A New Year’s Table Setting with Pottery Barn Clock Plates

Welcome to the 227th Tablescape Thursday!

My friend, Bonnie, rang in the New Year with a wonderful dinner party.  Bonnie said, “The day started out on a beautiful note…. with snow!”   What a gorgeous view!

Beautiful Snow Scene in the Mountains

Let’s go inside where it’s nice and warm.  The table is all ready, even the chandelier is decorated for this celebration.  And look!  It’s the Blue Hour!

Bonnie’s dining room is so beautiful silhouetted against that Blue Hour sky.  You can read more about the Blue Hour in this post: The Secret of the Blue Hour

Bonnie decorated the chandelier with party streamers and a little clock.  Do you see the clock hanging from the bottom of the chandelier?

Remember the Pottery Barn clock plates we fell in love with in this picture from Bonnie’s New Year’s table last year?   (Table can be viewed here: Elegant New Year’s Eve Table Setting)

Well this year, Pottery Barn had them in black.  I saw them on the PB site this year but I’m still yearning for the original cream plates.   Still hoping PB will bring those back one year.  Do you think they are listening? 😉

The black clock plates are gorgeous in this setting with the black chargers.

Beautiful stemware!  Notice the clock place card holders…so perfect for a New Year’s table setting.

Love the bow tie napkin “rings.”    Bow ties would be great for any table where you wish to add a little romance and elegance.

    using Google Chrome! Yeah!

  14. Happy new year Susan. The blue hour is so dramatic. Those clock plates are darling. I also love the cream ones. Bonnie’s home is lovely and warm. I especially love the dressing of the chandy…..Gorgeous way to start the new year.

  15. Loved your post Susan. My friend Phyllis (AroundrHourse)got me hooked on blogging. I read yours every week but never commented on them – now I know how, but I have followed you for years. Thank you for all the wonderful blog you have done and I look forward to seeing more.
    Thanks you much, Mary

  16. I Love It!!!! So elegant! I like all the little clocks scattered around the table and my own heart clock nearly stopped when I thought a spied a spider on the table, but it was a black coil!! 🙂
The black clock plates teamed with gold and then black, looks stunning. Cute idea for the bow tie napkin rings.

  17. Spectacular setting for a really special evening! Please thank Bonnie for allowing us to see all her beautiful items & the ways she so artfully arranged them. Truly inspirational!
Thanks for continuing to host TT for so many years, Susan. Its nice to be back to play with the gang. I didn’t have a specific tablescape to link to today but I did a recap of my year. I hope that is okay. There ARE some dishes & tables & food in the post, so I hope it qualifies. If not, feel free to delete it & I will understand fully.

    Hugs,
    Rett

  18. Thanks, dear friend, for sharing my table and for hosting TT every week. You’re an inspiration to us all with your beautiful blog! Thanks, too, to your readers for their kind comments. Wishing everyone a happy New Year! xox

  19. Leslee in TN says

Beautiful picture display! I too like ‘last year’s’ PB clock plates better. They are less formal looking to me, than the black with gold face clock plates. I’d never seen either before seeing them here. But would love it too if PB would bring back last year’s… I’d definitely invest in them! Thanks for your blog, I enjoy it so much!

  20. Beautiful tablescape! Thanks so much for hosting!

  21. Susan, I somehow missed seeing the PB clock plates this year. Need to see if I can still find them. Black is perfect for my cupboards. 😉 Bonnie’s table is festive and elegant. Thanks for sharing it with all of us.

  22. Susan, Bonnie always has the most elegant tablescapes. That New Year’s Eve tablescape this year could almost fit in for a Marti Gras theme; add in a few more jewel tone colors..Beautiful! Bonnie never disappoints her followers.. Thanks for sharing this with us. Love the way she fan folded or pleated the napkins last year and put the black glitter mask as a napkin holder. Love the black bow tie too. She finds the most unique items to use in her Tablescapes. Have you and Bonnie ever thought of doing a book on all of your tablescapes. If Phyliss Hoffman can do it, you can! Did you do a article one time on napkin folding? Seems like I remember something like that. Does it have to be certain fabric napkin that will hold the fan pletes? Have you ever purchased anything from Wayfair? I see all their ads popping up. I think I see a trip to PB in the near future for me.

    • Betty, you are so sweet! Wouldn’t that be fun…a book! I have posted about various napkin folds…you’ll find them all here: https://betweennapsontheporch.net/napkin-folding/
I’ve read that linen napkins are great for holding a shape. I haven’t purchased from Wayfair before but they do have some great looking things on their site. It’s time to check out the spring stuff, isn’t it? I’m going to try and be good this year since I bought so much spring bunny stuff from PB last year. 🙂

  23. What a great New Year’s tablescape! So many inspirational ideas!
I can’t decide if I like the black plates best, or the white, both are wonderful!

    Thanks for hosting!

    Katherine

  24. Susan, I adore your friend, Bonnie’s home! Her table is magical. Thanks for the how to on dishes, I gotta try it! Huggs, Dianna..oh and the view ourt her windows..sigh!

  25. Bonnie’s table was just beautiful….love those clock plates!…and what a beautiful view she has!!

  26. How lovely her home is, I adore the plates! Everything is so so wonderful!

  27. Diane Strickland says

Susan, thank you for sharing this fun New Year’s Eve table. I am always impressed that someone like Bonnie finds the time, during the holidays, to plan and execute a wonderful party like this one. With all of our family events, I usually run out of time!

  28. Susan, I must come out of “lurker-dom” and leave a comment! I have enjoyed your blog/tablescapes all season, after finding you accidentally on Google. I was getting ready to decorate for the holidays, and goolged ‘decorations for home’ and your blog appeared. I thought I was Alice down the rabbit hole!!! Delighted doesn’t nearly cover my excitement. Wow…. you mean there are folks out there who love decorating as much as I do and know how to put pictures up to share???? Needless to say, I used several ideas from various photos, of yours and other folks, and got many compliments on them. The ONLY problem is this re-activated my dish love and the search for more began again. My sweet hubby and I had to have some major discussions about spending and storage. The blog by entertaining ladies and her Garden friends luncheons is my other favorite…. but ladies….. I spend waay too much time sitting here daydreaming, and not enough time doing!!! Okay, if this posts, I’ll be surprised…. I’m not that computer-great and have no idea, nor desire, how to blog. Please just don’t go away, or retire, or get sick or anything…. you would make a lot of folks very sad!!!!

    • Oh Vicki, your sweet comment just made my day! Thanks so much for your kind words! So glad you came out of “lurker-dom”…love that expression. 🙂 I rarely buy dish sets now since I have quite a few. Now I just usually buy salad plates and pair those with my other dish sets for a whole new look. That also helps save on money and storage. I have to be totally smitten by a pattern to buy it now…gotten pretty picky over the years since storage is limited. Awww, thanks Vicki! I don’t plan on going anywhere, don’t you worry! Thanks so much for being here reading…that’s what keeps me blogging! 🙂
