rings were a gift from a friend several years back.

Dark out now so I removed one of our deer and added a favorite votive holder from Colonial Candle to our centerpiece.

Candlelight Dining for Winter

Candlelight dining is the best, isn’t it? I love it so much!

You could also add a bit of greenery around the base in a table setting like this. I love fresh greenery in a centerpiece.

Hope you are staying warm and cozy this chilly, January day!

That’s so visitors to your blog will be able to find the party and the other Tablescape Thursday participants. Requiring a link back also prevents businesses and scammers from linking up to sell their products. (Yep, that really happens, unfortunately.) Please, don’t add your post name/blog name ALL IN CAPS…it tends to create big spaces between the rows of links. Please link up table setting or table setting related posts only for Tablescape Thursday.

It is a very cozy tablescape – makes me want to warm up by the fire and have some hot soup! 32 degrees here in Texas this morning – I guess we are all getting a cold snap. Thank you for sharing – I love the candle lit photo!

We have a lot of snow here in Nashville, so your table is especially snuggly to see! The Target Wood Slices are sold out, but this company down in Newnan (where I lived for 8 years, has reasonably priced ones, and shipping is free. They’re not related to me, nor am I on the payroll. It’s just nice to see a young family making pretty things. https://woodslices.com/ And how ofter do you see free shipping?!

  3. It’s a good day for cozy where I am. It’s snowing like mad! I think I’ll get a fire going in the kitchen fireplace. Then maybe do some reading and curl up all snuggly with my amazing new afghans. Ohh … that sounds like heaven.

*Sigh* as it should be!! Our cabin just got “snow bombed”…hundreds upon hundreds of trees down…power lines snapped like fire crackling…4 in of ice, then 11 in of wet snow…our side lost. Your tablescape was a comfort! franki ps our buildings are ok…

    • I’m curious! Where do you live? Here in Indiana it is so windy the wind chills are bringing it down to – 4 to -9 the next couple of days!

      • franki Parde says

Hah!! Central VIRGINIA!! This wasn’t “what they advertised”… Just a “rough spell” but…this one is going to take…years…to recover…it’s “what we do”… I’d luv to visit Canada…think by train…wish lust!!! fmp

    • Wow, Franki! That is wild! I hope none of those trees landed on or near your cabin. I hope you see some warmer weather so all that melts!

  5. 19° last night in Ohio, we’ve been pretty warm lately as I’m sure you’ve heard from your son. We are in for a cold snap. I love the feel I get from your woodland tablescape. I have some antler flatware like yours, just steak knives though. I always loved them but never thought about any matching pieces. I bought them at a little country department store as least fifty years ago. Aldi had those wooden chargers but they seemed so heavy to me and I don’t think they were as big. I have a garland with a lot of approximately 3″ antlers on it. I don’t have any large deer but I have a set of Breyer woodland animals. This is all giving me ideas for my snowman dishes. I’m sure you could do something wonderful with it. I’ll try.

  6. Love this table Susan! So unique and loaded with details perfect for the theme. Love the lantern, deer pair, linens, plates, etc. A special, cozy setting to enjoy.

  7. This tablescape is lovely. Love those dishes.
    Marilyn

  8. Your table is so cozy! Needs some chili, a cheese tray, and cornbread!!

  9. What a charming cozy table! I love the candlelight, and that’s a beautiful votive holder for the tea lights – perfect for our gloomy day too! Your description of the cabin takes me right there! 🙂 Thanks for the wonderful inspiration, as always, and Happy first week of the new year!

  10. Hi Susan! I just love your sweet table – the deer and those dishes! I’m so happy to be able to join your party today. I pray you had a nice Christmas!
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia 😉

  11. Hi Susan, it is a brisk -7 right now, (near Minneapolis) and heading to about -23 tonite. We hiked looking for birds a few days ago at -8…if you dress right, it really isn’t too bad! I joke with my hubby that we cannot move, we have too much money tied up in winter clothing! 🙂 Stay warm!!….Love the table set for a cozy winter meal! Soup tonite for us (turkey and wild rice)…our favorite winter dinner!

  12. Beautifully cozy tablescape Susan! Love love those reindeer, and of course, anything DCB is gorgeous. Love the throw as well. Its absolutely frigid here in Calgary – current temp is -26. Brrr. Hope your temps are better there!
Stay warm and cozy and Happy New Year!

  13. Cyndi Raines says

Lovely table and yes so very cozy. There is that- a good side to winter, a good book, a warm cozy spot to read with a cushy throw, a nice cup of hot tea and a crackling fire! A good puzzle or a logo awesome house to put together, hehe! Really love the antler flatware, the wooden chargers and the beautiful colonial candle votive holder, so very pretty.

  14. Teresa Pasquariello says

Love the votives in the lantern. Did you set that up yourself or did you add the votives to it? I like the different levels of the candles and the candlelight is cozy like a fireplace.

  15. Beautiful table setting Susan, it is indeed very cozy and warm feeling. Loving all the attention to detail too. Those stag are so beautiful as are those plates. Really love those plates. The napkin rings, the chargers, napkins, silverware, the blanket…all so beautiful. Hugs, Brenda

  16. What a beautiful, warm, creative and cozy table! I just love it!
