Beautiful, Inherited, Antique China For A Special Dinner Celebration

Welcome to the 857th Tablescape Thursday! Have you ever been given or inherited dinnerware from a loved one, maybe a parent or a grandparent? Brenda shared a very special table with me saying, “This table is very special for me. The table represents three generations.”

“The dish set was my Granny’s and dates back to 1940-1950 when they purchased it. I inherited it from my grandfather.”

“My Granny looked after the dishes so well, there is no chips or cracks over the years.”

Brenda set this table for a special celebration that included champagne. Love seeing all the special stemware on display that will be enjoyed during this special dinner party.

Brenda shared more of this table saying, “The pattern is Trousseau and made by Mott. They are very hard to find today. The silver chargers are very heavy, are about 40 years old, and have been polished for many years. I believe they came from William Ashley, a china shop we have here in Toronto. The napkin holders are by Waterford, the pattern is Lismore. It brings back many memories of dinners we shared with these dishes when I was a child at my Granny’s house.”

“The silver flatware, I believe, is Queen Anne’s lace. These were given to me by my mother and date back 40 years. They are from Birks.”

“The glassware is by Zwiesel, the pattern is Voltaran. The tablecloth I have had for many years.”

“The silver candle holders—the middle candelabra is a wedding gift and the two other candle holders I inherited from my mother.”

Thanks so much to Brenda for sharing this beautiful celebration table setting featuring the lovely antique dinnerware she inherited from her grandmother. What a joy it would be to dine here! Looking forward to all the beautiful table settings linked for this week’s Tablescape Thursday!

If you are participating in Tablescape Thursday, please be sure to add your permalink below, and not your general blog address. To get your permalink, click on your post name, then copy and paste the address showing in the address bar, into the “url” box when you link up. You’ll need to include a link in your post back to the party to link up and participate. That’s so visitors to your blog will be able to find the party and the other Tablescape Thursday participants. Requiring a link back also prevents businesses and scammers from linking up to sell their products. Please, don’t add your post name/blog name ALL IN CAPS…it tends to create big spaces between the rows of links. Please do not link up table settings that were just recently shared in the last few weeks for Tablescape Thursday.

You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!

  1. Thank you so much for featuring a lovely tablescape from your Canadian reader. Canadians have been your neighbours and friends for many years and we pray that continues on for many years to come!❤️

  2. Beautiful table Brenda. I think antique china is just so lovely and wonderful that you are using it!
The silver and crystal just add to the elegance. Thanks for sharing.

  3. Many thanks to Brenda for sharing her table. What a beautiful set of china. I love the history that goes with the tablescape. How many of us as kids thought life would continue the same and didn’t get the special recipe or favorite piece of china ?

  4. I think it is wonderful that all these treasures are on this table, wouldn’t it be nice if the former custodians could see how carefully their treasures are being cared for ? I hope my children will treasure their grandparents and great grandparents treasures,

  5. Beautiful table setting! Thanks for sharing.
