A Living Room Table: Great for Reading, Working or a Casual Dinner

Welcome to the 511th Tablescape Thursday!

Marie always sets several tables when entertaining for the holidays. One of my favorite tables in her home is the one she usually sets in her living area in case additional seats are needed. This room is nice and large, so it easily accommodates a large table for reading, working or dining.

Living Room Decorated for 4th of July

Since this table is also used for other activities throughout the week, you’ll notice lamps, books, magazines and other goodies in the background. I love this idea–having a table in the living room!

But today is Tablescape Thursday so I need to make myself focus on the table setting. Love the wine glasses Marie used in this setting, so festive with fireworks for a 4th of July celebration! The napkin “rings” are red, white and blue ribbon adorned with colorful red, white and blue bells. This would be a fun and easy napkin ring to re-create for almost any type table setting.

The napkin rings also tie in beautifully with the chair back decorations. Love, love, love Marie’s embroidered monogrammed chairs!

Of course, the star of each place setting in this tablescape is Uncle Sam.

He’s even riding his old-timey bike across the table in the background. So fun! If you would like to see more of Marie’s 4th of July tree visible there in the background, check out this previous post for some detailed, up-close photos: Tour this Beautiful Home Decorated for the 4th of July Marie decorates the tree here in the living room for each holiday until Christmas comes around when it’s replaced with a live tree for Christmas.

Thanks so much to Marie for opening her home to us and sharing all of her wonderful 4th of July holiday decor! It has been a joy for me to share it with you this year!

  1. Marie always goes over the top when she decorates! Where does she keep all her stuff??? Thanks for the fun Susan!

    • I have the same question. Where to put all the “stuff” Living in Florida there are no basements, attics are out of the question and a garage can hold only so much. Unless, you can do what Susan has done in her garage, so nicely organized and lots of room. I would love to see a post on how to store your holiday decorations.

  2. Thanks so much for hosting another week of tablescape fun! Have a wonderful weekend!

  3. I really enjoy seeing pictures of Marie’s lovely home and all the seasonal decor she uses. My question would be, how many people does Marie hire to help with all the decorations?

  4. Great ideas from Marie. I could make the napkin rings and I love using the removable hooks on the back of chairs to decorate.

  5. sandra D Joliet says

I’ve always loved seeing a table behind a sofa. Marie is so inspiring. Have a great day

  6. A great idea the table in the living area, if there is space.
I too have a marble French table that is in the foyer, flanked by the living room and dining room, therefore, when I have many guests, I set it for six more guests.
    Thank you for hosting Susan.

  7. Mary from Virginia says

Marie has it all! Such an exciting table setting! I’d like to visit Marie’s closets I know I would have such a great time seeing all her treasures.

  8. LOVE the red, white and blue bells on the back of the chairs and also on the napkin rings…could use that same idea for many special occasions. Thanks!

  9. Marie has outdone herself again! If she ever has a tag sale, maybe you could have a drawing as to who wins you being our personal shopper, lol. I’m sure we can all come up with a list of things we’d buy from her stash!
Thanks for hosting and feeding our table fetish, Susan. 😉

  10. Love the backs of those chairs! WHAT AN AWESOME IDEA! Loving the red, white and blue. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  11. Wonderful patriotic theme – well done as always. Does anyone know where I can buy the “Uncle Sam,s?”

I'd love to hear from you! Please leave a comment!
