Best Light Bulbs For A Cozy Paneled Living Room + Added Another Ring Floodlight

Welcome to the 901st Metamorphosis Monday party! Happy New Week! I hope you had a great weekend! I have a couple of updates to share, including a problem for which I finally found a solution.

I’ve been searching for light bulbs for the lamps on either side of the sofa for months. Initially, I replaced the bulbs with the same brand that had worked well in other areas of my home, and the result was always terrible. No matter which brand I purchased, the result was always the same: a disturbingly unworldly, eerie glow. I felt like I had my own version of “uncanny valley” going on in my living room! I wish I had taken a photo of that, although I’m not sure it would show up in a photo.

After a lot of trial and error, I finally found bulbs that gave the room back the warm glow that this room has always had in the past. If you have a room in your home where you’ve been unable to find bulbs that look natural and beautiful, the ones that worked for this fully paneled room are these: Relax LED, Comfortable Soft White Light. The 75-watt bulbs are available here: Relax LED, Comfortable Soft White Light. Note: I initially purchased them in the 60-watt style but found that to be a little too low. I repurchased them in the 75-watt type, and that turned out to be perfect for this room.

I still don’t understand why the bulbs that I use in the other rooms of my home look so awful in this room. It must be because the walls are a warm, brown wood and not painted sheetrock as they are in the other rooms. Anyway, I just wanted to share this in case you have a room for which you’ve been unable to find a lightbulb that works and doesn’t give the room a weird, eerie “uncanny valley” feel.

Added One More Ring Camera Floodlight: The other update I made this past week was adding another Ring camera floodlight to my home—this time for the upper deck area. There was already a floodlight there, so the electricians just changed it out to a Ring floodlight. While they are on sale right now, I’m tempted to add one more in a spot that could use one. The electricians will be back this week to install new ceiling fans on the screened porch. I’ve really enjoyed having a Ring camera floodlight above my garage since Amazon delivery personnel, despite my request that packages be left on the front porch, have left packages twice over the past couple of weeks in front of the garage door. I’m always afraid I’ll back over them, so at least this way I get a notice when that happens now.

One thing I love about Ring Camera Floodlights is that if I hear a noise outside, using the app on my phone, I can quickly turn the Ring floodlights on in that area. Of course, you can see what’s going on even after dark without turning on the floodlights since Ring cameras have amazing night vision, but if you’re trying to scare off a raccoon who is helping himself to the bird feeder (that used to be a regular occurrence here) it’s super easy to turn on the floodlights with the app. Ring floodlights even have an alarm built in that can be activated via the app, although I’ve never needed to do that. That would def get a raccoon’s attention. lol (The Ring Camera Floodlight that I always buy is currently on sale here: Ring Camera Floodlight.)

Hope you found the information about the light bulbs helpful. I’m going to buy a few more to keep on hand, so I don’t have to go through the trial-and-error thing again.

Looking forward to all the great Before and Afters linked below for this week’s Metamorphosis Monday!

Metamorphosis Monday: Metamorphosis Monday is a party that’s all about Before and Afters. Please link up your Before and After projects, like DIY projects, room makeovers, craft projects, and even recipes. Please do not link up Table Settings; save those for our Tablescape Thursday party on Thursday. If you are participating in Met Monday, link your post to the party using the “permalink” to your MM post and not your general blog address. To get your permalink, click on the name of your post, then copy and paste the address (that shows in the address bar at the top of your blog) into the “URL” box for InLinkz when prompted.
