Welcome to the 867th Tablescape Thursday! I am still playing catch-up with the Dollhouse, having maintenance-type stuff done that hasn’t been done in several years. Today, the exterior of the house is being cleaned, including the roof. You may remember when I had the roof cleaned on the Georgia house and shared it in this post: Finally Did It—Had The Roof Cleaned! What Do You Think?
While that’s taking place today, I have a wonderful table setting to share just in time for Mother’s Day. Brenda and her hubby, Tom, created a very special table with beautiful china inherited from Tom’s mother. Brenda said, “This table was inspired by my husband. These are his mother’s dishes.”
“This is another very special table in our hearts. My husband’s mother was a war bride, born in London, England. She met and married his father after the Second World War. His mother came to Canada, where Tom’s father was a dairy farmer, and his mother worked right beside him throughout the years. My husband’s mother died fairly young of breast cancer, and with all the advances today in breast cancer, you can only wish.”
“This set of dishes, Marlborough, Rose Petal, was only used for special occasions. We did not have enough of the set to do a table setting, so we did some vintage and thrift shopping to complete the set. I love this pattern. I used my imagination as to what she would have liked on her table and kept it fairly simple. The gold flatware (I believe) was bought on Amazon. The crocheted placemats I bought at Simons here in Canada. The decorative vases were from T.J. Max years ago.”
Such a beautiful pattern, so delicate!
Brenda and Tom created a lovely centerpiece that goes beautifully with the china and glassware.
This truly is a special table for Mother’s Day. I know Tom’s mother would be so proud and happy to see her lovely china being used again to create such a beautiful table setting! Thanks so much to Brenda and Tom for sharing it with us now, just a few days before Mother’s Day.
Looking forward to the beautiful table settings linked for this week’s Tablescape Thursday!
If you are participating in Tablescape Thursday, please be sure to add your permalink below, and not your general blog address. To get your permalink, click on your post name, then copy and paste the address showing in the address bar, into the “url” box when you link up. You’ll need to include a link in your post back to the party to link up and participate. That’s so visitors to your blog will be able to find the party and the other Tablescape Thursday participants. Requiring a link back also prevents businesses and scammers from linking up to sell their products. Please, don’t add your post name/blog name ALL IN CAPS…it tends to create big spaces between the rows of links. Please do not link up table settings that were just recently shared in the last few weeks for Tablescape Thursday.
Very pretty!! I especially love the crochet place mats!
What a lovely tribute to Tom’s mother. The China is is so pretty and it looks elegant with the crocheted placemats. Thank you, Tom and Brenda, and you too, Susan. I wish the Happiest Mother’s Day to all the moms out there.
The china is so pretty and delicate, yet also so sweet. I’m sure Tom’s mother is smiling down from heaven, knowing her china is still loved and treasured.
How lovely. Such a delicate pattern full of history and love. I am curious about the pale pink glasses that might be for dessert. I love them.
